Joost lost his father when he was 12. A year later he lost his mother. After that he started wondering around Europe but no matter where he went , he could not get rid of the pain he went trough. He always watched Eurovision with his parents and promised them that one day he would be on that stage. In the end when everything is burning is the moment that he tries leave the pain behind and move on. You should react to the official video of this song also You will see a lot of 90’s stuff in there. about the radio thing, he turns on the radio and hears Stromae's "papaoutai", which translates to "dad where are you" Stromae is a belgian artist who blew up 10 years ago out of nowhere and disappeared for many years after that, but this specific song is about growing up without a dad and wondering if he can be a good dad too (he lost his father in the rwandan genocide)

Wow, thank you so much! You informed yourself beforehand and thus recognized, lived through, experienced and appreciated the most important layers and variety of emotional levels right away. (Although the subtitles were often messed up.) And the more you'll listen to it and watch the official video, the more you'll find ... Yes, he's taking us back to the 90's/early 2000's here, where he is stuck since his parents died. You seem to be interested in a wide range, please consider looking at more of Joost's art. All his songs are so different and have many layers and depth: Sometimes barely recognizable, sometimes right into your face until you cry. You will be amazed at what awaits you ☺️

Did you knew that Joost (pronounce as Yoast) have got more points then Switzerland (Nemo) in the 2nd semi final, so we would have won Eurovision for sure! EBU didnt wanted that probably. They are crazy

I liked your reaction, especially when you mentioned 2Unlimited. As far as I understand, that part of the song was actually written by Paul Elstak, another one of the big ones from that era and that genre, so you were very close... By the way, Joosts (pronounced just like "ghost" btw) 2023 performance at Lowlands is great too (and his song Florida 2009 in itself as well). Actually, you might not dislike anything in the Joost Klein rabbit hole 😀
