Very Very cool ! I have had an 11/40 cassette fitted at a time I genuinely needed easy gears (together with 50/34 at the front). I could now live without the 11/40 cassette, but would not change for anything in the world. The large gear capacity at the back means I am almost always on the 50 at the front. I am genuinely thinking of 1X on my road bike when I will shortly need to change my transmission. I am happy that Jonas has copied my trend … I set it in 2016 already ! 😅😂

I read somewhere that the bike frames are made intentionally as small (short) as possible and that is why the stem is long. I ride a custom Serotta with a longer top tube and needed a long stem due to a longer torso. The 1x makes sense especially with a 52 vs 53 and a larger cassette.

@@Artemstorozhuk let me put it this way. There is a reason why SRAM pushed 1x SO hard on MTB. It wasn't because it was any better than a 2x system. I’m enjoying the bike so far kzbin.infoUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals. I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes. I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out. A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well. Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes. My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet. Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all. None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however. I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things.

1. Running SRAM chains should be a no-no, since they are (marginally) slower than Shimano chains. But marginally or not even marginal gains or in this case losses do count. See findings by of Australian Zero Friction Cycling. 2. If I remember correctly it is also their finding that SRAM 1x seems to be occasionally dropping chains. Again something marginal but at long distances and tough race condictions marginal losses very likely pile up to statistically importnat facts. 3.I remember Silca chief Josh Portner saying in a chat with GCN presenters that 2x is a better option than 1x. I think we will see during this year's TdF ár latest by 2023 Vuelta if these alleged factors prove to be important enough to force a change in the pro peloton.

Sponsors decide your chain. That's pro life. Pro's generally would choose Specialized frames and Shimano gears and their chains - may or may not be for good reasons (according to a top pro who just stopped racing interviewed about what gear the pro's would chose if they could - interestingly, for a lot of gear they don't really care).
