That song "El Triste" was one of the most difficult songs to sing. I saw that performance on TV; I was 14 years old. He never sung that song like that again in his career. He became a superstar and for me personally, the best voice ever from Mexico. He had hit after hit after hit. Life, corrupt managers, drugs and alcohol took a toll on his career and voice. It got to a point where he could not sing again. But that one evening in 1970, that festival launched him to superstardom.

Camilo Sesto was amazing as a singer and songwriter! He wrote a song especially for Jose Jose called "Si Me Dejas Ahora," but which Sesto also recorded. Both versions are beautiful, but Jose Jose's is my favorite.

Some people believed he had four lungs instead of two! Btw, that beautiful woman they show while he sang, is Angélica María, "La Novia de México" ( Mexico's Girlfriend ), Alberto Vázquez, great singer also with his eternal cigarette in his mouth, and the late Marco Antonio Muñiz "El Lujo de México" ( The Luxury of Mexico), very famous and talented and also a legend himself, staring in disbelief with an open mouth... My all-time favorite crooner, Jose Jose! He was such a magnificent and gracious performer. His father was an opera singer and his mother a classically trained pianist. Sinatra was a great fan. He had so many hits, even a cross-over hit in the USA called 'La Nave Del Olvido'. Other unforgettable songs by him: 'Almohada' and 'Amar y Querer.' I was just gonna ask who the heck was 2nd and 1st place but seems no one knows 🤣. I love seeing how international talents like you react to and appreciate our prince of song as he was called.
