CORRECTIONS: 1. When making stone and coins you get the amount shown to the LEFT of the cube, not underneath it! 2. Technologies cannot be used the same turn they are taken, so at 35:29 Red should not be able to gain this benefit from this city action.

Can you make this a sticky message so it is at the top of messages? Great video as always. Silent frequent watcher here who has appreciated your tutorials for a long time

Technologies CAN be used the same turn they are taken, as long as they are level III and IV. Only I and II are restricted to later a turn.

6:58 When you produce gold or stone, you actually collect the number of resources to the LEFT of your cube. So in your example, you wouldn't collect 3 stone, but 2 stone. This is in the first paragraph on page 8 of the rulebook. So when determining your resource production, you don't include the number beneath the cube.
@GettingGames4 жыл бұрын
Huh, it does appear you are right. Under produce it says you make it equal to your number of quarries, it was easy to miss above that where it states the number is equal to the number to the left of the cube. I'll add a correction.
@bigglesy46794 жыл бұрын
@@GettingGames Yeah, it's a bit counterintuitive, especially since the other tracks (Tech and University) do include the space their cube is on.

Just what I've been looking for! Simply fantastic. I was initially put off by the complexity of the rules but with your video it turned out the rules were not so hard to grasp. Thank you ♥

This looks so good! Point salad game that looks deep but ends after one in a half hours? Yes please!
@MurrRockstroh3 жыл бұрын
You may have mentioned it elsewhere (I was skipping around through the video), but at 29:08 you mention the red player will receive 5 gold, when the cube is sitting on the 5 space. He would only get 4. You did correct this for your end game scoring example later, but not here that I saw, and I double checked to make sure I had Klingon subtitles turned on. Thank you for the videos!

I pretty much bought this game just cause of the crazy-busy artwork. And thanks as usual Jon! for your hard work. One of the easiest to follow 'how to play/tutorial' youtubers. to follow.

Great video. Helped speed up getting the beast to the table. Quick to learn and lots to puzzle out for future games.

I love this game more and more with every gameplay 💜 thanks for the video! 😊 a little note to 35:30 - level 1 and 2 technologies cannot be used on the turn in which you take them, so even if you build the tile with the red cathedral icon, you wouldn't be able to get the bonus from the technology taken on that turn. Subscribed 👍🏻

Good catch! I've added a note about this to the Klingon subtitles and the pinned corrections comment.

Once again you’ve done a great play through! I’m with the rest that the art in this game is overwhelming!! But nonetheless I’m really drawn to this game-maybe it’s the point salad aspect. I’ve ordered it and excited to bring it to the table once it arrives! Just wanted to give you a pat on the back and say: Keep up the great work Jon. Thank you for taking your time out to create these great videos and for putting much effort, care and detailed work into them.👍🏼👏🏼

That's a lot of great mechanisms all in one package. Has shades of Trajan, with the multiple mini games, an action selection mechanism a little reminiscent of Kraftwagen, an icon matching spatial puzzle like Tawantinsuyu, and some really beautiful components. Cool stuff.

At 25:45 you say we can build on any empty yellow space, and you point to and briefly set a tile on yellow spaces next to a plaza site that has no plaza tile on it. There's a thread on BGG debating this: can you build on spaces next to plazas without tiles on them (in the 1-3 player game). It's inconclusive and the designer or publisher never chime in. I agree with you, I think the English rulebook is clear: you can build on any empty yellow space. Have you heard a clarification?
@GettingGames Жыл бұрын
I haven't heard a clarification, I didn't realize this point was up for debate. That's a shame.

is there a way to lower the tracker for quarry and mine in the game? if not, and the players start at no.3, then previous boxes and places for cubes are redundant. Also, in some types of actions, effects activate on the spot of the cube, and for others, the effects are to the left of it. Both small oversights could have been cleared up from the design standpoint. But anyway, the game is Czech, and these folks are not known for making simple things. As long as they work. Greetings from Czechs' little brothers' country.

Got an idea! I am okay with "not full" playthroughs, but I am still very curious about final scores. As you said, you are trying to follow different strategies by different players, so to calculate scores and to conclude will be very useful, innit?)
@GettingGames4 жыл бұрын
This would require me to play through the rest of the game even with the camera off, and unfortunately I just don't think the benefit is worth time that'd take.

Great video as always, the only thing I would ask is to improve the pronunciation of some foreign names:) you don’t pronounce the “g” in regni for example, I know this might be insignificant, but it really hurts the ear😉

I couldn't finish watching this. You did a great job, Jon, but this game is a mess. To be honest I think my impression is heavily coloured by years of disappointment with board games. Usually they have been getting much better in the art department (this game is an exception, the art is terribly obfuscating), and there has definitely been major improvements in components (this game is a decent example), but mechanics have not improved over that time. Often those mechanics are just plain boring (due to bad design or lack of innovation), or they are complex/tedious/disjointed (due to poor/limited play testing, often in-house). Watching a game played is still my favourite way to learn it; I look forward to the day I watch a playthrough that entices me back.

I'm sorry to hear that, and hope you get to that day sooner rather than later :)
