They have to focus solely on flying the plane. This is protocol unless it's a small single pilot aircraft.

There are people who will find out and I will find out but I heard the last 3 minutes on Paul Begley last night and Mike works for the government has a classified clearance and he translated it. The pilot was almost on top of the plane and air traffic controller allowed him to do his own site, the radio frequency between the chopper and the plane was not operating why did they come from Saudi embassy? They're usually r4 soldiers and no name for the pilot so fishy!

We have had EEOC since the 80s..maybe not perfect but it leveled the playing field for hiring to prevent discrimination based on race,religion,etc. DEI now makes it ok to discriminate to mean quotas on race,religion,etc...leaving out merit as the driving issue.Merit should always be an employer's main consideration when hiring. So DEI is political but it should be illegal because it is an open door for quotas in hiring which is against the EEOC laws as originally passed and implemented.

I have a friend who used to fly small planes and I would go along on some of his flights. One thing I learned from him was the necessity to constantly scan the sky for other air traffic while in flight. There is no excuse for the helicopter pilot to not be aware of the plane.

Thank you for clearing this up. There's always some punk out there stirring the pot. I think these were the issues that caused the crash: ATC staff shortage. ATC doing two jobs. ATC should have told the helo to drop their elevation to 200. Should have shared more details. "Plane at 12 o clock, to your East. Do you see it? Drop your elevation to 200. You're on target to collide. Change coordinates to ####. Copy?" "Drop your elevation. Copy?" Helo forgot he had major blind spots and was at a busy airport. Maybe he was tired? Distracted?. He should have never asked for visual separation, given heavy air traffic. His instrumentation should have showed he was heading toward the airplane at the same elevation. Alarm should have gone off, giving him ample warning. Maybe the military shpuld provide additional ATCs? Military should not do training there. It just adds to the air traffic. Or the airport should close early, to allow open skies for military exercises? They need to build another airport. Too much air traffic.

the atc can tell a pilot to crash if he wants to, the helo pilot had full authority to take evasive/avoidance measures. A pilot doesnt need to wait for ATC commands to act. Wait 72 hours like Dan Bongino preaches.

You can listen to the conversation between tower and helicopter.....helicopter said they were taking responsibility for the separation after the tower told them about the plane, unfortunately they were looking at the WRONG plane

@JLR 100%, YOU don't let aircraft pass over under each other ar these levels of flight. Helicopter's rotor wash can cause the incoming CRJ to lose altitude very suddenly. Same with the vortex created off the wings of the crj helicopter would lose control in the wake of the jet passing so close.

I had listened to the Air Traffic Controller asking the military pilot, can you see the plane? The response was yes, then the ATC was speaking and the flash explosion. The ATC was difficult to understand and the vagueness asking do you see the plane, naming the specific craft. I believed it was the ATC who was problematic. Which craft did the pilot see, there were two planes, no instructions provided to avoid the crash, for example, drop or raise, only asked too late, do you see the plane, naming the plane. I had difficulty understanding the ATC speaking, as if a speech impediment existed.
