Hi, could you recommend an amp that can be used for small gigs and practice as well. Something without too many effects, like the Katana has - although it is tempting. Say the Blackstar Debut 50R? Any tips would be welcome, thanks.

I have one, and yes it is. Takes a bit of work to get a serious metal tone, but I’ve figured it out. You can also run a pedal through the clean channel as well.

You really need a 12" speaker at minimum for metal. Same for good cleans. It's just how it goes.

@ not necessarily. I just turn the volume on the X down, on my guitar up and it works fine.

I guess the high cut on the variation mode is for if you have a guitar that's too bright like a single coil bridge pickup etc? That or if you want that really mellow smooth tone for like jazz guitar.

There are rumours that it's back and in stock, so it'd be worth checking your preferred store again.

I heard from a random post on reddit (so it may be total BS) that they had some issue with one or some of the components being difficult or impossible to get. If that's true, hopefully they can redesign it or find a new way to get the parts. Otherwise I guess this Mini X is the next best thing. It's pretty much the same price but with a speaker and still works with headphones. Less portable though and no support for the boss tone studio or mobile app, unfortunately.
