@@josephallen19 Joe, how do you avoid wolves and bears? Aren't you scared?
@mediocrates19374 жыл бұрын
@@SpeedBird001 Bears are hibernating (or sleeping in the case of black bears) at this time of year, though some leave the den occasionally to forage or rummage about. But anyway the dangers of bears and wolves are way overblown. Obviously attacks happen, but pack bear spray if you aren't out hunting with a gun and you'll be all right. Statistically speaking, you should be much more concerned about having a heart attack, stroke, injury, etc. while that far away from civilization than about any bear or wolf attacks. However if you're nervous you can store your food 3-400 yards/meters away from where you sleep, and not urinate close to your camp (not really important outside of bear country). Ultimately, the fact of the matter is bears have the best sense of smell of just about any mammal there is, so odds are the bear already knows you're in the area and if they want to come check you out to see if you're good eatin' they're going to do it anyway. Remember though, *you never run from a bear,* you slowly back away at an angle, and if they begin to follow you or chase you hold your ground while facing them and yell as loud as you can at them...

Leaving water bottles or jugs in one's vehicle overnight (or longer) in winter is tricky. Even a tough Nalgene bottle can crack when the water freezes and expands...and if it warms up again while you're gone, you get a wet mess in your vehicle. I work around this problem by carrying fairly flexible water bottles (which can tolerate some expansion) fill them only partially and store the bottles in a plastic bucket, so that if a bottle splits and leaks, the spill is contained.
