“Crazy/Radical Lib” here to say I appreciate your comment and agree wholeheartedly. We have lost sight of each others’ humanity- and in large part because of messaging from the media. I have always had an interest in news, politics, and world events, and even as young as 12 or 13, I liked talking to adults about these things and discussing current affairs, etc. It’s really hard for me to tune out the news, and part of me feels like it’s blasphemous, but it has all just become so toxic and divisive, it is doing the opposite of what it is intended for. The news should be educating people about current events, cultures, and historical interactions, rather than telling us how to interpret those things by shoving their own perspectives down our throats, as is happening today. I have had to tune it out for the most part, despite my urges, and I have had so much more clarity, sanity, and compassion since then. I think we all could use some media detox at times (news and social media!) if we want to be more understanding and humane as a society.

What's crazy is that it isn't even really 24-hour news. It's basically like the same half a dozen or so news stories repeated all day (at least from what I remember from watching that junk 20 years ago)
@CareyBilley7 ай бұрын
In order to fill air time in a 24hr cycle they had to create outrage and division by building a narrative that brought back people for more. They've turned the viewers into addicts that constantly need a reason to be ouitraged 24/7.

I always thought Jessica's stint on The Daily Show was too short, because she was always a highlight for me. So I checked IMDB and found she only did 6 episodes in 4 years! I hope she's back as a regular, because she is so f'n great and we deserve more of her.
@mangos28887 ай бұрын
Idk if that's correct. I thought there was more of her back in the day
@BillKarwin7 ай бұрын
She has only 6 episode credits where she played a character, probably in their pre-taped skits. She was "Self - Correspondent" in 137 episodes 2012-2024. IMDB shows these in the "Self" credits, separate from the "Actor" credits.

They want trump to have a chance in the election because it gets them clicks. He has no chance, only in the eyes of the disingenuous media. They have to find content and trump is media gold. IF and this is big IF trump was to be elected, America is finished, and the media would be 100% responsible for it. It's like climate change, everyone knows it will be the end of humans, except for those who ignore it because they make money in businesses that are responsible for the majority of it.
