NICE! Thank U very much Boyeee. Been watching awhile. I’m down, fx back during rescue, 40 yrs EMS. The escape this provides is amazing with the humor & joy you, & Tripper, let us in. Going thru all of them. The episode training Tripper for the canoe I’ve enjoyed many times. I’m Be safe on this crazy rock we’re riding. “Doc”, MICParamedic/Nat’l Crisis Intervention for 1st Responders from 9/11/2001 thru Sandy Hook, my last official duty. Wow - that is literally EXACTLY what you should do with that Plumb axe. Perfect resto, perfect handle, custom leather -- them boys done you PROUD, son! ;-) I love me a vintage Plumbs. They made loads of different types. I have one that's this exact shape and weight that has the Boy Scouts of America logo on it -- was their official Scout axe back in the day. Also got the official WW2 GI hatchet with the OD green handle and a GI belt sheath with "US" on it. Collectors item. I guess the Medics carried them and made litters with them out of saplings for carrying the wounded. Anything Plumb pre-1960's(?) is exxxxcellent steel -- the older the better. I think I heard the quality degraded in the final years of production (60's-70's(?) -- they're long out of business now), but those older ones are amazing -- I have several. A classic American axe from the golden age of virgin US steel. The Plumb boy's axe is another ideal size and weight (1.75) for a forest axe like this. Keep your eyes peeled at flea markets and garage sales -- they're still out there...

I would love to have a Beaver Craft handle on my new vintage Shapleigh Diamond Edge boy's axe head. I've never tried to make a handle myself. I can do some leather work and wood burning though. That's a very nice axe though. Can't go wrong with those old forged axe heads. I know he's a handful , but you have an awesome dog. He'll calm down in a couple of years.....maybe. 😂

Absolutely my favorite vintage head. Mine is similarly ground/honed but on a 24" handle. He got that convex spot on. You can tell by the smooth cut and easy release it's laser sharp, perfectly shaped and polished smooth. Super well done. That's a sweetheart and a wonderful gift.
