I find it extremely confusing with the new revelation unheard from 60 years of independence that NRIC card and NRIC no serve different purpose - former for authentication, latter as identifier. Such nuanced demarcation is unacceptable explanation. Should the GOV say the same for passports then and do away completely with physical NRIC and passports? Some organizations that Josephine Teo alluded to include agencies like SPF for "authenticating" purpose as a "legacy" practice. Back to first principles, what is the primary purpose of these official documents - to IDENTIFY AND AUTHENTICATE, no? Any revamp comes with Whole of GOV legacy housekeeping and alignment first and adequate communication of rationale to public. Execution is extremely poor, no denial.

In the nric system, the year of birth is identical to the front 2 nric number. With the year of birth known, many things can be manipulated.

Mrs Josephine. I appreciate your apology but thats not what i need. I just need the govt to be on the side of the majority views and be the voice for us since we voted PAP to be govt. So far so good govt has listen to the public outcry and u turn good no. of policies such as ezlink card, Income Allianze and for the time being unmasking incident. You need executives who are sensitive to the ground instead of making unpopular policies from ivory tower.
