I lived in the region for 23 years. I enjoyed my time there. Made friends there and got to learn how to converse in Arabic. While there, the Palestinians living in Jordan, members of the PLO and the PLFP challenged the rule and authority of King Hussein, the father of King Abdullah.They attempted a not so subtle coup against the Hashemite Kingdom. The King called on the loyal Bedouin tribes to put the Palestinians to rout. They were defeated and expelled from Jordan and fled to Lebanon. I lived in Beirut at the time. Within 2 years of being given refuge in Lebanon they started taking over parts of Beirut. They set up roadblocks with young armed men demanding you show your ID before they let you pass They constructed a network of tunnels where they stored their arms. As it was to be expected, the Christians, led by Bashir Gemayel challenged their behavior. The Christian militia, challenged the PLO .The Lebanese army was in no position to exert its authority. It was poorly armed with a low morale. It fell to the Israelis to join with the Christian militia to make sure the PLO were defeated and denied a stronghold in Lebanon on Israels doorstep. The War was short and the PLO were beaten badly. They sued for a truce and were then convoyed to ships waiting to take them to Libya. The Kings noble speech does not tell how the Palestinians tried to overturn the rule of the King of Hussein. The Palestinians, sadly, are their own worst enemy. There's the PLA, duly elected and then there's HAMAS the terrorist wing that challenges the PLA. There will never be a 2 State solution. There's too much money to be made stirring up trouble and countries like Iran fund their activities. When Iran is defeated and the Palestinians lose their banker they'll start talkig peace. The Saudis and the Emirates have grown tired of them demanding money.

I totally agree with you, thou I am native Palestinian and my family live in Gaza, it' is not about being muslim, christian or jewish, it is about being fair to the Palestinian people who need to come out from this situation and realize peace, unfortunatly, my family tells me that Hamas is taking the Palestinians as hostages in Gaza to stregnthen it's stand and beg for more money from Iran and Qatar with the excuse of batteling for freedom, while in reality they want to kick the Israelians out and take over the "historical Palestine", that is why they will never accept peace, untill the day comes that the only people to help them out of their misery will be the Israelians them selves, then they will understand that all Arabs and muslim world only gave them words of comfort and utopian concepts cheating on them to maintain the status quo, but will they ever wake up? and start real peace talks with Israel?

Erfan Tari: yes is a nice enough speech. Although he is one of the parties in agreeing the Gerard cusherner Palestinian treaty, without the involvement of any Palestinians during negotiations or agreement of said treaty. Also has been offered a deal/been paid to revoke the refugee status for the hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees in Jordan and give them Jordanian citizenship. So they no longer have the right to return to any meager state of Palestine they may deem suitable to give to the hand full of Palestinians that may still be alive when they have finished bulldozing villages and bombing hospitals. Not to mention evicting families.

The knotty problem is not the 2-state settlement; the root-cause is inflexible islam (BTW, not a religion;a hateful, militant, viscious cult, craftily garbed as a religion).
