Im approaching 53 and have been training crossfit for 6 years now. 5-6 days a week. Its changed my life! Most of the people i train with are in their 20s and 30s. I remain very competitive and rx about 95% of the workouts. Training is the highlight of my days, and also keeps me mentally grounded. Keep up the great work Josh! You've always been my favorite crossfit athlete.

I had a friend of 59 (I was 42) tell me training and gym was a young man’s game. I told him straight, actually it’s older people who need it more than anyone

Facts 💯 most people are just brainwashed from lifting. Of course there’s limits like weight intensity, etc. Something is better than nothing.

Yip 55 years young. Just signed up to a competition. Pairs comp. The Latin word for compete means ' to strive together'. I compete to grow and to help others grow with me. In all fairness though I may be towards the bottom of the pack. Maybe not, training is going well. Regardless I'm in there pushing my limits. 💪😎👍

Hey brother, thanks for all inspiration and motivation that you provide here. I am 45 and currently preparing for shoulder surgery. Any tips on how to workout post surgery and build strength? Would love to see some content on this. Thanks again 💪🏽

Hit 43 this year. Had always been “in shape” but with this last job I things began to slip. Took a much different approach this year: don’t go all out at first, listen to the body, and trust the training process of the coaches at my gym and finally I’ve seen better results, and down almost 30lbs from this time last year. Age only gets to you if you let it!

Love the LFG program! I had a weeks vacation and felt a bit of discomfort in my knee. So my 70% squat today was more like a 40% squat. Did the workout, felt good, got a sweat on. All I need at 39! :)

Is funny, i've been working out 30+ yrs now, i'm 43 and still going strong. I'm beat and broken but not going to stop till i'm dead. But people around me at work always say you're not 20 anymore why do you do this or that. Why do you do martial arts, you think your 15 again?? So annoying, I just laugh at them and move on. I'm 2-3x stronger than them and faster and can fight, they can barely walk down a sidewalk... I've told some what am I supposed to roll over and die due to my disablities etc.. F off with that crap. It's also a great thing to do as you get older, like as you said, it helps with daily life and helps to keep you from getting injured, from you bones getting weak and breaking etc..

If you only had room for one conditioning piece of equipment which would you choose? Row machine, assault bike, etc?
@stryguy3 ай бұрын
I own an air runner, echo bike, ski erg and rower and while I do honestly love them all and use each of them quite often, the first one I bought was the rower and if I had to do it all over again, I would do it the same. If you can only have one due to either space or cost, I think the rower is the best bang for your buck being that I'd argue it's the most full-body workout, the most commonly programmed machine and that it's also the easiest to move around/stand-up/put away when not in use. Hope this helps!
@619.DRIVER3 ай бұрын
I’m also in need of choosing. I think I’m going with the echo bike just for simplicity. Rowers take a little skill and proper form so you don’t get injured. A bike is simple-push hard with legs and arms.

61 years old here. I still do workouts like Bootcamp, CrossFit and a new training plan called MAD. I go 4-5 days a week based on how I feel. I love having strong legs and a solid core. I’m not a body builder so I don’t strive for size in my arms and chest. Some comes with working out but that’s just a benefit of doing the work. The workouts I do are intense and I love it. Do my knees get sore? Yes. My back? Yes. But sore is ok in my book. Pain is not and I stay away from movements that have caused me pain. So super heavy benching, overhead squats or front squats are something I don’t do. Why? I had a bad motorcycle accident in June of 2023 and broke my C2 vertebrae. I’m lucky to be here and if not for being fit and strong I could have been injured worse. My team at the trauma center and the time spent with the follow ups with the neuroscience team here at UK said it was a miracle I can move much less be problem free. I have some odd pain here and there and my hands are not as rock steady as before but I’m ok with that. So when the workouts get tough and I’m sucking for air or trying to find some mental power to push though a tough cardio workout I think about having a cervical collar on for three months and not knowing if I would heal as well as I wished. I’m back to my pre accident shape and stamina. Was it hard? Hell yes! It was scary as well but being a fitness fan since my 30’s I understood what was good for me. To me….there are very few excuses to not be fit and healthy.

I’m just 60. Always trained, I take on 20 plus year olds of reasonable fitness. I just need to be intelligent about recovery.

FCKIN EH BRO; MUCH RESPECT, FR. EASTCOAST CANADA 53 YR OLD HERE, I did (heavy-"for me") squats today. After not lifting any weights for 8 years, I recently (2 months ago) decided I really needed to/wanted to ; make some serious changes in my life. AND : Get my health in order, and not just, get back in shape and fit; but also ; I really decided I wanted to start lifting again for 2 reasons= one , was for my overall health, longevity, knowing that thec studies show/prove, that the more muscle you carry/hold, the older yoyu get, tyhe better chances you will not get sick, diseases and live longer. the second reason, was, I felt bored/restless, and remembered how passionate I once was , because strength training, heavy lifting, body building, getting constantly bigger and stronger, use to really give me such a high; I wanted that feeling again= of having a purpouse, something meaningful, chasing a goal= not to mention, the overall , feel good, healthy, strong, more confident, energetic, I HAD HONESTLY FORGOTTEN= THAT AS A MAN, I REALLY MISSED / AND NEEDED THIS FEELING, AND FCK IT IS FEELIN AWESOME= I hadnt trainied in 8 years, and Today was 2 months back ; and I SQUATTED Three plates, = 315 x1 ( It was my 1rep-max / A clean, 90degree/parallel, legit squatt) To push myself, to motivate me, to psyche myself up; For this whole entire week, all I keep thinking about, BELIEVING IN, repeating and saying to myself is = "ONE OF YOUR MAIN SAYINGS" , I GUESS ITS KINDA LIKE : YOUR MOTTO/ MANTRA/ PHILOSOPHY/ MINDSET/ MENTALITY= "WEAK LEGS, EQUALS WEAK MINDS" And I KNOW FOR A FACT, thats the main reason that inspired me, and pushed me and psyched me up , to not only make sure i got to the gym everysingle day, but also why ; I WENT FOR AND GOT MY 1 REP MAX TODAY= 3 PLATE SQUAT= SO HAPPY now I will continue to increase, push and work my way to 405 / 4 plate/ by dec25th is my goal, im also doing bench and deadlift. =PURPOSE/GOALS/ MEANING /FUN/ HAPPINESS/ SELF-ESTEEM/CONFIDENCE/DISCIPLINE/CONSISTENCY GETTING BIGGER, STRONGER, BETTER THANKS ALOT: JOSH BRIDGES = HUGE INSPIRATION / MOTIVATION SQUATS / STRONG LEGS / STRENGTH = AT ANY AGE AWESOME STAY STRONG
