@@TanukiOfficial To clarify, I'm talking about Cast Iron. Specifically, the cast iron bottoms. I often had the cast iron at higher temperatures. Maybe that's why it was so hard to remove. *Revised, thanks @Yocray* Um... You could lay a silicone baking sheet, *wadded Aluminium foil* , or similar product over a flat hob to protect the glass; gives a bit of room for mistakes. *Silicone max temp is 450⁰F or 220⁰C* It won't change the induction transfer much. *Anything that's thin, non-magnetic, can take the temperature & can spread out impacts should work.* *Aluminium does react to changing magnetic fields, but not with heat; it may or may not work*

I use a carbon steel flat bottom wok. I run the burner a little hotter so need to pretty much be continually stirring and ready to pull off the heat for 15 seconds or so. I find the cooler sides a benefit when I add eggs. I pour them onto the sides and they don’t overcook as easily. Nice tender egg in the mix.

Thank you for the video, really inspired me and I've watched all of your wok videos. Does anyone know where to buy one of these in the UK? I'm really struggling here. I've found one from a Pakistan company Chef King but it has very few reviews if any. I'm wondering if it's too niche or if its not my only option at home for best emulating wok cooking. Is it not also just as good to get a standalone has hob with a wok ring, or is induction that much better? It's 200 pounds so i need to be sure!

I have this wok/hob combo, and once I got the hang of it, I get excellent results I could never get with my flat bottom wok on induction cooktop. My only complaint is the induction coil is VERY small at the bottom of the wok -- professional wok burners have a little auxiliary heat a bit further up the side of the wok. That wouldn't be such a big thing except the metal of the included wok is paper thin. I might ask the Asian market the next time I go if I could bring this little wok to see if I can match the curvature in a thicker walled wok to use with the hob.
@JDH3666
@JDH3666 Жыл бұрын
Hi. What do you believe is the advantage of a thicker walled wok? I really like the lighter weight of the wok which comes with the hob. Is it a heat conductivity issue?

@@JDH3666 yes, the induction coil on this unit is very small -- Smaller than the smallest eye of my moderately priced induction cooktop. The very bottom of the wok is blazing hot, but centimeters away is stone cold. It would be nice to have a larger working hot zone, even if just a little.

What? Induction cooker use magnet to heat up the cookware. The cooker itself does not heat up. The timing between decommission jey engine and induction cookwr is different. But the round style cooker doesnt concentrate energy at the bottom. It impart energy to the surfaces that are enclosed by magnet in the cooker, which usually is not just the bottom.
