The 1940's was an interesting era for automobiles, the cars were large and bulbous, an amazing amount of metal went into each car. Jonathan, this barn find series has been a real adventure for us too, thanks for sharing.

No on the front end for the restaurant, sell the parts to someone who can get their car on the road... Let the restaurant know, that you'll find em something equally cool later, and you'll let em know...

Have to agree there are many parts on that car that could help someone, but hanging the grill and light's are going to get him lots of money plus the grill and light's still can be used after it use on the wall. A lot of parts are just hanging in garages why not a Restraunt.

Wifes name and pic. Mark here. I think the 36 Plymouth has a beautiful front end and using it as art is an excellent alternative. Congrats on your score and a big "Way to go man" on saving all that fine iron! Yours is 1 of 2 channels I watch daily. Thanks for showing a Southern California native how a North Carolina man can live life with little and be richer in knowlege, values and happiness in his own self made empire. Peace

Jonathan so great to see all your projects. You know a lot of people would love to have one restored vehicle and mostly it's going to sit in a garage. You can't enjoy it and very few people get to see it. When you bring 'um back they become drivers and people love it. Keep doing it your way! My grandmother bought a new 1936 Plymouth coupe. She was a smart lady and a school teacher but she didn't take to driving so my father got the car. He was still driving it in the mid '50's. One of his coworkers had a 1936 Plymouth 4dr that he was having trouble with. My father told him well you sell me your '36 for $25.00 or I'll sell you mine for $25.00. The fellow said you bought yourself a car. My father never did get the 4dr running but he parted it out to keep his going for a few more years. It's so great to see your '36. My hope is that you will do something with it but I know you will evaluate it and do the wisest decision for what's there.

Dear Johnathan W. Simply fantastic! 👍👌👏👏👏 Maaan, sooo great that you are able to rescue all those vehicles and the boat. Glad that you and your Misses will not have to shiver in wet and cold weather any more while fishing together. Fortunately you have enough space to store all those items on your own property. I'm really excited and looking forward to watch lots and lots of videos in the future while bringing nearly all this barn find stuff back to life and use. Hope your health is improving farther (although I'm a bit concerned because you seem to run out of breath one time in the video = really hope that I haven't heard the sound of a cigarette lighter). Hope everything is O.K. so far. By the way: Excellent job removing the tree without damaging the car. As always I want to thank you for making recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards luck health and wisdom. Postscriptum: Where is Clyde? Everything O.K. with him?

That '36 Plymouth is so rare and special, at least to me, that it needs saving or selling it intact. Sawing off the front and selling it to a restaurateur seems antithetical to your channel and its sort of (un)official "stated purpose". The front end is the best part too--what great styling. I love your plans for the boat and it would indeed be great for you and the wife and an comfort upgrade. Quintessential cabin cruiser there.

Jonathan.. To clean the fuel tank on the skid steer.. I heard of good results with removing the tank and putting gravel in it. Then you rotate it like a rock tumbler with some solvent in it. I am told that cleans them up pretty good.

I've been an outboard mechanic for 45 years. The inline Mercs were good engines, but use un-caged needle bearings on their connecting rods and intermediate main bearings. If they are not properly winterized and condensation causes watermarking on the crank journals, the needles skid rather than roll, and the engine will destroy itself. Teardown is a pain, and you need special clamp-style ring compressors to get the pistons back in the block (as a completed crank-rod-piston-ring package from the front, as the merc blocks are integral head. If the crank is ok, replace rings, all needles, rod bolts, reed valves, top and bottom main bearing carrier bearings and seals. It's a full day rebuild for a pro shop.

@brocluno01

That big old Merc outboard will be fine. As long as it has not got water in the motor, it should come right around. The issue with in-line Mercs is cooling the top cylinders. They get plugged with salt and yuck and won't push water up there. The fix is external water lines to the top of the motor. Not hard, then they run really well. Plenty of power. You'll like it :)

If you want to get there first, get a Mercury. If you want to get home at the end of the day, get an OMC. Or what ever some people usta say back in the day. That'll be an interesting first start on the tower of power. Hopefully it doesn't need much. Those old Merc outboards can get expensive quick when you need anything more than tune-up, or maintenance parts.
