I preordered the Beast broadhead in March and received them a couple weeks ago. Haven't taken them out of the package yet. I got them to shoot out of a Ravin R10. hopefully they work well this fall .

Yea sevr here also out my Ravin r29x no problems I got the 1.5 and 1.75 and 2.0 I am going pick up few new 1.5 with bleeder blades I use different heads for different animals I ne for hogs one for coyotes another for Doe and of course one for deer but all the sevr heads have done well for me no issues period I like the beast blades and tip but I hate the aluminum ferrule so may try pack on hog or doe maybe there high to 35 a head and they claim you can reuse the head but I don’t like do that unless I can replace the blades at least it’s not like a fixed head where you can sharpen it up go again

FWIW to any viewers, I had exceptional experiences with SEVR 1.5/1.75 broadheads last year at close and long range. Also picked up some of the Beasts out of curiosity - will shoot both, and expect them to both be fantastic, tunable options.

You need to check your state laws for broad heads, I'm in Georgia and pretty much anything is allowed, but I hunt NY every year and any broad head that creates a barb is a no go. This is from the DNR site :Barbed Broadheads Prohibited for Big Game Barbed broadheads are illegal for hunting big game. A barbed broadhead is one in which the angle formed between the trailing or rear edge of any blade and the shaft is less than 90 degrees. A notch at the base of the blade extending no more than 2 millimeters from the shaft shall not be considered a barb. Broadhead examples on the right compare one that is barbed to three that are legal. Broadheads with retractable blades are legal. Broadheads with mechanical blades are legal if the blades DO NOT form a barb or hook when the arrow is pulled from the flesh of a deer or bear. great video!

I’m just thinking the beast may need like 70# DW to get max penetration? Or use like 50+ grain brass insert added for a 60# bow? My young friend uses the 1.5 Sevr and has had excellent results even on larger,180#+, pigs. At 70#’s with 50 grain brass. Personally, I’ve never used anything but fixed in over 50 years. No failure to deploy is my thoughts on that. Anyway, I get field point accuracy with Magnus black hornets w/ bleeders to 60 yards which is my maximum test distance. Can’t imagine paying the $ for those heads- nothing special IMO.

I 100% agree. These large cutting mechs are for bowhunters that are crap shooters that aim at and/or hit the liver and guts in my opinion. And for bowhunters believing in all the nonsense hype from the so called pro hunters. The large cutting mechs also tend to change direction after the hit or even deflect away from the animal on quartering shots. This looks like a very similar design to Rage broadheads in the way they open and they are terrible when it comes to this. And the penetration with this broadhead will most likely be terrible with the setups most people hunt with as well. I am 100% sure that many will lose their animals to coyotes, birds and maggots using this broadhead. People should learn to tune their setup well or get someone else that knows what he/she is doing to do it for them and use a good quality fixed broadhead instead. Magnus broadheads with or without bleeders is a good option. Top quality broadheads for a good price. And there are other good ones as well.

i bought them and used them. yes they do work as they should but for the price they arent worth it at all. you cant change the blades and you cant take the head apart to resharpen the blades. so to me the broadheads are a fail unless you like spending $55 for ever other time you shoot an animal

A huge wound channel creates faster blood loss which is the whole idea. Get the critters on the ground fast. Now I know animals can move and Theresa marginal hit where the larger cut would probably be very advantageous. Also with my usually smaller fixed heads I’ve lost a couple deer over the years ( thinking I hit leg bone or the spine part of the scapula) but was this because the wound channel wasn’t 1 1/2” or larger? Doubtful? I really believe it’s about shot placement. Hitting the kill zone which for me is a maximum of a 5” diameter spot in and around the “ golden triangle “. Long ago the fixed heads were 7/16” to 1” wide and that was all there was. I killed many critters with the BearRazor in 80’s . Anyway, I hope this Beast head works 100% for those that use them. And I’m waiting for video on damage to a nice pig.👍👀👀👀👀

A 2" mechanical like the Beast broadhead has no more total cut than a tiny 1" 4-blade Slick Trick Standard (1" + 1" = 2" total cut). Blade angles for most 2-blade mechanicals are horrible. If I was going to shoot a mechanical, it would be a 3 or 4-blade (Grim Reaper or Swat). The Beast broadhead looks hard to sharpen, blades don't look replaceable, & they are extremely expensive.

get a good cut on contact head puts those things to shame and as long as you dont loose them they last forevere and the better ones have a life time warranty. cut on contact heads never fail to deploy. lots of folks use these mechs cause they dont care to or cant tune a bow...
@TheNewBowunter5 ай бұрын

I really believe a lot of people use these streamlined? mechanical heads because the bow isn’t tuned right. Or it’s tuned or accidentally working with a particular field point arrow they are using and these mechanical heads hit close. Of course there are those that can take 50-60 yard shots and hit a deer etc and these heads are small and fly well. There are also lazy people that won’t take the time to get everything fine tuned together.

@@TheNewBowunter A tiny 1" Slick Trick Standard 4-blade has the same total cut (1" + 1") as a 2" 2-blade mechanical broadhead. Just look at how far those blades must hang out there (creating a terrible blade angle for penetration) to equal a 4-blade fixed broadhead. Don't let a one-dimensional 2-blade cut fool you.
