I have heard the doctrine of election many times but it still doesn't make sense. If the elected are equipped to live holy lives then it is vice versa for the non elect. How can they be responsible for anything they do then? This is so wrong

Dr. Baucham, I became a Christian very early in my life. For many years I walked/talked to God but when I became a teenager, I started NOT listening to God and blatantly disobeying Him. My question is about strongholds on my life. I have recently put aside my life and let Jesus have control again. Does that mean I wasn't really saved at 6? I had a relationship w/God. I feel like I couldn't have if I wasn't saved. And, part of me thinks that, "Oh, if I get saved all those strongholds will be forgiven and forgotten YET, I feel I was saved and though my sins/strongholds that I let take control of me, ARE forgiven but I am still responsible for then. IS this possible?

I meant to put that I'm almost 62. And I just feel like re-accepting Jesus as my savior would be an easy way out of my strongholds.
