Her arguement is invalid regardless because British law does not allow for women to be offenreds of rape. S.1 sexual offences act (offence of rape) requires a "MALE" penis to penertrate a mouth, anus or vagina. It is biologically and legally impossible under current British law for a female or even a transgender male (female to male transition) to commit rape. Given that it is impossible to use it as a justificatio for her arguement because there is not a women in British history who has ever been charged with the offence.

"Men and women throughout history have fundamentally cooperated to push back against **the absolute catastrophe of existence**." How I like that phrasing.
@justthunderbolt405 жыл бұрын
Actually that was the only wrong thing he said. He was spot on analyzing the western society and explaining how competence is different than power, but to look back at the medieval times(or any other time in history except the last century) and say that men and women cooperated on the same level is pure nonsense. Women had literally no rights or opportunityes back then, therefore it wasn't a cooperation between equal beings:it was patriarchy.
@BaremetalBaron5 жыл бұрын
@@justthunderbolt40 I would say that is wrong. Men and women made tradeoffs, and many of the privileges men were given burdened them with heavy obligations, and women got a hell of a lot of entitlements and protections for the things they gave up. I can't honestly say the typical woman back then would have likely wanted to trade places. Indeed, studies of happiness and quality of life have traditionally had women coming out on top. The fundamental problem with the historical patriarchy argument is that it assumes power is MERELY power. But power, socially constrained within a community, comes at a cost, and actually takes the freedom to do certain things away. So it's really not immediately obvious who got the better deal when you look back soberly at history.
@justthunderbolt405 жыл бұрын
@@BaremetalBaron Surely men had heavy obligations and dutyes to fulfill, such as being always available for the lord to call as levy in a war;however, wars were also opportunityes to become either rich raiding enemy towns and villages, or either managing to capture an enemy lord and being knighted for this. War was hell, but also a way to improve their position. It's right to say that power doesn't only come in strength in a civilized society, however the daughter of a farmer had nearly 0 possibilities to improve her position or to change her life:she would continue to clean the house and raise the childrens after marrying someone of the village. She could not learn any profession, nor marry a noble. They may be happier because they had more security than men, but this doesn't mean that they had the same opportunityes.
@BaremetalBaron5 жыл бұрын
@@justthunderbolt40 Fair enough, you're probably right that they had less agency to shape their lives. My point was just that many of the things they lacked (such as voting) had a corollary burden (civil service and conscription) that they weren't required to take on. Voting is a great example, because when polled, the vast majority of 19th century American women didn't WANT the vote because they didn't want to give up certain freedoms they already enjoyed in exchange for the responsibilities of service. So it's difficult to look at that as oppressive when many of men's rights were merely facilitators of their ability to provision and protect women. Also, the notion that women couldn't learn any profession is simply incorrect. There were trade guilds for female blacksmiths all the way back in the 14th century, and plenty of women were brewers or tavern owners or weavers.
@justthunderbolt405 жыл бұрын
@@BaremetalBaron I didn't know about the female guilds, thanks for the information. Voting is an excellent example to show that often we value security over freedom,but in medieval times neither men had the luxury to choose their lord, unless they rebelled against him.

It's not all that difficult to destroy the feminist narrative. Just throw facts at them. JP does it quite well.
@leroy305 жыл бұрын
The difficulty lies in the way they express and often twist and manipulate the narrative. Usually when you counter an argument, the woman/opposing person will say "yeah but this, this and this, so therefore it's obvious" and all you end up doing is defending against their ever-morphing rationale which plays out as you are constantly on the defense which portrays you as being on the losing side. JP is very good at his rebuttal, but women are very very crafty. My ex wife used to do it to me all the time. To paraphrase, a typical argument would go along the lines of "you don't love me because you never do this", to which I would feel compelled to rebuttle with "well actually I do that all the time and here are my examples". That then morphs into "well you always do this other thing as well so clearly you don't love me" and so it continues on a neverending path of justification that is completely ignorant of any facts or truth whatsoever. And if I simply said "I do love you" then I'd get the rationale of something like "well you don't show it, you always do this" and on and on it goes, deeper into the rabbit hole. JP totally nails it in this one, but he's still fighting a losing cause. She'll never agree. Only his viewers and followers will ever agree.

I can’t agree with the reasoning here and it’s a bit strange for me that the interviewer didn’t catch Peterson on an obvious logical mistake he makes here. IT MATTERS in which groups men are a majority because if these groups happen to be the ones with the most influence on how our societies, countries, law, institutions, etc. work then they will shape them according to their own worldview. Individual politicians or CEOs of global corporations have more influence on the system than individual soldiers, miners, firefighters, etc. Therefore claiming Peterson completely destroyed anything here seems a little bit silly.

@v.m.46035 жыл бұрын
The fact that most men deffine feminism as an attack and interpret that word wrong is an empirical evidence that men feel attacked by women and as a deffence mechanism use degradation and twisting of the phenomenon. Who does not see the everdaylife of women being perceived as having less potentional for bussiness and as a result the once that do succeed are always looked with twice more success rate because 'it is such a miracle' (source of double stadards) is blind. Political equallity does not mean economic equallity, and just because there are more man dying in war doesnt even fit in the frame of the discussion, they die because womens job was perceived as being medicine instead and not for exampel snipperists, if they were treated equally woman would get the chance to go to war aswell (nowdays they are but the stereotype still exists preventing them to apply) and die the same rate as men. So he mistakes the preposition of someone applying somewhere because of social constructs, with a theory based on empirical facts that more man died in war, well duhh its because more men were participating in war , also most examples he pushed out were premade facts thrown out without explanation, "most people in prison are men" well because they commit more crime not because women are treated more nicely, and why do they commit more crime? Not because they are evil but becaue society teaches them that being a man means not being affraid of anything, the cool guy is the rough guy. What I am saying the sad discourse rulling over our society damages peoples perceptions of what they really like, who they are and what they have a potential for, puts them into boxes and they go where they do not belong. Discrimination is among both genders, but due to the history men were priviledged, because being stronger built (and they are), but with the raise of technology we overcame that difference and now there is no reason to discriminate based on that, but rather on the long rotting left pieces of history and the discourse its building.

I do really agree with what Jordan said, but i have to say that the "male dominance" isn't about the majority of women and mens well being and the average man and womans struggles, but rather in my opinion, even though its sounds counter intuitive, actually look at the top 0.01% procent of the world. What i mean by that is that the absolutely richest and most powerfull people in the world, have a lot of control and grip over the western world. In that sense, the argument can be made, that since the majority, if not all, of these few billionaires that have a enourmous amount of power are men, it can therefore be seen as though the society is "male dominanted". But, again, i do agree that the average man, does not have more power or dominance than women.

Let's fact-check Peterson's arguments and try to interpret his opinions. 1. He begins by retorting that the unequal distribution of wealth is only prevalent in the top 1 percent. He is right; the gap is drastic in the top one percent but it is also significant for the rest of the percentile. In general, men own 68-72 percent of the wealth when they comprise half of the population. Even this number is a substantial improvement. It was worse a few decades ago. In this the interviewer was correct but was completely "dominated " by Peterson. www.economist.com/graphic-detail/2018/03/08/womens-wealth-is-rising 2. He carries on in his eloquent style arguing that men suffer equally if not more. He claims that most of the people in prisons are men. According to his argument that if there are more men in prison then they can't be the dominating one. I don't the see the connection. Is he trying to insinuate if it was a male dominant society then more women would be in prison? He further states that most of the people on streets are men and most number of victims of violent crimes are men. The interviewer should have asked that why is that there are more men everywhere? I mean why aren't women going out ? In my opinion, traditionally, women have been discouraged from getting out of the house especially at night. Although the numbers have improved but it is far less than men. Therefore if lesser number of women are outside their houses then of course they have lesser chances of being victims of violent crimes. However, the interviewer should have brought up the issue of domestic violence whose victims are entirely women. His point that most number of people on streets are men is convincing but later on in the video he claims that if men are dominating, it is because of competence. If they are more competent then why are they out on the streets in large numbers and do so poorly in schools. Poverty is a complex phenomenon that cannot be divided solely based on gender. His point that men commit suicide at higher rate than women is both true and false. More men do die of suicide but more women try to commit suicide. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8205283 He points out that more men die in wars. I guess if do not allow women to participate in war then how can they die in them? 3. He dismisses the interviewer's point that rape victims are predominantly women as being inappropriate for her argument; which is that it is male dominated society. I don't see how that point was inappropriate. He just says that asymmetries are present everywhere hence her point is invalid. 4. Then he claims that the "western society" has a patriarchal circle to some degree but that is not based on power rather it is based on competence. He further states that it is because of this competence that our society functions. I don't know how one measures competence but if we see education as a barometer of competence then women graduate college at higher percentage than men. www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2017/11/gender-education-gap/546677/ 5. He is absolutely correct when he states that the western society is the least tyrannical society. I agree with him that women elsewhere suffer far far more than women in the west. 6. He concludes by warning that the "patriarchy thing" is pernicious and dangerous. He claims that men and women throughout history have united against the greatest catastrophes from a high death rate to extreme starvation. He argues that it would be detrimental if we just teach history as men dominating women. I would argue that interpreting history through feminism is one of the perspectives and not the only one. It gives us a more complete picture of our past. I think there is enough evidence from our past to prove that we have had a patriarchal for centuries. From voting rights to birth control, the list is enormous. I will conclude by stating that Jordan Peterson is a brilliant orator. He seems to be the messiah that people who are fed up the feminist movement were searching for. Two sides have been created and both of them are just looking for opportunities to embarrass the other side. The tittle of the videos and the comments are examples. The facts have become subjective and the truth is getting lost amid the chaos.

Thank you so much for such a sane response. Something that came across as clear was that the interviewer was (in essence) reading from an idealogical script that was exposed as weak in the face of factual reasoning. Using the example of male on female rape (a truly wicked and abhorrent act ) was a perfect example of this and was (to use an analogy) clutching at straws to save the haystack of her general argument falling down. The intelligence of your own observation demonstrates the awareness that we live in a desperately unhealthy and confused time where slogans hostile rhetoric are casually thrown around in preference to open listening and thoughtful consideration of opposite view points. Disagreement with the prevailing ideology’s has been labelled as hate speech and forbidden. One doesn’t have to go back far in history to see that adopting this social framework is a precursor to disaster. Again. I found your reasoned response a breath of fresh air. Thank you.
