Been a while since I’ve peeped your channel. It’s incredible how far you’ve come with this barn find. You learn as you go and just keep moving, regardless if it’s right or wrong. I’m currently refreshing my ‘92 E36 325i (it’s red too ❤️). It doesn’t need anywhere near what your barn find needs, but it’s still been years in the making. I work on it when I can, and when funds allow. Really looking forward to having her back on the road again. These barn find videos are great. I love watching them when I need a little motivation to make time to work on the car. BTW, if you haven’t figured out the squeal yet, I remember learning in class that a squeal that goes away when depressing the clutch pedal is a likely worn pilot bearing. From the looks of the clutch install video, I’m not sure you replaced that or the throw out bearing, which iirc, should be done while you’re in there. Keep the hard work up, Jon. The car looks beautiful!

Good video totally agree with what you said I had a 328i and these were great for the price. However my car came with a set on it already and you should let people know as well as do yourself, take some axle grease and grease the hell out of that pillow ball on the front two. The set that came on my car had completely destroyed that ball and it was bad.

Also btw if anyone haves a convertible e36, you have to access the rear shocks from the roof compartment and will be sealed with a rubber piece.

Fark, looks easier than my E39 525i m sport. I recently got a nice enough E36 318is manual and have shot suspension. Looks like it won't be as tough as changing shocks in the E39. Very cool.

Hi guys! Ive got those on my e36 318i touring for 2 months. At first it was undrivable and dangerous on the road because of the too stiff and jumpy rear. Rear shocks are much shorter than original ones and springs (with that "adjusting thing" set to the "lowest" height!!!) have same height as the original ones! So my solution was that I put out those "adjusting things" (fitted there just springs) and spread the shocks almost to the max (keep in mind to keep them in the "shell" at least for 2cm). Now it is much much better. That better that I have no problem daily driving it :P Sorry for all mistakes. I havent been practising english for a long time.
@LateNightRituals
@LateNightRituals 4 жыл бұрын
Update: i ditched the small spinning washer for real spring n raised half an inch. My rear driver side shock was bottom'd out. Thats why it was twerking the back. And that was because the top middle nut was loose and dampening needed to be re adjusted. Rides like a dream now. No prob.

I will prob just go with STR.T with lowering springs for now, but I would like to know what your experience with these were.

Seems to be a common misunderstanding about how to adjust coilovers, specifically the front in this case. The lower collar allows for adjustment of droop and rebound, it shouldn't be used for raising/lowering. Only the top collar(s) should be adjusted for ride height.

Hi Jon, I'm looking for installing these coilovers on my E92, what about the possibility to adjust the ground distance? I would like to keep the car not too low, it is possible to do? there is a good margin in the treaded part of the suspension body? And what about the dumping adjustment? It is sensitive the regulation? Thanks
@jspeedracing
@jspeedracing 4 жыл бұрын
Samuele Torelli hey man. Yes you can adjust the ride height. If you plan on daily driving the car for a while? Like at least a year. I’d say to spend the $ now and get some better coilovers. These are good for budget project cars but I wouldn’t daily drive them
@FaworDrifts

Price ofcourse is a factor, but overall they are working not as they should...springs for e46 are too soft. 24 steps of damping makes nothing. Rear shocks were knocking for the beginning at every bump AS HELL, so much that I had to remove them and replace to simple MTS shocks. Cambers have to tight bearings, you have to change them to some quality cambers, another way your self steering will be dead. Front is overall better as rear but mine left shock is working different as right one...worse, ofcourse...so overall - trash. Really trash. Even for 100$. I was buying it straight from the main distributor so..when somebody want to repay me that - will change my opinion :)
