lm in New Zealand and saw your house years ago, which changed my life. I loved it, never forgot it and went on to buy a commercial building to live and work in myself . 7 years later now I adore my building and love how well it works for me … I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your inspired innovation : )

Fantastic. I like that it was built about 20 years ago and still looks so modern. Really like the natural elements incorporated into the living space, and how apart it seems to be from it all while you can still see the rooftops of surrounding buildings. Very well done Jonathan.

Saw this on another channel a few years back that had a little more footage and different angled shots on that relaxing courtyard. Between that and the trussed ceiling area alone has that place looking very nice. That brick wall has the color and look that just draws me to it, which is odd as I use to dislike the industrial look, not sure why, but man do I love it now. Thanks for posting.

So I live in a stone house with no heating or insulation; sunlight only hits it until around midday and then it gets pretty chilly right after. You kinda just get used to it. We resort to loads of clothing and small indoor burners during the worst days (around -6C outdoors; -10 indoors), and it works just fine. Usually, our temps sit around 10 degrees Celcius, except during the really hot days, then we're thankful it's a cool house.

Would love to live in London!... But sadly I’m not an oligarch...
@shaishannahbennett80554 жыл бұрын
Don't be sad to not be a member of an oligarchy, they're mostly inhuman, soulless creatures. Im talking elite/political factions. Filled with darkness to commit such atrocities upon humanity. But, the House is gorgeous. Don't know who the family are nor what factions they affiliate to. Do elaborate on your meaning to ensure I have not misinterpreted your meaning, thank you 😊
@oliverbolton83024 жыл бұрын
Shaishannah Bennett think it was more of a comment pointed at Russian oligarchs and the likes moving money offshore by buying super expensive properties in London. Central London has extortionate pricing because of foreign investment, a well known fact. If you go out, it’s a bit more affordable. Queen’s Park is not off the scale. Admittedly, compared to areas just half an hour by train it’s laughable in terms of property prices but ultimately a couple with well paying jobs and a rudimentary understanding of saving could help get on the ladder there and climb it over time, with help from parents of course

@@oliverbolton8302 nyc real estate crashed and people exodus nyc since you can work from home and moved to suburbs I am surprised this didn't happen in london?
@oliverbolton83024 жыл бұрын
@@AI-Consultant I am not too knowledgeable on the subject, but from what I understand New York was incredibly expensive in terms of overall living - plus people hated it there. London for the most part has people that love living there. Of course there are people moving away, because it is extremely busy and loud etc but it is still thriving quite a bit. It has a lot of attractions. Long term we will have to wait and see but big ticket sales for expensive properties are still happening a lot at the moment as per domus nova press releases. I don’t anticipate we will go to a 5 day wfh week, which should cause some people to stay in London. There is currently a stamp duty holiday (effectively a tax incentive) so that may be artificially growing demand for now. Let’s wait and see what happens following the end of the holiday
@canihazburgers4 жыл бұрын
@@AI-Consultant It has happened to a degree. Sales to the surrounding counties of London are at an all time high. Especially villages that offer country living but are still within a commutable distance.

Was this house on The House that 100k Built at some point? It looks familiar and that is my favourite show.
@jp993014 жыл бұрын
I feel like there's this narrative that gets perpetuated online about the crafty, design savvy do it yourselfer who buys a run-down property in an expensive place and then puts in their own blood sweat and tears to transform it into a beautiful oasis with only a modest investment. As a new homeowner who got a deal on an architercturally fascinating house in a fancy area that needed some work, I feel like this story is just flawed. It's not the hard work, although holy shit I've never worked so hard in my life. It's the amount of monetary investment involved in making even small changes, not to mention things like permit requirements and associated costs. The idea of DIY gutting a building and remaking it into something beautiful on the cheap like they so often show in these videos is just a myth.
@thegreaterconundrum4 жыл бұрын
Well thankfully this video didn't show that. This man is clearly very rich!
@jp993014 жыл бұрын
@@thegreaterconundrum Yeah, kind of. They label him as an "architectural designer", which isn't a career path that would ordinarily provide for a custom luxury home in London. He must have family money or own a studio or something, which is never explicitly stated. The only reason I know he's rich is because he has to be to have built that house.
@humankaleidoscope49894 жыл бұрын
Of course it's really expensive! I mean, I get what you mean, and point taken, but I think most people would understand that this isn't actually 'easy', or even doable at all, for the average person. To buy a house in london at all, whatever the house, is extremely expensive, never mind everything else that comes with renovating one.
@rayg49884 жыл бұрын
I don't get any impression from the video that says it was done cheaply. They just show the nice converted home. He didn't even mention the cost or easy to do it. As a DIY enthusiast it clearly is expensive and lots of work. But that was not the point of the video
@shawnw.44404 жыл бұрын
This video made no mention of price, cost, or diy (other than the design) so using this particular video to make your particular rant is misplaced and, well, petulant.
