Did I say that everything's fine? Is 23 shots and only 5 on target the definition of everything's fine? My point is, you can't fault Mourinho. A manager should devise a sound plan and keep the morale high, and that's what he did. His tactics were working but his players didn't deliver, and yet he protected his players when the media was trying to provoke him to throw them under the bus. And when he didn't, they insulted him. Now, these "pundits" are calling for his sacking when he is doing his job properly. The problem of the club is bigger than most people realize. United needs a sporting director asap. Woodward has all of the power, and he is more concerned with profits off-field. He doesn't care about winning, the board only cares about the money generated by the United brand.

exactly. anybody who knows anything about european football is that mourinho is one of the best if not the best tactically sound manager. I think the players just dont have the quality to compete day in day out against some of the other clubs, or they just lack the motivation....the end of the conference is mourinho trying to draw attention to himself instead of how awful his players played, because at the end of the day, the manager cant jump on the field and play defense.

United saw what Mourinho did to Chelsea in his last season, they saw his 3rd season meltdown, they knew about his style and nature then why did they signed him? They signed him for instant success. And he has delivered instant success. He won UEL, took the team to 2nd spot in 2 years. That is a big and instant success considering how GOOD ManU were under Moyes and LVG. Then the board didnt backed him enough in the window, players themselves dont give good enough performances. So its not all Mourinho's fault. Everyone in that club is to be blamed. Ed Woodward has played a part in this, players like Pogba has played a part in this. It feels very bad to see a club that big as United, a manger as great as Mourinho, players as good as Pogba Alexis struggle and do bad.

Thetruth99 Inter's squad was quite old as well anaida stark City almost signed Jorginho but because of Sarri he joined Chelsea otherwise he was happy coming to City. They missed out on Mahrez but then finally signed him. Alexis chose money tbh, United offered him a hell lot of salary which i dont think he deserved otherwise he was also close on joining City. Only player on who they really missed out is Kovacic. Still they signed a lot of players and paid quite a big sum for them.

Thetruth99 Jose and Pep are the 2 most successful mangers right now. Both are cheque book managers. Both wants the best players and both signs the best players. And its not like you can sign 11 big and good players, put them in the playing 11 and then they will themselves play well and deliver success. Its on manager to bring the best out of them and set them up in way with a certain style that they start achieving success. Mourinho has done that very well.

the real problem though is that they have no attacking plan whatsoever and that's on Mourinho. Their biggest chance of the first half came from a back pass from Danny Rose. If you look at the likes of Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool they are miles ahead of United when it comes to actually having a plan of attack. Mourinho just hopes his attacking players will do enough.

Seems to me the most toxic presence at the club is the media claiming he's the wrong manager for the club when he's got them a 5th and 2nd place league finish , finished last season AHEAD of Liverpool Tottenham Chelsea and arsenal . These analysts are useless! Nicol said the players are not playing for the manager...I'm sorry but we must been watching different games. That's the first time since SAF that I've seen such attacking football from united. Missed chances, and defensive mistakes, certainly not the JMs fault. We needed to buy an experienced defender probably even two because as much as i like Bailly and Lindelof, they're not 1st choice center backs right now. I also have no idea why Smalling and Rojo are still at the club. For me, the blame is laid squarely at the feet of Woodward...he needs to stick to the commercial side.

No one is denying what Mourinho has achieved as a manager. He is without doubt one of the success stories of the EPL, La Ligue and Serie A, having cut his teeth in Portugal. However, he has never stayed at a club longer than 3 years. He always leaves clubs under a cloud. He lost the players at Chelsea, and he looks like he's heading the same way at Utd. He is sulky, petulent, and acts like a spoilt child in so many press conferences. People pick up on him because they love to see a rival manager throwing his toys out the pram. The media love scandal and he plays right into their hands. The panel here are just pointing out the obvious. Jose bought most of the Utd team yet is complaining because he can't spend more money and must work with the below-par CB's he already bought. Having a manager that goes into press conferences as if the world is against him, using that as an excuse to deflect from the deficiencies of his team i.e. folding after one of the most attacking first halves I have seen from them in a long time, and then bleating about what he has won instead of placating his own club fans, is not a positive way forward. It smacks of the beginning of the end regardless of the couple of trophies and a 2nd place finish. Personally, I hope he stays. There are precious few personalities among the managers in the EPL so he would be a loss.

I think why Mourinho is not getting sacked is because of the money that will be involved in it and also because there is no big or good manager available right now. Zidane is available but then people say he hasnt proved himself and also United are in a sensitive position so they need a right guy and cant take a risk. Also Zizou might join Juve and take some position in the board. Only guy i can remember who is free right now is Laurent Blanc, but then is he the right guy? Managers like Jardim and Pochettino are the candidates but they are not available right now. So it looks like Mourinho will remain MU manager at least till the end of this season. But again who should United bring in as their new manager?

Tremaine Grant Stop it. He tried this BS at Real as well. If he’s not winning games, his teams are dreadful to watch. The Bernabéu only tolerated his style because he won games but if you look at his most successful season at Real, his team were the highest scorers this won the league. I see no applauding. Liverpool up until now was never expected to make a title run. Expectations are now that people expect them to challenge. Same with Spurs. The difference is that Man United have significantly higher expectations: They are expected to win this season BECAUSE they were second last season and normal people wish for progression and the only way to go higher would be to actually win.
