He didn't say this to urge everyone to get involved. He said it so he could have an out when nothing changes under his leadership. "See, I told you things wouldn't change right away, despite my earlier promises that they would."

Exactly - I call him an "ANGER MERCHANT" ... and have been doing so for 2+years. Short on solutions and long on anger. On thing I consistently read is people complaining about Trudeau and then list a myriad of complaints that are all PROVINCIAL responsibilities ... and not appreciating that most PROVINCIAL governments are CONSERVATIVE!!! It is embarrassing that so many Canadians are so ill informed ... shocking - and they invariably have the biggest mouths.
@FitChickGlows
@FitChickGlows 38 минут бұрын
@@trentriver Yes, I worked with people like this at one point (a lot were new Canadians) and I couldn’t understand that they were complaining about things that were clearly provincially Progressive Conservative created but they were demonizing the Federal Liberal government for and PM Trudeau. I was mystified. Then another colleague (we had both worked in a more professional environment prior to this) explained to me that they have NO IDEA how our government works and were never schooled on this and the difference between federal and provincial jurisdiction. And that they don’t understand that their grievances are NOT federal created BUT a provincial jurisdiction. I could not believe the utter ignorance and lack of education on this. And that’s what will mess our elections, misinformation and lack of knowledge. ALL parties should seriously have Public Service Awareness Campaigns on this. But I’m sure the PC government loves that they don’t understand this and capitalize on it. … When I explained this to one of my newbie Canadian colleagues she was astounded. And she finally stopped complaining wnd demonizing PM Trudeau now realizing it’s actually our very own Ontario PC government led by Doug Ford that caused a lot of her anger and complaints. I had to explain it to her like a baby learning the alphabet and phonics. If we don’t help them to understand the basics of our government and the main parties we will have what I feel is a very dangerous man in power over Canada ALL from lack of knowledge. This is a VERY serious issue. VERY serious.

There is this bottom up pressure that's happening in the City of Pickering, Ontario. The problem is that it takes the form of one councilor, namely Lisa Robinson, using what can only be described as stochastic terrorism to cause her supporters to make threats against other councilors and the mayor. It's so serious that they have moved council meetings online rather than risk an incident in council chambers.

The problem Ed is what he means, shift responsibility so he can blame those people at the bottom instead of actually taking any responsibility so that he can continue those negative attacks and continue to use anger as a motivator. As far as his plan goes I would guess that he's going to go to the same plan that Elon keeps talking about, crashing the economy building it back up the same thing as Meilei has done in Argentina. Well let's look at how that worked out. Add on edit One added bonus, the rich will buy the assets of the country. Like the city of Chicago did with their parking meters.

I love your insights and biblical wisdom. Feeling less alone after listening to you. Thank you, Rev. Trevors! We're riding a regressive wave of extreme right-wing ideology. In my experience, this never works for the majority of citizens. I hesitate to call these ideals conservative because they are not conserving anything but tearing it down. I agree that people of integrity need to stay engaged, refuse to stoke hatred and rage and follow the Wisdom of Jesus. Let's change the world! ♥♥♥

It reminds me of our history classes and how we ended up with hitler. But then, people were so much worse off than we are now. We have to cut back on trips to Macdonalds, and we think we are in poverty... oh, that is an exaggeration, I know. But I see the junk we are buying just for holidays of any kinds, and i know most of us are not in actual starvation type poverty. Some, yes. But in N. America and much of Europe, probably not. Yet, we think we are and get scared, just like back then. Instead of being patient and logical, yup, we want an easy out "savior," and that leads us into big trouble as we sell our soul for what? Turns out to just give more money to crooks. It's too late for the USA, but i hope not totally. I pray others in other countries will see this folly and turn around. Only God in His mercy can help us now. I am praying. I never stop.

Even before pressure, we need to understand whether what "we" want is even possible. People complain about prices being too high; people complain about wages being too low; people complain about jobs being outsourced. Nobody points out that all these things are connected. Amazon can deliver your trinkets the next day for "23% off" _because_ they've depressed wages, cut domestic jobs, and source their goods from overseas workers. It doesn't matter how much pressure we put on whatever level of government; we don't get lower prices _and_ more and better-paying jobs _and_ all of our consumerist creature comforts. It just doesn't work.

@@PhoneRanger-ij4wcsmall scale? To some extent yes. Live smaller, more gently, more mindfully. Try to consider the effects of what you do consume, and accept that it’s not always possible to get it perfect. On a larger scale is where the pressure comes in: there’s enough for everyone to get what they need if we push to change to a system that’s based on caring for each other rather than one that lionizes rapacious want. Want less stuff. Want more mutual support and care. Talk to those around you about why it matters, and work together to build a world that works for the health and happiness of all. Sounds oddly familiar…

@drmathochist06 There is a tricky balance. If I produce more grain and want to sell it, I should be able to benefit from mass production and, in turn, I would need to be competitive in some way to sell it, or it will spoil. I want people to buy my stuff, so it either needs to be cheaper or better. That should be good for the consumer, right? Provided the sector is not monopolized...

As one of the resident visiting atheists once again I land on the same square as Rev Ed. Here in the UK there is an entire branch of politics built around food banks. The simple question is how, in a 21st century first world country, can there be people so short of money that they struggle to afford food. The question is simple but the answer is complex. Failure of housing policy. Issues over wealth distribution. Arguments with other countries who supply us with energy. Take your pick. But one thought nags at me. Some comment that the government should sort this out. Years ago to focus on the point I suggested to a political opposite that every time they said "the government should..." they should end the sentence "with my money". Because that is actually the only mechanism the government has. It has not been a popular response over the years but I still use it because I want to remind people where the conjoined twins of power and responsibility actually lie and that leads to the nagging thought. It seems to me that some people hate the idea of food banks because it puts the problem right in front of them. It forces them to confront their own role in the process. I am mortified that the need for food banks exists but it reflects current reality. And what horrifies me is the idea that finding a solution is not our responsibility. We want the government to solve the problem so we don't have to think about it. "They", whoever "they" are should do something about it. There is no "they". There is only us.

Yes, change doesn’t trickle down. History shows that. It also shows what happens when we are too willing to let someone else worry about steering the ship because we don’t want the responsibility. Too many US voters were quick to listen to the promises of à would be captain. We should have paid attention to the record of his behavior instead of listening to his campaign talk. We are in a ship with a captain and crew drunk on personal power. I hope Canadians don’t follow our example.

I wish that more Canadians voted like we have more than two parties and that we should vote for the best local representative not just party and definitely NOT because of leader personalities...because we do have more than two parties and voting for your local representative is how Canadian politics is supposed to work. Meanwhile, we did that in our area and the guy got punished by Harper for standing up for his constitutes so he crossed the floor and got treated almost as bad by Trudeau during that deeply troubling anti-religious attestation debacle. Our system really needs fixing. Nice world on the upside down kingdom, though only through the power of Christ, through the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

One thing I've learned from being politically aware since the '80s is that change only ever happens from the bottom up. It's only once an idea is popular enough with the masses that The politicians will begin to care about it. Those at the top, right, left, and center, don't really want change because they're at the top. But to paraphrase AOC in one of her livestreams leading up the the election, their job is to win elections. So, theY have to do what the majority of people who are likely to vote for them want them to do ... if the can.

Thank you, thank you. I have avoided the news lately. I feel like i can't survive trump's inane ugly ways again! But of course, i will as long as God gives breath and wants me here. I am trying to remember all of His encouraging words. They are not just trite sayings or magic spells, but the Breath of my life, if i don't let fear swallow me. I do know that, yet... here comes a panic attack tonight over the News... so much heartache everywhere and trump sounding like Putin... we are going to take this land and that land; let bad guys go free and take over; and jail the good guys! Oh, Lord, hear our prayers... and those who soon, too late, realize their poor choice. Lord, we are such children... take pity and save us from ourselves. Laugh up Your sleeve at these braggarts as you mention in Psalm 2, and grant You sheep peace and pity, still waters, and astound these unique boisterous persons who think they will take over. You are God, not they! Please protect us and guide us through this mindless, heartless time coming up. Give us confidence in You and not killer fear. Help us to learn and grow in Your Grace and Mercy and to know how You would want us to move ahead in love, not anger and fear. Let us not forget our Prime Directive of spreading the Good News. Let us do it wisely, honorably, and in Your Spirit. Let us not focus on the noise, but the commission You gave us. Grant our hearts peace no matter what . For Your Glory, oh LORD, amen

What no way !! Not the common sense, guru !! Not ax the tax build the home bring it home guy. Question what stopped the former housing minister from building affordable housing? Build affordable rentals !!! Who or what was stopping him, then the things he preaches about now !!!!! As for getting involved lol really that's why they have made politics an exclusive club only those who can afford it ! Have a post secondary education! And belong to the club of the chosen few !!

Pastor, where is the Lord in your ministry? As believers, should we not be sharing the gospel of the saving grace of the Lord? I see the cross behind you and that you represent as a teacher of the word. Pastor, where is the word in your message. Jesus did not get into the world's politics. In fact, he made it clear he is not of this world. His kingdom is above and his message to us is to not be of the world but to put our sights on the kingdom of God. This world is dying and we are offered the free gift of eternal life through the grace of a merciful God. God bless.

@therobertreview8382 give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what is God's. Jesus was not about Caesar's business but about God's

Excuse me. Go talk to the evangelicals. They tell you WHO you have to vote for if you are a Christian, and it's ALWAYS conservative/Republican. They spend MILLIONS to put them in office. You are barking up the wrong tree and padding yourself with religious words.

@@jameshartley7644 Bible scholarship reveals that was a sarcastic quote Jesus made about rendering to Caesar. Maybe you know that taxation was an unknown concept to Israelites until the Romans came around. Don't you discriminate between context and actual history or like most Fundies, that doesn't matter to you? If you are that guy, thanks for giving us Trump.

This transfer our our wealth as a society has gone to the top ever since reagan and his tax cuts and deregulation the very rules businesses have to follow to protect the people from these greedy multi millionaires and billionaires. A tax cut equals more debt for the people and a free ride for the top. pp want's us to hand it all over to private interests
