Thanks for making a video that actually illustrates how the game is played. Way too many of the folks with board game channels seem to think they need to be charismatic and humorous, which usually results in a group of nerds with zero charisma trying way too hard to be clever and doing a piss-poor job of actually explaining the game. You've skipped the bullshit and gone straight into showing exactly how Steampunk Rally works. Well done! P.S. If you spend a cog to remove a die with a single pip, you can remove one more pip from another die (i.e. you're allowed to split the pips removed across two dice).

At 50:42, after removing flywheel, isn't that placement illegal?

Yeah. 5 years ago KZbin had a feature called "annotations" that let me put corrections on screen with word bubbles. Subsequently KZbin removed this functionality and corrections that I added also vanished. These days I put corrections like this in Klingon subtitles, but for old videos like this it doesn't ask viewers to turn them on so it seems ineffective.

at 28:02, why didn't you vent the 5 and 6 down to 3, so you would remove all the dice with the boost card?

It appears I probably should have done that in retrospect, perhaps I had something else on my mind while playing the game or simply missed a good action that was avaliable to me.

Your playthrough makes me want to try this game. I think I'd prefer the game have some more interactive cards though. Of course the draft is interactive, but I'm worried the on track racing won't feel quite right to me if there isn't more interplay.

+TheSpruta There are quite a few boost cards which do affect other players, some of them are nasty like the one played on me in this game. In general it is abit multi-player solitaire when it comes to direct interaction, but I don't think you can say this playthrough shows you how many there are. I am also not a huge fan of big direct interaction so it's possible that I played some of the racers to be abit more passive than others would. All that being said, it does seem to not have a "bumping and jostling for position" feel that some racing games do.

+JonGetsGames Well good, that makes me want to try the game even more. As long as attackish cards aren't so strong that they ruin someone else's game, I think they're fun. You had Cities and Knights for Settlers of Catan ranked highly and that's a game that I feel has a just about perfect level of take-that cards.

Thats true, but he put a 4 in the Penny Farthing, which only needs a one, so it wouldnt have mattered as he could just have done it the other way :)

54:08 Couldn't you have simply removed the Blue 4, and when you removed the blue 3 you had 1 pip remaining to turn the blue 4 to a 3.

Question about damage: In reading the instructions it looks like your damage tracker moves down to -7 and then your next damage is an 'X' for removing a piece. After which your damage gets moved back to -7. Shields repair the damage to mitigate it but unless your damage meter shows the 'X' you don't remove a piece of your car. Do the instructions say otherwise that I may have missed it?

That X means you immediately remove a piece, the rest of the damage you remove in the damage phase of every turn.

It's legal as long as there is a continuous line of full circle connections from every card back to the pilot. So this is fine because the left side of the Gyrostat is connected to the Flywheel with a full seal, which is connected to the Steam Vent, which is connected to the Pilot card.
