I'm old fashioned and was hoping for an old classic wooden Unicorn or similar but I know these days are now sadly long gone ........... however, renowned Unicorn Builder and multiple UK Nationals Champion, Gary Piper, has just completed a brand new wooden Unicorn and carried out trials in the middle of Winter! .... Yes, unfortunately not so many catamarans to look at at the show there are a handful of mono hull classes represented. I think for real boats, the Alexandra Palace show in London has to be the best.

I had a hobie tandem island. I used it for a couple of months and sold it. I hated it. The steering mechanism was very flimsy, I expected the lines to break at any moment. Sailing in higher wind was not very good as it would tend to bury the leeward ama (outrigger) causing massive drag. Using it as a kayak was bad as it is relatively heavy. "Jack of all trades: master of none" would be my summary. By contrast, the topper topaz 14 is great at sailing.

There's probably a reason why most catamarans look similar (to the topaz 14) Mixed reviews here for the Tandem Island.......

Thanks for your feedback. I was trying to keep the camera close enough to keep the audio clear without too much of my face taking up the whole picture - clearly a fail here. It was my first time editing on the phone so I couldn't use a separate microphone.

The Hobie Tandem Island is the single greatest watercraft ever developed. People have used these for full-out expeditions of hundreds and even thousands of miles.

We recently bought the Harken Zircon 12:1 set of blocks for cats. They are amazing, but you have to rinse them in water -- fully, in a bucket -- every time. We run them 10:1. Every bit as good as they look. And while pricey, they are cheaper than the prior generation of the same.

Yes start out in an Optimist then go to Wildwind and sail a Laser and joyride a Hobie! You said trimaran ☺️ but didnt spot 3 hulls .
