I love how you describe it... "I am not good at making milk, but its ok because its great at other things." I love this mentality. I feel like people put so much unnecessary pressure on breastfeeding & it can spiral into an unhealthy head space.

Yes! I am a firm believer in Brest feeding but with my second baby he just wasn’t growing I was HEART BROKEN when they told me he HAD to be put on formula people don’t understand how hard it is the whole “Brest feeding is the best thing y out can do for your baby” while yes that’s true sometimes that’s not an option in order to have a growing healthy baby

I’m so glad Jordan shared her milk struggles. I don’t breast feed because I struggle to make milk on top of being super stressed and uncomfortable with it! Its so nice to hear someone say, “Do what you gotta do!”
@lsansing17835 жыл бұрын
If women's bodies failed to make milk as much as society says they do we would have long since ceased to exist as a human race. Simply put the biggest problem with moms and breastmilk is that it is supply and demand. Jordan is so busy she doesn't slow down enough in the beginning to nurse often enough to get a good supply going. I have seen the schedule videos she did when she had very small babies. Sometimes newborns eat every hour during a growth spurt. If you are willing to feed that often (or pump often enough to make enough milk) then sure, you will need formula.

@Bec Hermon they don't ask on a college application if you were breast fed or not is what a nurse told me when I was trying to breast feed.

That was my thought as well, I command her for not succumbing to stereotypes and unnecessary mom shaming. Her body knows how to carry a baby and get it to a healthy point, doesn't matter if it does not turn into a milk factory, no one cares, and that is a healthy mindset to have. In my culture, we don't put so much emphasis on breastfeeding, my mom used to stop as soon as we would start biting lol

So my kids are now ages 13, 5 and 1. The first year with 2 boys was tough. My middle son is extremely high energy. Very busy. Goes non stop. I work full time and am on call 24/7. We have no family in the area so if their daycare is closed they go to work with me. Or I sometimes can adjust my schedule to work from home. Twin mom here: I nursed mine with back to back feedings. Tandem was a great idea, but burping babies part of the way through was very challenging, especially when they were tiny with no head support and falling asleep during feedings. I had one who would spit up terribly. It was just easier to do them one after the other. When one woke up for feeding during the night, I would wake the other right after so everyone could be fed and go back down to sleep.

Creative Minds Homeschool This is exactly my advice as well. I have b/g twins and 4 others. I tried tandem nursing at first but they are so floppy! And yes, waking up the second baby to eat is my number one advice for twin mommas. It goes against your nature to wake a sleeping baby, though!

You're doing great! Twins are so fun and you just do everything twice, (diapers, feeding etc) which is easier than it sounds--it's like doing it once but it just takes a little longer. I would nurse one (of my fraternal twins) while giving a bottle to the other and then switch. I didn't like nursing them at the same time...I wanted that "special time" with each one. Your babies will be so entertained watching the other kids and it keeps them happy which is such a huge help! One thing I do remember...when I was "home alone", having a safe place to put the twins in (like a playpen or whatever they have now) was a lifesaver for me if I had to run out of the room for any reason or in case my 3 1/2 year old needed me in the other room. I knew the babies were safe and they are comforted by having each other anyway. We're so excited for you! Sending so much love!

I've been a multiples nanny for years. My biggest piece of advice is take all of the help! Hire help, beg for help, accept the help lol I'm sure you know that but it's always worth saying. Also, if you can get your twins on the same schedule and keep them there (usually a professional nanny, dula, or sleep specialist can help after the first couple months of survival) is going to go so far! This will help you to get more done because you wont be constantly bouncing from twin to twin for sleeping and eating schedules. And just enjoy yourself, try to find time to love yourself and love those sweet babies! They're only that size for so long and it's truly magical ❤

Hi Jordan! As a mom of triplets my advice to you in this moment of "calm before the storm" is to familiarize yourself with what to expect in the NICU. With luck your babies will spend very little time there, or maybe even none at all. But statistically, they are likely to be there for at least a few days. The NICU can be scary and overwhelming for parents. Lots of alarms, beeps, and buzzing, tiny babies hooked to giant machines, etc. It's all good, and the very best place for your littles to be if they need to be there, but still scary (especially when you have all those pregnancy hormones raging around inside you!). There are several good books out there, so you might want to just browse through one of them to see what might be in store. It's all gonna be fine in the end, just keep your chin up! God bless you and your family! :)

Me too - Our first daughter was born at 23 6/7 weeks into the pregnancy and died - she would have been 18 this year (2020), then miscarriage after miscarriage, then lost another at 10 weeks, then spent 93 days in the hospital to get our now 12 year old daughter to the world. Breastfeeding - dang I was a milk cow. 16 oz off each breast when I had to pump for my daughters when they were in the hospitals.

You are going to do wonderful!!!!! I have twin 11 yr olds and I think the best advice given to me was to train them both to be on the same feeding schedule as soon as you can after birth, otherwise it’s nuts especially at night because you’ll feel like you’re feeding them around the clock. I can’t wait to see your precious babies!!

I became a first time mom with my twin boys. They are now 9 years old and I’m loving every minute of it. They were premies, they stayed in the NICU for about a month. It was a bitter sweet situation, I hated having to go home without them, but while I was there, the nurses taught me to care for them and how to keep them in a 30 minutes feeding gaps. I never had them crying at the same time, I stuck with the 30minute gap schedule and took my time feeding them individually and enjoyed them one at a time. You’ll do great, your already an awesome mom and great schedule keeper , enjoy your babies ☺️☺️

Sorry long comment! 🙈 Im sure you know this already but be prepared that you may need to stay in hospital for a while! (Which makes things sooo hard with other kids and spouse!!!) My first born was prem at 33 weeks and we were seriously not expecting it. I literally went to the hospital with my notes and that's it!!! (Didnt take a wallet or anything!) He was in hospital for 3 weeks which I spent pretty much all my time there except for the few nights I was basically sent home because they didnt have space for me and I just left REALLY late and got back up there REALLY early. (Leaving them is HARD!) But he was my only child so could spend all my time there. Second child was born with a congenital heart defect which required open heart surgery when she was born (luckily this was detected during pregnancy so we came prepared!). She was also in for 3 weeks (had the surgery at 13 days old) and it was soooo much harder as I couldnt just stay at the hospital all the time because i had another child to spend time with!! So although we stayed in accommodation by the hospital splitting time between babies bedside/and the other child (or in your case children) is not only tough on you and the kids (seriously mum guilt gets real!!) But I found me and husband hardly saw each other because we were constantly tag teaming, one at the bedside, while the other spent time with our son and then we'd swap. It was tough. Not saying this to scare you and I hope you can go as full term as possible and come home with gorgeous healthy babies straight away 🤞but if they are likely to be prem, then I'd definitely make a plan that would involve a hospital stay! And how to divide your time between babies, older kids and husband! And if if that does happen just remember it feels like forever at the time but it's actually such a short time in the long run! Good luck guys, wishing you all the best and cant wait to see the little cuties when you're ready too! ❤💙

I also had preemies with my second pregnancy. I was in the hospital july 22 with them due to arrive in October. Surprise I went into labour In August. At 29 weeks. Terrible delivery lost kne at 5 days old then had to be away from home for an additional 2 months until my baby was strong enough to go home. I had a three year old at home that didn't see me for most of 3 months as I was 7 hours away from home for 2 months, then two hours away from home for 1 month. But it wicked hard but you do what you need to do. Hope your children are healthy now.

Thanks for the reminder that no one is a super human. I am a mom of three girls ages 8,3 1/2, and 5 months. I work 4 days outside of my home, and opposite shifts from my husband so we don’t have to pay for child care. I am struggling daily, but this was a good reminder that mom’ing is hard, and it’s perfectly fine that I don’t always have it all together. Congrats! I love your channel!

My take away message from this was when you spoke about being an anti perfectionist! That resonated with me, I’m a mom of 4; I also work from home full time, I homeschool, and I recently started college. It is DANG hard. I got B’s in my classes, and you know what? That’s OK! I’m mommin’, working, schooling, & my people eat! Thanks Jordan! ❤️

The Freeze Dry Queen Wow, You are an incredible mom! That’s an overload. I was homeschooled in a family of five, but my mom was done college and we were her full time job. Im a mom of almost 10 year old twins. My major advice is when one wakes up to eat in the middle of the night wake the other if they are sleeping...it was amazing to get them synched on the same schedule and leads to more duration of sleep at one time for you.

For breastfeeding, my Mom says breastfeed at the same time. The double football hold and then just relax. Then you aren't nursing 24/7. I can totally relate with breastfeeding. You can only do what you can do. 💖

Momma of twin now 13 year old boys. My advice to any new momma is to take your time to find your new normal. What I learned from having twins is to let go. Accept help, even ask for it. And sometimes you can look into the future but sometimes all you can do is look to the next breathe. Oh and if you have 2 crying babies, fix the first one completely before getting the second one, otherwise the first will start back up again. The second one will be okay. I learned to tandem breastfeed very quickly, which helped

Twin mama here, you so have the energy for this!! One thing that helped me a lot in the last few months of twin pregnancy was the Brewer Twin Diet- it helps keep them in as long as possible. My first (Singleton) was a 33 weeker and my twins were born at 38 weeks. The Valco Tri-Mode Twin Stroller was a life saver stroller for 3 littles. One thing that helped a lot was having a night nanny once a week. She would come at 9 pm, wash and fold kids laundry, feed the twins during the night and my husband and I would sleep for 8 blissful hours..or as long as I could without nursing anyway. I'm sure you've read this but when one is hungry, wake up and feed the other one, it will help you in the long run. Enjoy every minute and take lots of pictures, because you won't remember the first year. If there weren't pictures to document that first year I couldn't even tell you whose house we went to for Christmas. ;-)

Another fun fact that I learnt when I was pregnant with my fraternal boy/girl twins is that twins only run through the female line. For example my dad or my grandfather couldn't make me release 2 eggs because they obviously don't release eggs

Hey Jordan I'm so blessed to be watching your videos now. Since my hubby and I were courting, we established that we both wanted boy girl twins. We have been praying to the Lord for them, and God heard us over these 6 years of prayer. We are now 8weeks pregnant with twins. We are so excited. I'm learning alot from the way you do life with the kids and with your hubby. Pregnancy is a gift from God for sure. And I love that you mention this. My twins are 3 months old (how did that happen!?) and I have 2 others (2 years old and almost 4). What works for me is having them on a routine. I do tandem nurse, but I produce ridiculous insane amounts of milk, so supplementing is unnecessary for us. The best advice I can give is definitely ask for and accept help especially in those first 6 weeks! I had a scheduled csection (identical boys with a shared placenta) so I couldn’t lift my older kids during that time, and having help around was crucial

I am currently 36 weeks pregnant with my second! It's been so fun to watch your journey at the same time! Definitely want to see a hospital bag and a newborn essentials video. If I had to pick an absolute must, it would be somewhere secure and off the ground to set down the babies near the kitchen and/or living room area. Also, as I'm sure you know, freezer meals are amazing! I even made 3lbs of cookie dough divided up into balls in the freezer for an easy treat after my second is born. Hopefully, I won't eat them all in the first week!

I have 3 with the same age gap you're going to have. It felt like having triplets! It saved my sanity doing everything at the same time because even though they were boy/girl twins at 2 in the morning I still confused them, lol! Anything that doubled as an extra place to put a kiddo safely was magical. You'll find how you feel most comfortable feeding your babies I had the same problem with my milk and never mastered tandom feeding but my trick for bottles was sitting loosely crisscross and having one baby eating in the crook of my leg and the other in the crook of the opposite arm. Looked crazy but it worked and I didn't feel like I was missing out on the feeding snuggles. Mine liked two different bottles so it helped to try a couple different ones until we found the right fit. We kept it as simple as possible with twins but did eventually invest in a second baby swing and #noregrets. 😂 We let them sleep together until they got old enough that they wanted their own space. They seemed to do better that way for us when swaddled up and snuggled next to each other. (Now that they're toddlers my boys share a room because the twins are terrible influences on one another, lol!) I'm no pro but I survived with a ton of nighttime help from my husband and keeping everyone at a similar schedule I managed to stay sane. Asking for help and having conversations with people not about kids is something I should have done more of. Oh also prepare to explain how twins work and how you conceived them to everyone and their dog. They will never stop asking, lol. You will rise and rock this because you have to and they need you 🙂 All the good vibes for your adventure!
