It is Carly and Lucy Simon. They have been family friends since they were kids.

"Good morning, hey Friday, the 12th of April 1968. Jonathan Schwartz here in a new groove. The new groove, WNEW-FM." When I first hear it on the WNEW-FM anniversary broadcast, I thought it was done by the Ward Swingle Singers, bought everything of theirs I could find in print, and came up blank. I called Elsas @ FUV and he spilled the beans on the name of mystery artists.

I just wrote to Jonathan and asked him the names of his opening and closing themes. He told me that for forty years he has never revealed the names of the songs. The WNYC website says that the opening theme is from a private tape. There's no doubt in my mind that the singer on the opening theme is his friend Carly Simon. I'm actually more interested in the closing instrumental theme. Since I've only been listening to Jonathan's show for about ten years, I could've sworn that the first time I had heard the closing theme it was something I had heard before.

Anyone know when I can find the song Molly, I recall. JS would play it every once in awhile. At one time it was on You Tube but I can't seem to locate it any longer. Possible deleted I assume.

@@markdecker6190 I think JS used Chopin at times before he started playing the Nelson Riddle song.

Catchafire2000 Jonathan told me that he has not told anyone the names of either the opening or closing theme song since he started using them 40 years ago.
