Thank you so much for this series! I genuinely wouldn't have gotten into modding without it, as the Creation Kit feels like I'm deciphering an Ancient Sumerian script on how to build a ziggurat. I've already created a vanilla-adjacent follower with this series help. But I plan to go through the whole stage of having custom voice, use custom assets like hair, and some quests! I've began writing for it and have a friend lined up to voice him. When it goes up, or even if I just upload the vanilla-esque follower, I'll definitely have to credit you and bring people here. Great tutorial. Very easy to follow and understand! Just wanted to share somethings since I ran into and solved two issues. I created an argonian female follower. 1. Her face still had the dark face bug, despite ctrl + F4 face texture export. I tried to a few times with ctrl + F4 and even tried to edit within CK and nothing was working. I realized I used racemenu plugin in game to help colour her skin to custom colours. So I loaded that mod up, did the ctrl + F4 with these plugins in place and the textures populated successfully. 2. Despite following this tutorial, she never had the followers dialogue. I was confused until looking at another tutorial. If you want to use the vanilla ai follower dialogue, you will need to set up the proper voice. I originally set hers to argonian female, not realising that voice package had no follower dialogue associated with it. To see a list of vanilla dialogue got to misc > form list and search for followers. Pick one of the items and double click on it. It will come up with the voice names of those that contain the vanilla follower dialogue. ...so now my argonian sounds like Lydia XD I know we will eventually use our own custom dialogue at the end of this series but I though it would be useful to those who are starting out and wanting to test with a vanilla follower dialogue before switching over to custom. Especially with J'cuzzi already having his vanilla own follower dialogue.

I'm using LE even though I have AE because for some reason the bethesta launcher will not link to my steam account. First off--thank you for these awesome guides! They definitely helped me understand the CK a bit better when creating my own follower. I do have a question, though, because I've run into a bit of a pickle. My follower refuses to wear any clothes at all, whether I give her a default outfit to start out with or add clothes to her inventory. She will not equip them at all and is running about the Winking Skeever in her birthday suit. I keep trying to tell her that this is not that kind of establishment, but she refuses to listen and it's making everyone uncomfortable. Please send help! If it helps, I am using CBBE for her body.

I love this part of the guide, I've followed this and part 0 though I can't seem to get the textures in the Creation Kit preview to show up (it's just glossy purple-ish blobs everywhere including my follower, with the exception of her face) and when I try to put her in Winterhold and Whiterun's Inn she doesn't spawn, just curious if you have a tip for fixing the textures thing, I can try to fix the spawning issue on my own, but I'm really struggling with the textures (Thank you in advance if you answer)

Followed your instructions up to when I activate the mod. I added it to an existing game with a few hundred other mods…. But it broke my game. When trying to load the save file, it’s telling me that I am missing a whole bunch of ESM’s…. I got stuck at the import part. My character wouldn't import in properly. By that I mean that the hair style, hair color, and a couple other things were wrong when it imports them. In creating the character, I am using mods like RaceMenu, High Poly Head, and ApachiiHair, to make the character exactly as I envision them. But when it imports into the CK it doesn't seem to use any of those assets.

That's expected behaviour, yes. If you want to use third party assets, you'll have to set them as a master dependency for your mod. It's not an area of my personal expertise, but I believe Pandorable has some good tutorials available on KZbin you could look up!

Thanks for the neat tutorial. Unfortunately I was having problems with using a custom race, as it wouldn't let me use use the hair I wanted. (Set to Default and wouldn't let me switch to Anything) Incase anyone has a similar problem, the way to fix it is by clicking *edit* then *find text* and then search for *'HeadPartsAllRacesMinusBeastVampires'* in [ Objects, etc ] and double click it. From there simply open the *Object Window* click *Race* and drag the custom race into the list of accepted races. (For me i had to add it to *'HeadPartsHumansandVampires'* , but try that second.)
