If you were to pick the next player to get a statue outside of their arena, who would you pick?? I generally agree but if I have to nitpick, you said Unseld&Hayes shouldn't get a statue because those are not for one-time championships... but then you had one for Bill Walton who overall had less success with Portland than those two had with Washington. I think it's better to say none of them was the clear unquestioned "locomotive" of those Washington Finals teams... as opposed to Walton in Portland.
@danielkopolovic72183 ай бұрын
Yeah, some inconsistent standards. Iverson = 1 final, Miller = 1 final, Walton = 1 final, 1 championship, Jokic = 1 final, 1 championship, Gianninis = 1 final, 1 championship. These are all "statue worthy" resumés, but Unseld takes his team to the finals 4 times and is mvp of their only championship, but misses the cut. Not to mention he spent his whole career with the franchise, was ROY and MVP in 1969, and was a multiple time all-star. I see an argument saying Hayes split his time with the rockets, but Unseld should be a lock.
@xl87513 ай бұрын
@@danielkopolovic7218agreed. Personally I think there should be fewer statues in general. @jasonnelson66243 ай бұрын
@@LelekPLN I can appreciate that Westbrook was there 12 years compared to kd's 9. It's just weird to me how Kd years were better and it was Westbrook who shot them out of the playoffs. Not to mention presti picked Westbrook over kd. I like Westbrook but he shouldn't have the green light or be the 1st option when Kd is in the team. Yet he was, I get why their fans would be upset. But honestly if your so called franchise player comes to you and says he wants Harden and ibaka over Westbrook, and Pesti keeps Westbrook. If your kd wouldn't you leave? You just got done watching curry kill Westbrook and you now his sidekick then you have the warriors begging you along with Jerry West telling you how easy you will score and how unselfish they are. Plus almost everyone knows kd can be sensitive and needs to feel wanted as we saw if he feels unwanted he leaves. But thanks for answering I can see your point I still think kd's 9 was better than Westbrook 11 but I can also understand how it felt like he stayed when kd left.

@@LelekPLN Kd's career is weird of course OKC fans dislike or even hate him. Which obviously a person understand reguardless of how he left. He sacraficed his legacy but saved the warriors. They begged him to join he took less money so they could resign Iggy and Livingston and he offered to give back more in case Iggy didnt resign they could then get Rudy Gay. Then Draymond calls him a bitch and says they don't want or need him he should go. The warriors fans enjoyed winning but they hate him. It just funny and odd to me he has all the skill and talent you could want he doesnt have any issues off the court in fact he spends almost all his time playing basketball. I really thought nba fans would have wanted him on their team and valued his game more then they do. Especially the warriors fans that blew my mind his legendary took a huge hit by going their and he brings 2 titles when bob Myers said without kd they couldn't beat the Cavs even if everyone was healthy. Great video, Jonny! Like FlymoufDiction, I'm surprised to hear that the Pistons do not have a statue of Isiah Thomas. I absolutely agree that there should be a statue of him. He definitely was integral to their success and their dynasty (while also being one of the greatest point guards of all time). I also strongly agree with having Tim Duncan and David Robinson statues also. It also surprises me to hear that there are no statues of either of them, given how they both were amazing players who were integral to San Antonio's success (I know Robinson was beyond his prime in 2003, but he is still one of the best who has ever played and was integral to their 1999 run). I really hope they both get statues. I second your pick for having a statue of Reggie. He was a great player and, as you indicated, loyal to Indiana. I was a fan of his while growing up and I remember how great he was. I was sad that he never got a ring, but yes, like you, I see him as one of the few exceptions for those who don't have a ring but deserve a statue. I don't think I really have any disagreements with your list. Originally, I thought that Unseld should have a statue, but you make a great point about how he only has one title. So, while I wouldn't be unhappy if Washington had a statue of him, I also see a solid case against having a statue for him. Great video again, Jonny. Have a great evening :).

You have to be watching that team day in and day out for years to truly appreciate how great of a player he is. I never seen a player quarterback a team like he did. He always had everyone in the right defensive positition. I'd go to games and you could hear him predicting and calling out the other team's offense. He could also guard 1 through 5. If you ever wondered why stacked teams like the Thunder, Rockets and Clippers never won titles, it's because they didn't have a Draymond keeping everything in order in the highest pressure situations. I think if he just had a good co star and decent support he would've had at least a finals appearance if not a chip. I also think Zac Randolph needs a statue in Memphis. While he hadn't accomplished much there his career is define by his time with the team, and he was vital to the overall gritty and energetic nature of the team's culture and Identity. Also he is a very popular figure in Memphis and has done much for the community outside of the court.

I would have said Mel Daniels or George McGinnis before Reggie, but really, I’d say all three. Pacers fan, so I’ve been to a few me games. The organization really values their ABA legends more than you might realize. There is a reason 4 of the 5 retired jerseys were part of at least 2 of their 3 ABA chips. I don’t see them honoring Reggie without at least those two.

Walton did so much for the Blazers in a short period while he was healthy so when he passed away that should have been a time to give him a statue

I feel like Dr. J would have gotten a statue by the Nets, but he’s definitely seems like he leans more towards the 76ers organization in his old years then the nets

Greg PoP needs a statue. Duncan is over rated because they place him at the top due to accolades when there's plenty of players better than him. Also, people want to say Duncan is the primary reason PoP won when it's the other way around.

10:24 Jerry west did. Let's stop ignoring just how stacked and cohesive that team was. Goat brain

It's an insult that Reggie hasn't gotten a statue in Indy, Isiah hasn't have one in Detroit and Hakeem haven't got one in Houston

Tony, Duncan, and Manu should all get statues next to each other imo

If Jokic gets one if he retires tomorrow then Rick Barry needs one.

Garnett deserves a statue too. A decade spent trying to turn his team around. Via problems-management.

Agreed with most of your takes. But I think Suns need one for Nash

I strongly disagree with AI deserving a statue. He went once to the NBA finals and lost 4-1, why does he deserve a statue?

Only players who led their teams to at least one championship deserve their statue.
