I was at the Louvre in March 2022, and people could still rent the 3DS guide in the museum, but the gift shop did not stock the physical cart anymore. I asked and was told they don’t sell it anymore. I wasn’t 100% convinced of the answer, but they definitely didn’t have any in any language in stock while I was there.

I don't have a lot of rare games, but probably the most expensive one I own is Chrono Trigger CIB for the DS. Bought it in 2019 for $40 at a happenstance GameStop visit (I am still shocked) and now it's triple that value. My brother has Pokemon Emerald I don't count it because no mainline Pokemon game is rare enough to be worth more than $40 if you ask me. I have pretty much all of the essential Gamecube games, including both Pikmin, Mario Sunshine, Windwaker, Smash Bros Melee, Paper Mario, among others and even the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess. I ended up getting it because I was so hyped for the game and my parents could not for the life of them find a Wii for like the first full year of its release, and like 6 months into that I used my allowance money to buy that version instead. That ended up working out too because once I had the Wii even though I liked the motion control gimmick more than most people did for that particular game it just felt way better to play with a Gamecube controller (probably because that's what it was designed for from its conception)

I've wanted to get into the Dragon Quest series by playing Dragon Quest V on the ds, but that game is so expensive. Now that Dragon Quest XI has done very well in the west, and is the best selling dragon quest game in the west, Square should definitely re-release the previous Dragon Quest games on console (and pc) other than just the first 3 games on the switch (and I hope that they don't just directly port over the mobile ports like they did with 1-3 because I REALLY don't like how those look.)

I don’t own too many “rare” games, but some of the more uncommon or expensive ones I have (outside of the obvious like the DS Pokémon games) are the DS version of Chrono Trigger (that one I bought randomly at a used games store years ago and am glad to have held onto), Shin Megami Tensei IV, The World Ends With You: Final Remix, Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition, No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again and both Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and the physical version of Torna: The Golden Country (and that last one I got a very good deal on due to only being $69 [nice], albeit without the case. Though I did buy a replacement case later on.) I did use to own Rhythm Thief and the Emperor’s Treasure on 3DS, but sadly I ended up losing it. ;-; And while European or Japanese copies are relatively cheap, for some reason the NA version goes for HUNDREDS of dollars.

Probably my craziest one is getting Starwing Competition (Star Fox Super Weekend) for the SNES for about 2,600 HUF (around 8 USD today) because the seller thought it was just regular Starwing. It was about 10 years ago. For those who don't know, only a very small amount was ever made, and was used in official competitions held by Nintendo back in the day. Most of my very valuable games are mostly valuable because I bought them when they were either relevant (like CIB N64 games), or just generally before the retro game boom (like a Mega Man V loose cartridge for the Game Boy, which I bought for 1,500 HUF or about 5 USD, look up how much it costs nowadays).

I live in Europe, and that was in 2019. Crazy. As for games, it seems to shuffle between CiB Zelda 1 on NES (PAL), CiB Pokemon Heartgold/Pokewalker bundle on DS (PAL), and CiB Pokemon Fire Red Players Choice on GBA (NTSC-U). None of them are really rare, but they are valuable. My entire top 10 consists of Zelda and Pokemon games, maybe with a CiB Sonic CD (PAL) in there, and a sealed Metroid Samus Returns (PAL).

Sonic Heroes was my first sonic game and I’ve been hooked since, it’s very flawed but I still love it and didn’t fully appreciate how much it meant to me until I was seeing Sonic 2 in the cinema with my daughter and seeing team sonic battling together against Eggman on the big screen. Life is Strange is another that just meant so much to me at the time and just has its hooks sunk so deep that even the trailers for the remaster are a sea of emotions. I once found Final Fantasy Anthology and Origins at a charity store and unfortunately, because they apparently LOOKED special to this dear old lady, she took them to the back where apparently someone much younger was hanging out, confirmed their value, and so she returned and asked for 100DKK per game. Not a crazy amount of money but more than I had, so I had to quickly go to the supermarket with some of my empty plastic bottles and get the change I didn’t have.

I don't have many rare and expensive games. The ones I do have I mostly got back when they were new and not in as high of demand, such as Xenoblade Chronicles X Special Edition and Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn. The one exception is Fire Emblem Path of Radiance, one of my friends found a copy and gave it to me as a wedding gift a few years ago.

I doubt people will be too interested but I’ve been collecting games for a few years and have spent a pretty penny on a few of them. So I thought I’d throw in my most expensive games too following the same rules as Jon. Bare in mind all of these are the PAL releases so the prices may be different from your own 5. Streets of Rage 3 (SEGA Mega Drive) 4. Rayman (Atari Jaguar) 3. Dragon Quest: The Hand of the Heavenly Bride (Nintendo DS) 2. Panzer Dragoon Saga (SEGA Saturn) 1. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (Sony PlayStation)

My valuable game is a signed copy of Pokémon Moon from the developers. I won it in a competition. 😁

I will always cherish my copy of Fire Emblem Path of Radiance I got from the bargain bin at Walmart. I begged my mom for it and had to mow the lawn 4 weeks in a row

My rarest games are probably both 3ds ones: I have the Nintendo 3ds guide Louvre in English (very glad I picked that up), and the FE Gates special edition CIB.

Probably the rarest games I have are arcade games believe it or not… I’ve got Radiant Silvergun (arcade ST-V card in a custom Radiant Silvergun dedicated cabinet), and Soukyugurentai (Terra Diver, also in the same arcade cab on a switcher in ST-V format). Outside of that, I do also have every Falcom title released on Switch physically (Japan releases included), alongside physicals for a variety of shmups including every M2 ShotTriggers physical release. I have a massive collection, but those are probably the more unique niche things.

on the louvre guide, my mom went in October 2021 and she could not get the English version of the guide, but they still had other languages.

My 5 most valueable games are Sega Rally Championship on GBA (loose), Pokemon Soul Silver (loose), Rhythm Heaven Fever (CIB), Kirby Planet Robobot (CIB) (yes this game suddenly shot up in price for some reason and now its like 80 dollars), and Pokemon LeafGreen (loose). All of these games I actually got from a friend (except Planet Robobot, I got that myself), most of which i got either when they weren't that expensive or neither of us knew they were expensive, aside from Soul Silver which they very generously offered to me for only $20 (I made sure to ask them "you sure you're gonna sell it to me for that cheap?")

Honestly, my rarest game has to be a NA physical version of Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure on the 3DS. That thing averages about $400-500 on eBay these days

I have most of my childhood games so what I have I've hung on to and rarely sell games. I've never spent over the $60 for any one game. IAnyway some of my rarest games are Koudelka, Shadow Hearts, Chulip, Eternal Poison, Lunar 1&2, Klonoa 2, Under the Skin, Skys of arcadia. Most of my rarer games tend to be rpgs.
