I think a big reason some people can make full games super fast is because they know exactly what they want in the first place, and also because they have practiced making similar things so many times in game jams or learning projects. The bigger the game, the more of that you need in order to make it quickly, but the more times you work out the hardest parts, the more naturally it comes

8:04 "Losing motivation is the biggest risk you're facing" oh boy, this part hit me hard, and I'm only starting a project. Between trying to learn as I go, working on and off (and off, and off again) on the game, and not being entirely sure if the idea is actually good for a game (and the time investment), it can get pretty hard to stay motivated. You telling us (and yourself) to keep going is the encouragement I kinda needed to hear today.

We need more creators like you, Dedicated to a game or project and willing to put the work in, I know a few game devs (Fortresscraft especially) who don't have a lot of polish in their game and that's one of the biggest reasons its not more popular, (Wuhoh that was an opinion) as the dev said time and time again "there are like 600 textures, making each texture look better and actually fit the game style would take a lot of time and money and is not worth the effort" I garuntee you he would have said making the blocks seperated in each level 0:46 would not have made a difference in the game and would have been pointless and stupid to change. but Its those small details that really make the game special and worth the purchase. now I dont want to only bash in the Fortresscraft dev, he made a really good factory game and I have enjoyed it a lot. but I still think the Polish in the game could have been better. I look forward to his next game (Fortresscraft 2...) I didn't even know your game existed but youtube suggested this video to me and it really has brought up a few things I am re motivated to work on again. Your game looks so good, I hope it becomes a big success, you certainly deserve it and from what I can tell it's a pretty amazing The amount of time it took ,the terrible oscillation between being motivated and feeling like crap and you should probably quick I know how bad it is ,I've been there and I'm still there but you've given me a much needed motivation, good luck on your journey ❤️

Great work! Keep it up! I really find it helpful to have multiple projects, so I can switch between them. So that when you have a loss of motivation you still stay productive.

It may seem like hardly anything is changing, but what counts is that those changes happened at all. It will all add up and we will have a fantastic game at the end. (Also the cameo of dani's vid was cool)

Tbh, when you started creating the game, I respected it but never thought about buying your weird idea. But with time the game got better and better and it got me really interested now. I'm excited to play it when you publish your first masterpiece.

Hey, Jonas. I've been watching your videos for a while but I haven't commented yet. This project is looking really incredible and I have so much respect for you because of your drive to finish it. I've only managed to finish one proper game so far in my 2 or 3 years of becoming a game developer. I've probably created hundreds of projects and all of them were eventually canned or simply forgotten because I would lose motivation, but this has inspired me to finish a game again. Keep up the good work, man. It would be disappointing to see this project fade away.

Very well said! I think you totally hit the nail on the head with this. I started realizing this recently with my own project, but you’ve articulated the experience so well. Adjusting different difficulty levels to specific people’s skill level is very smart as well. I might have to use that myself haha. Thanks for the great video, tips, and inspiration. Keep it up man! Your game keeps looking more and more impressive.
