I’ve been saying it for a while now. Jon Pardi and midland is the look and sound country music and us fans need. For some reason the radio stations don’t play their music as much as others Was lucky enough to see Jon Pardi and midland in the same concert earlier this year in Sacramento. All the way from NC to Cali to see them both

Midland had a couple nice hits, but Let It Roll was a huge disappointment compared to what I had heard out of them before. Go back to what you were doing, it was much better.
@MrLanGT5 жыл бұрын
@@shaneshane9419 Considering my playlist contains George Straight, George Jones, Conway Twitty, Merle Haggard, Charley Pride, Patsy Cline, Alan Jackson, among many other REAL country artists, I think I do know a bit. Also, considering the fact that both Dan and Shay as well as Thomas Rhett get played on pop radio stations, I don't think I'd consider that county in any way, form, or fashion. I'm not sure why this triggers you. It was lacking, compared to their previous music. I didn't say it wasn't closer to country music, I said it wasn't as good. It's subjective, you are allowed to believe as you wish, but I personally just think it's lacked, compared to some of their older music and other artists. I don't think that Let It Roll was as good as On The Rocks..

@steveeggsnham21525 жыл бұрын
b I don’t love his voice either, I’ve listened to a couple songs from the album and it definitely sounds better musically/instrumentally than your typical modern country song. I have struggled to find modern country that I like. I’ve recently been digging into to outlaw country in Waylon Jennings, Merle, and other various highwaymen songs. Always stuck to the traditional Strait, Randy Travis, Clint Black sort of crowd but they (outlaws) are legendary.

Tbh I think Luke Combs is overhyped he’s got some good stuff, but I think Jon should take the crown for King of Country rn
@MrLanGT5 жыл бұрын
Neither of them have are respected enough to have that title. It still belongs to George Strait. Off of that point, I don't think Jon Pardi's voice is awesome. That's one defining factor that, for me, allows Luke Combs to surpass Jon Pardi. That and the fact that most of his music is solemn or depressing. Luke Combs has a nice medium where he has deep, meaningful songs, but he also puts out a fair bit of music that you just wanna get up, dance, and sing along to. He also is a fantastic songwriter. Just like with "When It Rains It Pours." He was able to take a terrible situation, make a breakup song, but put the twist on it to make it something happier. As opposed to being depressed and sad over a breakup, he puts a twist that maybe it had been the best thing that could've happened, things are going right, and put the song into a light where it doesn't have to be sad. Both good artists, but Luke Combs definitely isn't overhyped. He's a great artist and songwriter.

"Me and Jack" reminded me of the song "In the Jailhouse Now" by Webb Pierce through the step by step naritive, then suddenly the artist is in jail for doing what he's talked about the whole song. The instrumentals on this album are beautiful, and make me think of the late eighties country. This is not quite Bakersfield, but real country. Country that is cool.

I think we're looking at a round 2 of the outlaw vs the urban country scene. For a few years overly produced, pop music has been claiming to be country, and country listeners have about had it again.
