5:44 it's these transitions on vinyl that show someone has a good understanding of rhythm and music the synth plays on the left track and the kick only on the right, there is no beat going on yet Joris can easily recognize the track desyncing just by the synth transients. Show me the modern day controller dudes pulling these off. Technology is great but it shouldn't replace fundamental learning. You can also see Joris always beatmatches in phrase, I see so many vinyl sets where people ignore phrasing alltogether and as someone who listens to electronic music for decades, I cannot understand how people don't learn these basics anymore.

See. The complexity of making magic music in the early days made the music tend to feel minimal. But at the same time the minimal feel was huge on dance floor as it allows the dancer to move and travel between the beets and sounds . With all the new easy to use software and people layering more and more into a track has killed some of the magic of getting close and dancing in the beats....
@kristianburghard19554 жыл бұрын
I get what you say, but if the 'music from easy to use software with much layers' doesn't make you dance, I promise you there's still so much new music out there you can still dance to. Even tracks made with the easy to use software :)
@CineTechGeek4 жыл бұрын
@@kristianburghard1955 as a very long time listener to dance focused music over the years. And being a DJ for about 12 year until my ears have out.. I do agree more busy tracks can also be good. More busy tracks also lasted back then but not as much due to it being more difficult to make. But really the classic timeless tracks tend to be the more minimal ones. Today it's to easy and so too easy to go to far. And considering more of this music is made them ever, I find it harder and harder listening to new releases to find tracks of quality. It's becoming all a MacDonald's factory. However there are tracks now that the complexity is amazing and only possible with these new tools. Masterpieces of creation but not always super popular.
@kristianburghard19554 жыл бұрын
@@CineTechGeek yeah being able to transfer a certain feeling or message through minimalistic music is definitely an art on its own. Though I think it's not necessarily about how it's made, be it the easy way or the hard way (whatever that may mean), quality of the music comes from the artists, not his gear. There's absolutely more generic music nowadays because the entry level is lower than what it used to be I think

@@kayhodson98 Yes, the mixing is smooth in terms of transitions but to his point you can hear when the beatmatching is slightly out, which is expected with turntable DJing and no computer assistance. That's the appeal of vinyl mixing, seeing real human manual correction and adjustment.
