It didn’t take long for Arnel to become my favorite singer. Since I was just a toddler when Journey was in it’s prime with Steve Perry, I didn’t truly become a fan until I heard Arnel, and his story. Arnel inspired me to want to learn about Steve, and now I’m a huge Steve Perry fan as well, but I owe that to Arnel!

I agree 100% with you. Not sure ANYONE else could have did what Arnel did for Journey worldwide. He was the PERFECT fit and took Journey to a new height. A Perry clone would have backfired. Steve Augeri worked, he did a GREAT job after Perry but wasn't as accepted as well as Arnel was. Arnels international flavor was a PERFECT fit for the band. He wasn't a SP clone which is what they needed.

Give him a break...those gruelling concert tours in different parts of the world made him tired and maybe his energy level waned a bit. He has played a big role for Journey's comeback...rejuvenated the band from sinking. If he leaves the band in the near future, it's alright as he had achieved a dream that is much greater than what a humble, passionate singer that he is could imagine. Hope his contribution to Journey's rebirth would be etched in its historic journey.

Journey made the right choice. It's beyond extraordinary having found him on youtube. I have listened to all Steve Perry's songs versus Arnel Pineda with Journey band. For big bands, Pineda's voice has that husky sexier subtleness about it compared to Perry's "more feminine" one. Both good but with big instruments I personally prefer Pineda's. Rock band singers like Axl, Mick Jagger, Freddie Mercury etc have all that masculine soft husks.

Anyone will be nervous, even Arnel Pineda was nervous on his first performance. Jonathan Cain is saying the right things, and in fact not patronising themselves or Pineda. He is just saying what went on and how they felt. Jonathan said "Pineda won the fans", and saying nice things about him. The band has a good chemistry, keep up the good work. I am one of the late people to discover Journey and so happens I like bands and I like Journey songs. They should keep going as they're able.

He even admitted that he could no longer sing those Journey songs with the same high notes. He's 72 now and really aged, that's a fact! not really easy to sing those songs again, you need a lot of energy to be able to sing the most difficult song to sing like "Open Arms" of which Steve Perry himself was one of the composers. He is now considered as a solo artist!

I dont think AP would just leave the group bec of the haters ,in fact, he is a huge fan of Journey (at the time of his audition, he admitted that he brought all along to US all his collections of Journey CD's for autograph by Journey band members including SP). Even before Neil Schon, saw him in KZbin, most of his live performances at Hard Rock Cafe, were Journey songs! That's why he already mastered most of the Journey signature songs, he knows all the songs! He could sing any song whatever your request is, that's normal to him, since he used to sing all the songs being requested at the Hard Rock Cafe in Manila. That's always his job as band vocalist in the Phils. It's just some fans are, indeed, hard-core fans of SP, (sad to say that SP admitted that, he could no longer sing those Journey songs with the same high notes, he is 72 now, and his popularity also subsided when he left Journey). Some fans could not really accept other vocalist to sing what SP has originally sung. Really nothing to worry about AP should the situation changes, Chicago, Toto, are just waiting in line to catch him!

John Cain (not his real name] is my friends cousin and he is a really nice guy! He and Steve Perry were a great song writing team, Arny does a good job helping the keep the band working and all that shit but I am not sure about his writing abilities or creativity, I can play a lot of songs on the guitar but I am not as creative as some artists....................I guess as long as the music keeps going it is all for the best! I grew up listening to R&B. Sam Cooke Marvin Gaye and the Temptations I could go own. I had 2 teenage sisters that lived on that music. Nothing can touch what Steve Perry has done. HE'S Voice Has A Mixture Of R&B Rock and Jazz. All of it. There's no one that could ever match this man. He's a He'll of a song writer. He will always be the voicolist that made Journey and I think Johanson Cain is way over the top with his book. We all see what's going on and think that.his book will not make to the top ten. We as fans of Steve isn't very happy with this book and he should never as A CHRISTIAN put out a book to to hurt Steve. Is he that hard up for money. That's my opinion as Fan of Steve of 42 yrs would not go out buy his book and I'm sure others like me who adure Steve will feel the same way. I actually think that Neil Shoun is still some how connecting with Steve. Johnathon is stirring up things that he should of left alone. He's stirring up the pot.

I'm sure your obvious answer will be, 'Did I say that it's okay to hurt Arnel? ' So you don't have any idea that you and your fellow die hard Steve fans' continuous rejection and ten years of non-stop bashing of Arnel Pineda is not hurting the guy? It's okay because he's not Steve? I didn't know that there is a subconcept in Christianity called selective Christianity which I have a strong inkling that it is also called religious hypocrisy. Die hard Steve fans refuse to be governed and continue to defy one of the laws of nature which is, when moving nothing remains in the same place. Time has passed and It's more than ten years since Arnel joined Journey and Steve's fans are still wishing him to do the same thing that he abandoned doing many many years ago.
