Hey Jar, a bit of clarification (but by no means an endorsement) of the all beef diet. This diet is an extreme version of the carnivore diet, in which someone eats only meat/animal foods, which is already a more extreme version of a ketogenic diet - one in which your body uses dietary fat as a fuel source instead of carbs. Keto has been around as long as people have, as your body is specifically designed to be able to survive even in the absence of carbs so you don’t die even when fruits/vegetables aren’t growing. It’s been a popular weight loss diet for years because it can help people control their appetite and guide them towards more Whole Foods (also because many will experience immediate weight loss, which the article wrongly attributed to eating less, due to your body storing less water). Carnivore diets, which exclude things like avacados, nuts, etc. are more of a “fad”, but the all beef diet is a real thing used to treat extreme autoimmune issues. By eliminating everything but red meat, people following this diet are actually trying to heal their gut and figure out what is causing them issues, with the ultimate goal of slowing adding foods back. Beef is chosen because it is considered one of the only non inflammatory foods, and because of its extreme nutrient density. If you chose chicken for example, you would probably die from nutrient deficiency, if the lack of dietary fat didn’t kill you first. Contrary to what you might think, a lack of fiber actually gives most people explosive diarrhea within a few weeks of starting the diet, but eventually your gut adapts. Good this cleared things up, not saying it’s a good idea or anything, but it is a real thing and not complete nonsense.

I was thinking about the music for babies thing the other day as I’ve developed a love for Ambient Post Rock music such as Hammock and Sigur Ros. Even tho I have no intention of having kids, if there was an alternative timeline to which I had kids, I would definitely play this sort of music. The worse I would play would probably be Nu metal music like Korn and Slipknot because it may make the kid a little angsty or edgy!

Peterson got the treatment in Russia because no medical institution would ethically allow what he paid for. He's telling everyone to power through it yet he doesn't have the balls to. An induced coma is obviously dangerous, and benzo withdrawal can cause brain damage and seizures and if you're asleep you obviously can't treat them when there are no symptoms. He literally fried his brain instead of going through the pain (which tbf is extremely terrible). Jordan Peterson falls into this category of people I feel bad for more than hate. It very easy to hate Crowder, Shapiro, and Fuentes because they are unapologetic grifters with a shit agenda. Peterson seems like he means well and is very well spoken and has some pretty decent advice on mental health shit. It really seems as if he has a problem though. I feel similarly about Kanye. It boils down to "crazy but talented and/or valuable in some way" for me essentially. I know it's super easy to hate on prominent figures like Peterson and Kanye, but a large part of me feels sad about the current state of their lives and I feel this need to react with pity if anything. How do the Yogs feel about this? Would you lads like to see people like Ye and Jordan get some genuine help? Pussy and diarrhea bear bear or something.

Ye is the biggest evidence for "mental illness is a reason, not an excuse"; it's sad that he clearly needs help but everyone is just endlessly hyping him up. We know why he behaves the way he does, but he or someone he knows should be responsible enough to remove his access to social media so he can't spread insane-o shit to his millions of adoring fans (as a Jew, this was what I dreaded most about the most recent episode). While a lot of Peterson's political stuff has stricken me as willful ignorance, I can't help but pity the guy. Something is clearly seriously wrong. It's difficult to watch him speak.

The thing with Peterson isn't that he could have gotten the treatment in Canada but chose to go to Russia. He could have gotten safe treatment where he was weaned off the painkillers in Canada, but decided that wasn't manly enough and going cold turkey was the only way. The Canadian doctors told him that was stupid and dangerous so he went to Russia where they didn't care and were willing to put him in a medically induced coma until he got past the withdrawal state. All the issues he's had since are because he's an idiot who thinks he has all the answers and only his way is correct. Quite frankly, he got what he deserved.

I think Jordan’s big issue is that he’s genuinely so deeply paranoid and afraid. The man sees demons everywhere, constantly. Anything that lies outside his little bubble of safe, normal things is a threat to the world as he knows it. His current state is the logical terminus of those issues going unaddressed and untreated. He’s like an old dog with bad eyesight that has a barking fit at any little sound because it can’t properly comprehend and address the world around it, and thus fearfully strikes out against any potential threat, no matter how absurdly insignificant. I’d feel bad for him if he weren’t actively contributing to the oppression of marginalized people.

i dont see him that way at all, My girlfriend introduced me to him a few years back and I feel like he has very good views on most things, Especially when he ties into his academic career and experiences. This is coming from a third world country immigrant, a lot of his takes on Marxism, and Communism are spot on and his call outs on a lot of culture issues are insanely accurate too. I would not call him afraid at all, on the other hand he always ends with something positive, if you ever have the pleasure of going to one of his talks, do so.
