Simple question… Who does better in their first 8 years with Shaq, Kobe or LeBron? Check out Dom’s video here to listen to his argument in full… kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYO2aomeic2Bjck

I honestly think that Kobe would have been better. the names don't matter, it's the playstyles. Most arguments would come from things beyond the court. "Lebron wouldn't have been selfish" ect. Considering how some wins came down to a closer, lebron couldn't do that. Especially a young lebron.

We would have but LeBron quit in the 09 and 10 East playoffs to avoid a goat-staining finals loss to Kobe's Lakers. LBJ is the most calculated player in NBA history. He made sure he put up stats (38/8/8 as his 66-16 Cavs choked to Dwight Howard's 59-23 Magic) while failing to close out defensively on approximately 178 Rashard Lewis 3's in the 2009 ECF. In 2010, the Cavs were the overall #1 seed (62-20) for the second straight year. Once Kobe's Lakers took control vs. Denver in the WCF, LeBron quit in 3 straight games as the Cavs lost in 6 to Boston after being up 2-1. After Kobe's Lakers won back to back rings, LeBron teamed up with two other top 5 picks from his own draft class to beat Kobe. Dwyane Wade admitted a few months ago on the Skweek Show that he and LeBron teamed up to beat Kobe. LeBron started the superteam era because he knew he couldn't beat Kobe in the Finals. Now, Klutch sports and Rich Paul have brainwashed the basketball media into believing the goat debate is LBJ vs. MJ.

You are the type of fan to say "Everything is LeBron's fault" while ignoring everything else. LeBron wasn't great in the 2007 Finals yet he was still the best player on his team, so what does that tell you about his team? Also Bron made it to 8 straight finals after 2010 while Kobe didnt fill up his end of the bargain. Kobe only averaged 23 against the Mavs and got SWEPT. Then v OKC, he averaged 31 on 26 shots a game including 11% from 3 and a TS% of 51.5. Why do fans like you always think LeBron is at fault for every single loss while Kobe gets a pass🤦‍♂️

LBJ fans often claim he'd have been a better fit alongside Shaq because he's an elite floor general/distributor, but that is factually incorrect. His TOV to AST ratio, TOV from bad passes to TOV from lost balls ratio, and TOV% (turnovers per 100 possessions) are comparable to some other ball-dominant players not known as elite distributors. For example, they're virtually identical to Ja Morant's, along with the same average of assists per game. Not to mention, the Lakers ran the legendary triangle offense where a high-usage distributor isn't advantageous. Edit: To the lazy people unwilling to check Basketball Ref, the first two stats are under the Play-By-Play section.

Pretty sure Dom was talkin about Bron and Shaq maximizing their potential because they wouldn’t clash on and off the court, I don’t think he was saying BronxShaq is literally a greater duo than KobexShaq or that their games compliment each other more. As great as they were, the Kobe Shaq duo didn’t maximize their potential. Whereas that’s less likely to be a problem with Bron. I think Kobe being able to shot the ball and guard the other opposing guards at a Dpoy level at times helps, he also shown he can play off ball. Bron in first 8 years was extremely turnover prone in the offs, couldn’t really shot, and needed the ball in hands. He might make it up with his better slashing playmaking and defensive versatility, but considering Kobe was also very versatile defensively, along with Shaq being on the team so you don’t really need bron to attack the basket I rather want Kobe personally. They probably win the same amount though considering they probably trust bron as a talent more which means he’ll have a better relationship with Shaq, unlike Kobe where he only got real opportunity with Phil everyone else underutilized him.

Lastly, I think LeBron would have brought the best out of Shaq from an off-the-court perspective, as he got along much better than Kobe with superstar and role player teammates alike. This probably leads to overall better output from Shaq, a longer stay in LA, and an eventual graceful handing over the keys to LeBron, something Kobe never had the chance to experience. So while I do think you have some valid points, there is some more off the court nuance that wasn't considered.

Lebron has had over 20 years to improve his mid-range shooting. He switched teams 3 times and his playing style hasn't changed much. He has an offensive play style that maximizes himself and he doesn't adjust for anyone. If someone doesn't fit his style, he wants them gone. He doesn't make players better. He helps shooters who fit into his style. Everyone else is trade fodder.

Lebron doesn’t make teammates Better unless they are 3-pt specialists. 2nd Lebron is Literally Mediocre at Best in the Mid-Range Game. 3rd of all, You seriously don’t know what your Talking about when it comes to off the Court. Kobe And Shaq Brought the Best out of Each Other. Their Differences caused the beef but it also brought the Best out of Each Other. Shaq needed someone that Would Hold Him Accountable AND he can keep in check. When has Lebron EVER take Full Accountability Without Excuses?? So the problem is when Shaq does bad, Lebron would throw him under the bus. But Lebron would NEVER let Shaq hold him accountable. Why do you think every time things get Tough Lebron Goes to Another Team? Because he’s not Mentally Tough like Kobe. Imagine what Lebron gonna do when Shaq tells Lebron to hold his Bags? The chemistry between a Prime Shaq and a Prime Lebron Would NEVER Work. I watched Both Men’s Primes. It would never Work Out.

I think LeBron's Alpha ego would have clashed with Shaq's super Alpha bully ego, the same way Kobe's Alpha clashed with Shaq. There would have been a debate about whose team it was and all that, though I personally believe the Lakers from 1996 to 2003 were totally Shaq's team. After 2003, it was Kobe's.
@YoungblazinKTN
@YoungblazinKTN Ай бұрын
I’d argue that 2001, 2002 both Shaq and Kobe were Equals but Shaq had the Easiest Matchups in the Finals so they played thru Shaq. That’s literally what happened and Shaq confirmed that himself. Furthermore, Shaq Literally said “if Kobe wanted to he could’ve Won those FMVPS” keyword could’ve meaning they could have played thru Kobe and Won, but it was Way Easier to Play thru Shaq!!!

Happy Thanksgiving, Jonny! I appreciate your videos and the hard work by you and your editor :) I hope you and yours have a nice Thanksgiving! God bless. Dom made some great points, but I agree with your argument. I think what made your points more convincing was LeBron's perimeter and long range shooting (particularly in his early years) were not as good as Kobe's. That definitely leads to spacing issues. I also agree about the difference in free throw shooting. LeBron is okay at FTs while I consider Kobe a good FT shooter (IIRC his FT% was in the 80s and LeBron's is more in the 70s). Great video and Happy Thanksgiving again!

Bron always needed 2 great players in his system to shine like a Wade and bosh, love and Kyrie , thats the problem with the lakers, doing all the trading, as a duo he aint good enough shooting mids 38 perc and 3’s 34 perc, even his freetrows are average 77 perc. Also his footwork , skillset, postup ain’t that great , just his right hand dunks . Ill take Kobe any time as a duo!!

Everything you said in the video pretty much sums all it up! People think just because LeBron is a "great passer", he'd be the better player to tandem with Shaq. And yes I quote-unquoted his passing game because they've been overhyped. He's more ball dominant and don't believe can play in the triangle system.

Fun fact, lebron has a higher 3 point average than kobe. + he has had more seasons of averaging 40% from 3 than kobe. But yeah 😅. Im also curious, how many times did kobe bring his dumpster fire team to the finals? Cuz i can count atleast 2 times lebrons teams had 0 business being in the finals. But you know lebron james 😂 he didnt go out and average 35 and say fuck his teammates, he made them better around him. I feel like people love to forget HOW HORRIBLE some of kobes teams were and he didnt make it ANY better 😂 idk why being a ball hog and not contributing to building a team is held in higher regard than bringing up those around you, and you know actually winning games and playoff series 😂

LeBron and Shaq would have worked, Wade wasnt a great shooter either and he got a ring with an out of his prime Shaq... They would have figured it out, theres no coutch free throws when you are up 20 the whole game lol and LeBron can flip the switch whenever he wants, he skated throughout regular seasons then flipped the switch for playoffs.. it just depends on his teammates, are they in a rhythm where LeBron uses his playmaking to beat a team or are they struggling and he uses his scoring to take over... Its whatever the team needs.. and hes a constant professional so Shaq wouldnt leave because they had beef either... But like he said, all hypothetical

That's a great point about D Wade, he was more a slasher/get to the rim kind of guy as well. Wade was not a great shooter. It's wild to think Shaq and LBJ wouldn't have worked, LBJ would of played his roll and he wouldn't have beefed with Shaq and Phil. Look what LBJ did his first 7 years in Cleveland with no other all star caliber players, no bench and sub par coaching. But somehow LBJ isn't going to have success with the most dominate player in the league and a hall of fame proven winning coach!?
