I saw him taking advice from George Fostman, a retired boxer with amazing handfighting skills. They called him the Mummy because of he would stick out his arm and march forward like a mummy.

Hong Kong comic books that feature Triad gangs streetfighting really inspire me to train the grab/trap-punch techniques daily, both for fun, to look cool and to increase my creativity in the sport. And this video gives me impression that somehow I have chosen the right approach to the game. Many thanks for that, Joe !

That part at 5:10-5:50. Watch Glory 13, where Joe fights Nieky Holzken. The man is speaking from the experience of having been the fighter who was blasting shots and then got caught. Note that I'm not talking shit because I wouldn't even last half of a round with Holzken. It's just a perfect example of what he's talking about. That said, it's pretty cool that so much "it doesn't work" stuff that got ridiculed for the last decade-plus is now being taught as not only effective but some of the safest ways to not get hurt. For a real-world example, a drunk old man wanted to fight me one night. He threw a left and I caught it by the wrist with my right hand, then pinned it against his right hip. He threw a right and I repeated the process. Turned his hands so his palms were facing his body to remove the majority of his strength, cinched his arms up to his ribs, let him put himself off-balance, and then I gave him a little push that sent him tumbling and allowed me to walk away. He didn't hit me and I didn't have to hit him. Though, I could've done any number of things from this position. A sweep, release my right hand to throw some elbows, maybe work an arm bar or kimura, knees, head-butt, just release and start blasting shots, etc.. All of those would work in a sporting context, as well.

I'm interested in your view on bare knuckles.The safest way not to break your hands. Thanks Joe
@albert04953 жыл бұрын
I am afraid the best way is not fighting bare knuckles, maybe some people have crazy thick hands and will be fine but most people will hurt them every time.

is handfighting still the most effective defense if you are fighting a taller opponent?
@grave79483 жыл бұрын
I'm almost always the taller of my sparring partners. From my own experience, good hand fighting can definitely frustrate and work effectively on tall fighters, especially fighters like myself that want to keep people at the end of my punches/kicks.
@buckets36283 жыл бұрын
Yes (from some random person online)
@Kobalamin883 жыл бұрын
It works for both, if I use it on shorter people, it frustuates them, if they use it, their liver is exposed. I use kicks on their thighs etc when ever they try it.
