This is why I became fascinated with Jordan Peterson in the first place. I think KZbin threw him my way for whatever reason 6 months or a year before he blew up and appeared on all the talk shows and became a household name. I loved his lecture material, such an engaging and relatable speaker. I loved to hear him lecture in his field of expertise. I think in his interviews he's often dragged onto subjects outside that field, and although he'll offer a thoughtful and interesting answer, it's not the same.

Thanks for honoring free speech. If the emotion we feel is anger ... for everyone's sake ... we had better learn to control it. Many school shootings ... and many spousal killings occurred and are still occurring because of that extremely difficult to control emotion. Leaders of countries go to war because of the anger felt when egos are "insulted." One example was when President Bush Junior (with a very flushed face) mocked Iraq's Saddam Hussein by responding ... "BRING IT ON!" “If Anger Helps You Feel in Control, No Wonder You Can't Control Your Anger!” … author … Leon F. Seltzer Ph.D. Raymond W. Novaco coined the phrase Anger Management. "We all experience anger; anger only becomes a serious concern when an individual is angry too frequently, too intensely, and for too long." ~ Raymond W. Novaco, 1984

Fully agree. In the same way, people run from darkness because they consider it bad or wrong and they MUST be in the LIGHT! Well, you won't really know the Light until you know and are aware of the Darkness, as well. Also, some orthodox religious teachings and some Spiritual teachings tell us that some emotions are wrong, sinful, weak, defective, imperfect, bad. Therefore we should not feel them or express them. Squash them down. Pray them away. Conquer them! Fight them to death. Punish them. ( and yourself). Ignore them. Dismiss them. Ask God to take them away! You can't possibly be a good person if you feel them. No wonder then, since we're attempting to live impossible realities and promised lands we'll never reach....we " struggle" with our human selves, see them as defective and imperfect to be " saved". Constantly feel we're not " good enough" or " worthy" enough and don't really heal. As long as this is how we treat our emotional selves we won't....

@@apparently_sonam sorry to hear you are going through this i try to see it as an opportunity to build knowledge about human mind and for self development, from my understanding of psychology which may be imperfect, but if you are familiar with star wars franchise? there is a familar reasoning from Yoda "fear leads to dark side" therefore i think not all but many NPDs are based on traumas and adaptations to those events i believe those are called vulnerable types?, and adaptation to society as malignant as it may be sometimes, so i trust there are many layers and nuances of narcissistic traits not being present in all of NPD people, also i think that people should talk about unconcious narcissistic traits as well and denial of those , we could call it NPD shadow based on Jungs teachings. Because to be honest i even in my own head recognize some traits of vulnerability based arrogance and thinking i m above those below me in some hierarchies. So its interesting to observe these traits in others and in myself and figure out what the hell is really going on and based on that try to integrate this shadow and replace it with something more pure. i m working on it and i can see improvements already i m aware of these thought patterns and practicing seeing all people as equal while still trying to excell as much as i can in all ways that matter to my own goals.

There's no clear description. That means no clear definition of what an emotion is. Is it a feeling ???? A sensation ???? A stream of thoughts ???? Who knows ??? Psychologists and others who casually bandy about fancy words and other technical terms often assume everyone is on the same page. Not so. And it's kind of obvious it's difficult to ignore such "emotions." After a clear description of what it is . . . the next step would be how to deal with it. Personally i would like to tell mind doctors to . . . PYSS OFF. Except JP of course. He's kinda easy to make fun of. haha . . . lobsters and all that room cleaning.

@@olaikintel I didn't say the definitions disagree " Drastically." But these experts claim to be " scientists. " That means there should be no disagreement whatsoever about basic truth. And i did give several examples of how " emotions " are described. Fact is psychology and psychiatry have failed miserably to cure depression. One reason is they can't even agree on what it is. And the experts have most of us snowed. Because we are too easy on them. With few exceptions they're glorified fakers, modern witch doctors.
