@@mrsmegz I think Greyhawk was a safe option. Eberron's appeal is that it is different, but if you want to run a standard fantasy campaign, Eberron might be too different.

I'm a huge Eberron fan, and Rising from the Last War played a huge part in getting me into Keith's stuff. I figure they did some stuff he might not have, but was there anything major? I'm not sure I'll be buying the 2024 stuff, but I will be buying Keith's newest book.
@thatwascold3 ай бұрын
@Nemo12417 Honestly, a lot of Rising from the Last War was just taking previous editions' content and converting the mechanics to 5e. I don't remember a ton of new lore appearing in it. I don't peesume to speak for Keith, but I know some people think the artificer in 5e vs. when it first appeared in 3e is pretty different, mechanically. Not sure if he'd have tuned it differently.

This sounds really cool, but I have to call shenanigans on the idea that Gargoyles don't need to sleep. I'm a child of the 90s, and as we all know Gargoyles are "Stone by day. Warriors by night."

I like how focused it seems. The 2019 book was good as an introduction but I found during running my campaign that I'd be interested in a part of the world and then have to dig around 3e material to find enough gamable information to actually run it.
@bifflechips-t5r3 ай бұрын
Once I finish my current campaign, I'm spending some time to focus on short campaigns, both 5e and other systems, as a way of trying other settings or genres (ie Spelljammer, Planescape. Grimhollow) that I wouldn't have the time to run a proper full length campaign for, but I picked this up to see about pitching this as the short campaign for Eberron, which I didn't know much about. I'm excited about everything I've taken in about Eberron though, and it seems very cool.

This sounds really cool. I actually had a player play a warg in a 3.5 game. We advanced her level with hit dice. She had a lot of fun playing as a talking wolf. The other player in the game was a goblin rogue. The entire campaign was going through published adventures where they made friends with all the goblins and recruited them to live in their keep away from all the monsters that wanted to exploit them as soldiers.

This is so tempting. I'm a huge fan of Eberron, and I love that it's basically the Old West (I just finished playing RDR2...) but I'm not familiar with 2024 or 5e. Might be worth considering since my area would get into D&D over a non-D&D game, and Eberron has been my favorite setting. The way that Medusa is handled as a race is super cool, I was wondering how the heck that would be balanced when I first read it was a thing, but the "lesser gaze" thing is great.

This book did Dragonmarks more or less how I would have. I just have one complaint in that regard: instead of inventing the pointless Orien Step cantrip, the Mark of Passage should just add 5 to your movement speed.
@dylanwallace71983 ай бұрын
I hard disagree, I'm a fan of orien step and find it more useful than that extra square of movement, alot of these options felt like a love letter to my house orien wandslinger that was dubbed the prince of passage

I like the no Death saves but not the autostabilize. As a DM I rarely kill people but I like to put them in encounters where they feel like they will. It gets heated and people start yelling but they survive and are extra happy! This rule is very threatening and I like that. It probably won't happen but only the DM knows that meaning the party will be a bit more careful and fight a little harder. I also fee like we need a 3e AD&D for more technical rules and hard-core mechanics. I really miss some of the 2e AD&D stuff and I know that it is basically Pathfinder but I want it in Realm. You know? Edit: Commerce Domain is legit
