I found Jon's podcast with Jericho to be very similar to CM Punk's situation in terms of frustration with the company and their so called creative team, i found it very open and at times brutally honest. I will give mega props and big respect to Jon for staying to the bitter end and not walking out like CM Punk did even though i wouldn't have blamed him if he did. I would have walked out on the spot if Vince wanted me to go out on TV to say awful lines about Roman Reign's leukemia but i'm so glad he refused to as it would have been so distasteful. All i've got to say to Jon Moxley is thank you for all the great work you did with The Shield and as a singles star, i wish you the best of luck in AEW and i hope everything goes well for you. You truly deserve it.

I feel like WWE has become the new WCW. In terms of the creative process, the last 5 years have been pretty bad. I feel like since they got the money from the Saudi deal and Fox everything on Raw and Smackdown is on autopilot. It's a real shame to, because they have so many great wrestlers on their roster. By the way it's not too shocking to believe that Vince would use Roman's Leukemia to get cheap heel heat. Because I'm pretty sure he was the one who came up with the line for Randy Orton to say that Eddie Guerrero is in Hell. Vince has no shame, and he has a real sick sense of humor. Good for Jon, for standing up to Vince, and refusing to say those lines about his friend.

It’s funny what Jason said it beginning when he said you know for every CM punk or John Moxley there might be three or four guys that see WWE differently and they think Vince McMahon is great. I got to thinking about the people who have said that lately and most of them are guys that had their best run in the attitude era but who just stayed around for a long time like Mark Henry or Kane or HBK. Those guys have a lot of leeway with the company and they already made their mark. Guys like Jon Moxley and CM punk broke in after the hay days were gone. So all of these guys got into WWE and never got a chance to become a pro wrestler. Not the way they wanted to. They never got to cut their own promos they never got to call their own matches. They went to work for a wrestling company that thinks they’re a fucking sitcom with writers.

Jon Moxley is a perfect example of wrestlers not needing WWE to be successful in pro wrestling. Fast forward to AEW Full Gear and he along with Kenny Omega put on a modern day classic match that imho, was better than alot of matches he had in WWE.
@edalder20005 жыл бұрын
Moxley was quite reasonable in his objections. He was analytical and fair. Mox was complimentary of many things in WWE. His frustration with WWE's backstage machinations and booking make complete sense. Moxley had no freedom and was constantly stymied. He played good soldier and left of his own accord. The creative frustration Moxley voiced has been mentioned before by other former WWE talent. Sure CM Punk is the best analogy, but there is a big difference. Punk's Colt Cabana interview made him look like an angry and bitter asshole who napalmed any bridge possible. I never want to see Punk in a ring again and I don't respect him at all. Moxley was an adult and did talk about the many friends he made in WWE, especially wife Renee Young. Moxley is grateful for his time in WWE, but he knew that he needed to leave. Moxley describes that he could not get out of bed in the morning and did not label it Depression. That's the easy way out. Moxley articulated himself well and I have total respect for his decision.

And interestingly, for diametrically opposite reasons. In WCW, the inmates were running the asylum. There was no leadership at the top. There was no structure. I think the one thing that Vince McMahon forget is that his genius in the 90s and 80s didn’t come from him writing peoples promos. The way he beat WCW In the ratings wasn’t Vince McMahon riding promos or being this crazy micromanagement person. He had guys like Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, The Rock, Triple H, Mick Foley and The New Age Outlaws Who could really be creative on their own, that could cut great wrestling promos that they came up with. Vince McMahon realized how great his talent was and he just let them loose. That’s how we got the most successful era in WWE history. I think WWE is so used to re-writing history on their DVDs and shit like that , that that they have really rich and their own history in their mind that all their success came from the brilliant mind of Vince McMahon and nobody else. Not true. There are most successful run was because he let the wrestlers do their thing. Vince will drown his company to pre-Attitude Era's 90's if he has to. He doesn't want nobody else running it.

14:14 As far as Goldberg goes, We had no idea what was going to come in less than a year after this podcast. I feel like Goldberg winning from the Fiend is the moment that finally broke me on WWE. I can't even bring myself to be angry at WWE anymore. I just feel nothing anymore. That's something for me to say considering how I used to watch it as a kid and then again for the last ten years.

The current WWE product reminds me a lot of WCW in the late 90s/early 2000s. Wrestlers are starting to leave in droves. Ratings keep dropping lower and lower as the fans go with them. For all the great things McMahon has done for this business I don't think he realizes how much harm he is doing to his own company. He's never going to pass the reigns over to anyone else so the sad reality is realistically things are going to stay the same for at least the next 10 to 20 years.

This just shows that Moxley has a heart & a creative mind and Really gives a damn about pro wrestling.
@israelmassey68585 жыл бұрын
I have to call a little bit of bullshit on this whole Moxley situation. Now we all know the bullshit that goes on backstage in WWE with creative, that's no surprise. But this whole poor pity me shit with Moxley is ridiculous. And i find it kind of funny how people are now all of a sudden acting like this guy is on the level of Stine Cold Steve Austin or hell even a Cm Punk, when he's nowhere close to that level. But despite that, this guy was always in the top spot in WWE and in top programs, and got paid millions of dollars to basically be mediocre. We should all be so unfortunate. How many people would love to be in that position? Let's be honest, the "creative freedom" he wanted was to do more dives out of the ring, bleed more, and work a lighter schedule. And maybe more freedom on the mic which is understandable. It's not like who he is now is anymore fuckin different than who he was in WWE. What the fuck is the difference between John Moxley and Dean Ambrose? Has he altered his look or done something drastically different that I'm not aware of? "He can talk asses in the seats." I'm sorry, was this man a Hulk Hogan or Rock esque superstar on the indies and i just don't know about it? Now no, no one should have to feel depressed at the place where they make a living for themselves. But Moxley and all these bandwagon fanboys need to stop acting like his life was so miserable in the WWE. Now that last little run that he had where they turned him heel, and he was coming out dressed as Bane and taking needles in the ass, and talking about pooper scoopers and all this other garbage...yeah i can't defend that. That was fucking trash.

This makes me wonder if that last interview Cole did with The Shield before that last chapter network special where Dean went off on Cole was real. I tend to think it was because Reigns and Rollins reactions looked real. I mean what did Dean have to lose by going off script.

My only problem with Moxley, is his gimmick of being a tough guy. Whatever bad ideas took place in WWE is to me their fault. But seeing him debut in AEW, his body language is so goofy looking. I think he thinks it's a "tough guy" thing but he just looks silly. Other than that, guy knows how to pop a crowd. I hope him and I hope especially AEW take off. I'm at least excited for actual pro wrestling, not the sports entertainment crap.

I actually think WWE will get better in the next year or two. I think this podcast was an NWO type moment. I know not to the same level to say the least lol, but if the wrestling world is focusing on something other WWE it will force them to get their shit together. Plus I don’t see HHH being one to be content, he has a legacy to build behind the scenes.

I think the only reason he had any success in WWE is because he was affiliated with Rollins & Reigns, he was only a one time World champion while the other two have been multiple time champs, that told me alot about how they felt about him

I feel that the WWE owes me. I was a child, running up my grandparents phone bill, calling their hotline. I collected all of their action figures and wrestling ring. Watched the cartoon. Ordered PPV's. Attended live events. Bought & subscribed to their magazine. Had their cable subscription before they had their network. Yes, I followed NWA, AWA, WCCW, UWF, ICW, the Portland and Memphis scene on occasions. I missed Florida and Georgia and Stampede, but I followed them through magazines. Even GLOW. I'm copper colored true American. Sure, I loved Boxing, Football, Basketball, Baseball and the Canadian in my blood, Hockey, as well. But, I only attended one Professional Boxing event. One minor league baseball game. & high school basketball and football game. Back to Wrestling. If the NWA stayed in the game, instead of WCW, we wouldn't have this conversation. The Four Horsemen, the Midnight Express, Rock n Roll Express, Nikita Koloff, Ron Simmons. Sting carried WCW, but he was UWF to me. That being said, NWA could've been top dog. I loved AWA, because they wrestled at the Showboat Hotel and Casino, in LV, but I didn't know them when they had the future WWE Hall of Famer's. WCCW, the Fabulous Freebirds, & Iceman King Parsons, my man. Why WWE, didn't ever pick him up is mind boggling. Everyone who does a super kick, thank the Gentleman Chris Adams. We'll see how this FOX deal goes. With the launch of the XFL, how could WWE survive? Reminds me of No Limit Records. Too many eggs in one nest. Russo maybe correct about WWE, being in bed with AEW. IMPACT isn't going anywhere it seems like. The little engine that could. ROH? Jay Lethal and the Briscoes are their Life Blood. MLW is making noise. Back to Russo's Theory: The Elite did a DX invasion angle on WWE over Cease and Desist tactics. Plus, the public doesn't know what went on with those contracts.

I do know that November episode you speak of, I remember the podcast about it. I don't doubt you that it is bad, I've not seen it, and have no interest in seeing it, but normally when you talk about how bad the product is, I'm normally here nodding along, because even though I stopped watching it two years ago, I still hear how bad it is. And hearing about how it's a show for one, I've said that for the longest time, as well as how he's lost his touch he once had. Now I don't know if Triple H taking over will improve it or not, but couldn't make it much worse.
