Massacre of colonists by British red coats that started American revolution. Except they kind of ignore the part where three percent ARE stopped... And more and more shootings happen in places where ordinary citizens are NOT allowed to carry; faires, gun "free" zones, concerts, SCHOOLS, ca, ny... Isn't it clear that all a gun free zone REALLY does is create a comfortable environment for criminals looking to shoot people???!!! Could not be more clear to me.
@kingkunta7058
@kingkunta7058 3 жыл бұрын
@@beargillium2369 Again, that is not how mathematics work. Guns are used in 54% of homicides around the world. That figure is up to 73% in the US. And America has a gun homicide rate that is 25 times higher than other rich countries. Basically, guns are causing thousands of deaths, so even if you count the 3% chance that they might save you, it's not worth it.
@beargillium2369
@beargillium2369 3 жыл бұрын
@@kingkunta7058 but what is not worth it? There are more guns in America than people, it's not a simple task to stop criminals from acquiring them, and all legislation does is make legal owners more defenseless. So when you say "it's not worth it," AGAIN, what is the "it" you're talking about that is the thing not worth? Can you show me any statistics on crimes prevented by guns? No, because when a crime is prevented (say a guy thinks to rob me at an atm machine then thinks better when he sees I'm armed. Or my wife is out running and doesn't get grabbed into the bushes because a lot of people carry in our area and the "bad guys" KNOW it), there's NO record kept of it. By that false logic, you would say that seat belts don't save lives either, because the FACT it that MANY people are killed by seatbelts, but we're not trying to make fabric illegal are we? You'll say "oh but in this accident if not for the seatbelt person could have died" correct! And if not for armed citizens, as in legally armed, more criminals could more easily commit crimes without fear of repercussion. Here's a stat: every single place in America where gun control has been adopted, has had a significant increase in violent crime. Look that up for yourself. Background checks? Yes, all for it. Red flags? Absolutely. Recognition of criminal intent is far more important than creating crimes by making things ordinary people already possess illegal. Tell me what would happen to all the newly illegal guns? I'll tell you: they will end up on the black market, as already happens, when law enforcement seizes a gun, do you know what they do? They SELL IT IN ANOTHER JURISDICTION. What will happen if there's NO legal jurisdiction? One of two things: only cops will have all these guns(such wonderful people? Not ideal.). Or, corrupt cops will sell to criminal elements for exorbitant prices. Lots of money to be made for corruption of gun control, prices will go sky high. And what will change? Look at australia. They mostly eliminated guns, hooray! Except now they're RIFE with violent home invasions, because guess what? Even there, CRIMINALS CAN STILL GET GUNS BECAUSE LAWS DON'T STOP CRIMINALS.
@kingkunta7058
@kingkunta7058 3 жыл бұрын
@@beargillium2369 The fact that there are so many guns in America didn't happen out of nowhere, it is a direct consequence of loose gun regulations. Don't confuse causes with consequences. And if guns prevent homicides, why is it that other wealthy countries have considerably lower homicide rates ? The UK, for instance, has a homicide rate that is 5 times lower than the US. And comparing seatbelts with guns is pointless, seatbelts are rarely used in homicides, in no way do they make you more likely to die.
@kingkunta7058
@kingkunta7058 3 жыл бұрын
Just think about this for a moment. In the US, from 2009 to 2018, there were 288 school shootings. 288. In the same time span, in Germany, there was one. So clearly, your argument about "gun-free" zones is wrong too.

They've just become so commonplace in America. If there was a shooting anywhere in Europe, even with no casualties, that'd be headlines for *weeks and months*. And more training than most police get annually for _all_ training, so how much of that do you figure goes to firearms? Most concealed carry holders spend more time than the police training in proficiency with their firearms and are far more reticent to deploy their weapon, not just because they don't get "qualified immunity", but because they _really_ don't want to have to use it. I'm sure that's true of most police, too, but not the ones making headlines recently.

As a sports shooter in germany it is amazing to see how easy it is to legally carry a concealed fiream in public spaces in the USA. And without any training. To be able to own a gun i had to be a member of a shooting club for 12 months, do at least 12 training sessions (usually target shooting at minimum distance of 25m) plus a two day theoretical and practical training session with the gun association including a practical and theoretical test in all things gun related, but with a large focus on legislation around firearm usage. With that i could apply for my gun owners card, which involved a background check with all intelligence agencies, police and court records, which in itself took 3 weeks, the whole card thing is handled by the police in my area. To be able to buy a gun that is not enough though. I have to apply for that at the police again, they put a stamp in my gun owners card detailing exactly what kind of gun in which maximum caliber i can buy. With that i go to my gunshop, order the gun i want. Once i have that, the gunshop has to enter the firearm registraction code into the card, i have to go back to the police who has to confirm that and put the guns information in the national firearms register under my name. Oh, and if i want to buy the fitting ammunition, i have to get an approval for that as well. Yup, i jumped through all the hoops and have now two handguns, which i am not allowed to carry in public. Only on a gun range, and unloaded in my own home. I can transport it of course, but it has to be unloaded and secured against theft and immediate use. Oh, and due to the pandemic i still have the roughly 8k rounds of ammunition i bought last march and couldn't use as all gun ranges are closed. And that brings new problems, as i have to train at least once a month (and document that) to be allowed to keep my guns. Do we have gun crime in Germany? Yes, we do. Both from illegal firearms and legal ones, although the latter is actually quite rare.

It's completely out of control. This law passed in the state of Texas a few months ago. Basically, anyone over age 21 in Texas can carry any gun anywhere they want to, and they don't need any training beforehand. "Per House Bill 1927 signed into law by Gov. Abbott, open carry is fully legal for anyone over 21 years of age since September 1, 2021. Known by supporters as “constitutional carry,” House Bill 1927 allows Texans 21 and over to carry handguns - openly or concealed - without obtaining a state-issued license, so long they are not excluded from possessing a firearm by another federal or state law."
