I have been a member of the American Psychiatric Association since 1986. I am a “Fellow” because of my longevity. However it is undeniable that they have lost their way and are failing my patients and all peoples. Because of that, my association with them after 38 years expires today, 3/31/24. I refuse to be part of their cataclysmic failure to guide the science of psychiatry/Neuropsychiatry in a healthy/logical and humble way as has been done in the past. In my opinion, they have abandoned the Hippocratic oath and betrayed the very people we have sworn to care for. In the past out patients included narcissists and psychopaths among the masses. Now the Association is lead by them.

As a mother of 6 the line Jorden said that really hit me was “ the good mother fails”. One of the biggest challenges of a parent and even more of a mother is not following the world in all its ridiculous glory. I never wanted to be my children’s best friend. That can be left until they are grown adults and I’m done raising them! My responsibility is to do the world a favor and produce, highly functioning, moral, balanced humans that contribute to the world to make it better:). It’s a huge responsibility, if you get it right, it’s one of the greatest things you will ever do. At 41 I have my first Grandchild and I can say…….. it’s worth it❤️.

As a professor, I testified at my state legislature regarding adolescent identity development and cognition. The bill banned under age puberty blockers and underage transgender surgeries. We need to share cognitive development education to everyone as it is not being discussed with this issue. Testifying was at a high risk of losing my job. Every other professor and physician testified against the bill because it is the popular “nice” thing to do. I was attacked by angry parents and teens after the meeting. The bill eventually passed in our state and now the true “nice” thing is happening: young people are being spared this permanent butchering and parents are being spared from having to make that choice. Parents are being spared from their children growing up and being upset at parents for letting them transition when parents should have known better. Thank you for courageously talking about this!

@@margaretsorohan I’m in Sweden. Here abortion is voluntary, no questions asked until week 18+0 days. After that you apply for a permission in front of a committee and (now I can’t remember exactly, but I think it’s week 21) then it’s allowed only if the mother’s life is at stake. And I think that makes sense. I never had an abortion, but I had a missed miscarriage where my baby died at 14 weeks and had to have a D&C so that I wouldn’t die of infection - the procedure is exactly the same as abortion and it’s even referred to as abortion as my pregnancy continued despite the fetus being dead.

I spent three or four months, after the birth of my 2nd sibling, running around with a blanket claiming I was Little Kid Jimmy. I'm female. I grew out of it. I also spent nearly one year running around as a horse. I ran around on all fours, jumped over the couch, whinnied and neighed. My mother had to tell me stand up and act like a human being in front of the neighbor. Thank god my mother had common sense and said "it's a phase, she'll grow out of it." Indeed, I did! I identify with your younger self, 100% I was very much a tom boy, galloped around (usually as a bipedal), and pretending to be a horse. Hated wearing dresses - to the point that I snuck a pair of pants to school on picture day and promptly put them on under my dress! Thank you Micheal for you courage. My son is has ASD and started addressing this issue when he was 11. He'd been abused by a cousin during adolescence who introduced him to trans porno. Unfortunately his mother and I divorced in 2016 and they moved to a neighboring state while I stayed back to sale the house. While that occurred his mother took him to a psychologist that "affirmed" his gender confusion and recommended him to an Endocronologist that started him on puberty blockers. It was 18 months before I found out BY ACCIDENT that this was occouring. My heart aches so because of what his life will be now that he cannot have children and has developed such a VICTIM mentality of entitlement towards the government. These people SHOULD be put behind bars.

However, I couldn’t help but reflect on the idea that while one’s work and influence might anchor them in the fringes, it doesn’t necessarily dictate where their heart or soul must reside. If in your journey, you find a resonating truth within the Catholic faith, I encourage you to explore it. The physical and intellectual work can continue in the fringes, but allowing your heart and soul to dwell within the “Ark of the Covenant” could offer a profound balance and fulfillment. Labour are going to get in at the next election and they have committed to legislation that would criminalise doctors NOT providing gender affirming care. I am still amazed at how many people are complicit and behind this stuff. It’s not only very dark, but it’s immense child abuse. Between this and our educational system our children do not stand a chance. It’s quite baffling. I am a classicist (one who studies the past) I read a lot. When I look around I cannot help but feel that we have gone too far. I don’t see how we can turn this around. If this many people can be persuaded…over such irrationality, I don’t know how to proceed. These kids are not fully developed yet. One healthy has an imagination. I see a big problem in Teens "educating" each other on how to get hormones, where to order illegally online (once it'll be not as easy to get a description anymore) etc.. It's so important to spotlight this huge scandal, everyone needs to know about it.

We cannot let our teens have free rein online or with friends. I think there is a way for parents to supervise without being domineering. We don’t have to control every step they take, but we do have to be PRESENT with them. Don’t panic, but be sober-minded and steadfast. Love them with a tender heart, let them talk your ear off, and make sure the other adults who influence them have good intentions. Bad things can still befall them, of course, we can’t live in a bubble. But we you must not lose hope! Be encouraged and take heart!

I agree with both of you. On a macro level, I like the observations that b Maher makes sometimes, did recently, about how the last few decades the parents let the kids start running everything in the household, they are the boss now. Why are parents letting their kids walk all over them and get whatever they want. I was the last of 6 born in '74, strict father. Then I saw my sister born in '67 have kids in '89 & '91, and everything was about the kids getting everything they wanted and bossing mom around, it was ridiculous

Wow, that was so intense. A great conversation, and moved me to tears at one point, when reflecting on the risks of bringing children into the world, and the real sacrifice that is. (I have four children, aged 17 to 28, and I've seen the world chew them up and spit them out). It's so overwhelming and stimulating to look in on two people pushing the limits of communication and insight! I really love stuff like this.

I think it will them around, but not before enough of those who have transitioned are faced with life-threatening side effects and / or chronic pain and/or coming to the realization that they can't have a normal sex life, which includes the potential for reproduction. In the meantime, we're stuck with a bunch of psychopaths and sociopaths.

Or maybe they will just have to live with the consequences, no doubt the mothers of the thalidomide babies had to live with the guilt of listening to a doctor who prescribed them a morning sickness tablets, even though it was not their fault. If these parents thought they were doing the right thing to save their child from suicide and listened to the doctors maybe they can come to see that it was wrong.

My traumatized grandchild is a victim of this. There was no real questioning, therapy or counselling just agreement by the medical profession. The government did not contest the provision of a new birth certificate either. We are in Australia 😢
