How about we look at state violent crime rates rather than city crime rates? Red states should never criticize the blue for crime rates. The top 15 states for violent crime in any given year almost always include Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and South Carolina.
@charleshetrick31526 ай бұрын
That’s the irony though, the cities those crimes are predominantly committed in are run by democrats. Every red state has one or two blue cities where all the crime is. When poor people get money it goes right into the economy. When you give rich people tax breaks that money stays in pockets that are already full. Any taxes on people who don't have wealth don't help our economy. I'm talking about going back to the times where the wealthiest of Americans have real taxes, when this country had much less poverty. When people who could afford homes and cars without going into massive debt. The tax rate on the rich was above 70%. Generational wealth was taxed. This was the case for the richest people, an infinitesimal amount of people but putting so much into the economy by way of less taxes for basically everyone else. We then spend that money and it goes into our economy.
@marc131266 ай бұрын
Yes you’re correct. The rich people keep millions of dollars just sitting in their bank account making 0.2% interest on it instead of putting that money into the stock market/economy. Yup that makes total sense👍🏼
@malcolmdickinson85616 ай бұрын
That's how things used to be under Eisenhower and Nixon and others - with the rich paying their fare share, and American infrastructure growing to be the envy of the world. Then along came Reaganomics and ever since 1981, the former party of fiscal conservancy has been 100% about lowering taxes on the rich at the expense of everything else. Have a look at how the federal debt has grown under each and every GOP president since then. The largest jump in the debt occurred in 2017 when trump and the GOP decided to leave $10 trillion in the pockets of the wealthy instead of having it paid in income taxes. 🤦♂

@marc131266 ай бұрын
@@Buq666 This is such a dumb argument. So why do the middle-class or poor people put money into the stock market? Higher taxes do not correlate directly with higher tax revenue. For example, Trump cut taxes and had the largest tax revenue in US history. (Just using him as an example) Also, every tax break applies to everyone and not just the rich. You people constantly act like there is some mysterious tax code just for the rich?! I can guarantee you that you are taking advantage of the same tax breaks as the rich do but you probably not even realizing it. Are you paying taxes on your debt? Are you paying taxes on unrealized capital gains? The answers are no and no... which are the two main ways the rich lower their tax burden.

I’ve lived in Detroit my entire adult life (30 + years). I’ve never owned a gun and I’ve never been in a situation where a gun was necessary. The worst thing that has ever happened was a stolen car and a garage break-in. Fun fact: 9 of the 10 most crime ridden states are red states.

The crime perception/reality situation has been an issue since the mid-1990s or so. Gallup has measured perceptions of crime in respondents' neighborhoods and in the country as a whole for over 30 years, now. Nationwide, crime has dropped almost every year since about 1993 (with a few exceptions); however, most Gallup respondents have said that crime is rising in practically every year since then. That said, they tend to say that crime is dropping in their own neighborhoods. They also tend to say that crime is a top concern, even in years during the Obama administration when crime hit its lowest levels in *recorded history*. People in the media have been linking this disconnect to Trump, COVID, but this reality greatly predates any of these phenomena.
