Jonathan Antoine is an opera singer, sometimes compared to Pavarotti, who crosses over into other genres. He and his singing partner Charlotte Jaconelli placed 2nd on Britain's Got Talent. They recorded albums as a duo before breaking up to pursue solo careers. I must share this with a heavy metal loving friend . :-)

I was rather happy that Jonathan and Charlotte did not take first in the talent show. It would have been superfluous for them. All the doors they could wish opened for them as soon as they began to sing. Whoever did get first place would probably benefit most and that win may have been the absolute peak of their career or the necessary boost to continue.

Jonathan himself enjoys metal. It's interesting to see the impressions of a fellow metal fan, who like Jonathan enjoys so much variety of genre. At times this simply are no words for the ability of Jonathan in his performances. It was 2012 on Britain's got talent and just shy man took the stage with a companion Charlotte. That was simply no turning back this young man is and will be known as one of the greats!

I sometimes look him (Jonathon Antoine) up here on YT. When I first saw that he was doing Unchained Melody, I panicked inside; UM is usually a tried by singers who just can't match Righteous Brothers. After they attempt UM, they fall out of favour and fade into oblivion, never to be heard from again. With great trepidation, I clicked on it, and was pleasantly shocked to hear him not only match, but even improve it! He's a very good singer.

Remember he began so very young and from a place of shy insecurity. The entertainment industry can do serious harm to the naive. I like to think Jonathan is well protected. As he matures emotionally his song will become even richer. I hope he comes to know all the joys plus all the slings and arrows of life without taking too much damage. He has a natural empathy and a good imagination but there's nothing like having been there and done that to fully understand and express those emotions.

Here is some background on this performance and that concert at Thousand Oaks, California. That concert was Jonathan's first North American concert ever. I have been a fan (his fans are affectionately know as Fantoines) of his since I first heard that BGT audition in 2012. He originally sang with a partner and they put out 2 CDs together, both of which were very successful, but then they both went on to pursue their separate careers. Since then he has put out 2 solo CDs (Tenore and Believe) Tenore topped the classical charts in Britain and he was the youngest tenor to every have that honor. Believe was right up there also when it came out. He toured in Great Britain and had done a few of guest appearances in the USA but the concert Sept 2018 in Thousand Oaks was his first full fledged North American appearance. People literally came from all over the world to attend. I came from the prairies of Canada, there were a loyal contingent from Great Britain, some from Denmark and even some from Australia! The concert was amazing. Now, to put the performance of Unchained Melody in perspective. He had completed the concert and we dragged him out for an encore. He announced that the song he was going to sing he had not done in front of an audience before that night and it turned out to be Unchained Melody. This was that performance and it still gives me goosebumps to watch and listen to it. The concert had been videotaped and when there was a tragic shooting in a night club in Thousand Oaks Jonathan posted the video to KZbin as a tribute to the folks from Thousand Oaks. Jonathan is an amazing young man! Since then he came back to perform live in Toronto, Canada in June 2019. Started out only going to be one performance but tickets went so fast they added a second performance. That concert (Going the Distance) was taped for television and was picked up by PBS. It was being shown on a variety of PBS stations starting at the end of February, 2020 and some live concert performances were supposed to occur in various locations throughout the US and Canada ..... and then Covid-19 happened! The live concert are in the process of being rescheduled but most won't likely happen now until 2021, depending on when the world opens up again!! His CD of Going the Distance is available now as well as a DVD of the Toronto concert. If you want to give yourself a treat and hear the full range of his vocal talents go look it up. the CD is available on most of the media places like iTunes, Spotify, Amazon etc etc Sorry to be so long winded but I thought you might be interested. He is just 25 years old and has a heart of gold. He also is a very ardent metal listener as well.

Plus has recorded two more of Diane Warrens songs Compass’ on the album’Going the Distance’, and ‘ Momenti Splendidi’ on the alum ChristmasLand’. Larger famed people have larger lungs to provide them with enough air for their size. But they are only a little bigger. Singers who start as children use their lungs to sing and their lungs actually do develop a lot more capacity. I do not how much that applies to those who start singing in their twenties or later. My collage roomate had been belting out hyms in church since about age 3. We timed her just for fun and she held one high note for 93 seconds. But she sang every day and lungs are a muscle which can improve with use.

My uncle was a musician & voice coach with MGM during the Golden Age of musicals. Yes, men who have a larger chest do have a larger lungs 'usage'. But, Jonathan Antoine has an even stronger lung/diaphragm push than most. His high-C is almost impossible for tenor-males to hit because of the lung capacity plus control the note requires. Amazing voice.

Fixed or not. Simon did the right thing regarding that contest and its aftermath. Jonathan's voice is maybe once in a generation if we're lucky. Simon understood that Jonathan would never have braved that audition without Charlotte. He respected the value of their friendship and helped them both. He treated both Charlotte and Jonathan to that European adventure. That was wise and kind and realistic. Simon appreciated the future had to remain entirely their decision. They would part ways if and when and only they felt ready to do so.

Don't begrudge the dog act though. That was probably the peak of that career. Jonathan & Charlotte did not need that win.
