This is nothing like that as Dune just proved Brolin still has atleast a decade of action. chops still left in him, and Douglas was in his 70s when Antman came out, he is not my first choice by a long shot but after sitting with &remembering this is basically the route Snyder &Goyer were planning I'm fully onboard if Brolin signs on the dotted line.. ​@@detectivecomictalks9320it makes more sense if he's already been parallax, in the OG snyderverse the plans were to have two main veterans who e already been there done that.. one would be batman who already had a mostly secret career terrorising the criminals of Gotham for 18-20ish years before superman's coming out party (perfect setup imo cause it means there are stories &history of batman in a world where superman doesn't publicly exist yet &gives bats the experience edge) &Second was Hal Jordan (tom cruise &mark walberg were being eyed, with mark getting as far as coming in for a fitting) with this hal he would've already have been located by the corps around 15yrs prior &had a prolific career out in space making a name for himself before a tragedy befell him &the parallax event happened.. the entry point for the solo movie rhen titled "The Green Lantern Corps or just The Lantern Corps" would basically be SafeHouse in space with Stewart being recruited but Hal being a prisoner on Oa or some blackhole prison planet or something i cant remember all the details but it was a really interesting story that examines redemption the spirit of humanity &the nature of determination and honestly if it got made anywhere near to what it sounded like would've been like nothing we've seen in CBM territory But yeh anyways rambling aside, I'm not sure how building to parallax would work, but if the rumours of why sources say it reminds them of True Detective is true, the plot focuses on a weird horrific crime the ring can't scan (which should be impossible as the ring knows all) long story short the villain is basically "the yellow king" (lantern fans know who that would be) and hal ends up going off the deep end trying to solve the mystery that goes all the way back to the creation of the first ring etc

BTW to the OP, agents usually only do these things with younger clients who need the name association to drive up their stock and q scores This wouldn't happen with someone like brolin who's a vet in the game and knows Gunn personally and thus would potentially sour a business relationship

People need to remember that while James Gunn is the co-head of DC Studios, he isn't alone when deciding this *potential* casting; he has Chris Mundy, Damon Lindlof, and Tom King. This is a unified decision before everyone starts blaming James. That being said, I don't agree with this. Yes, Brolin is a great actor and would most likely make a great Hal Jordan, but he's far too old. Hal Jordan needs to be main for at least 5 years minimum, and Josh is 56, so I hope they go for someone else, but if not, I trust them to make the right decision.

You can have an actor in their early 40s playing a Legend of a Lantern. Brolin is a great actor but I just don't see it. If they really wanted an actor in their 50s, Jon Hamm would have been perfect, with the right training he has that look (my opinion) I was of course hoping for Glen Powell to take this part, he seems perfect for it and I believe the fandom was also putting him at the top of the list, the age and stature ties in with the rest of the universe. We shall see what's happening.

I love it as I’m all for some changes to the standard storylines, this one would work for me. Brolin is a great actor so with this take on Hal Jordan I hope it turns out to be fact and that he accepts the offer. I think the cynicism that’s out there is frustrating and I hope it fades away as Gunn proves he is the right person doing this !!! Thanks for the updates. To be honest, I kinda like this casting and dislike it at the same time. The biggest problem is the age to me. A lantern legend who has been there for 15-20 years, to me should be around 48-52 age bracket. This will help hal jordan survive the 10 year plan but also give him that gravitas. I think brolin will bring up that gravitas that the series will require(since it's inspired from true detective) and I also do think that jensen ackles is probably the perfect age but he doesnt necessarily have that gravitas that brolin can bring. So, I would like to see how it plays out in the larger dcu storyline.

I feel like (if this casting is true) then this choice was made in order to basically retire the character from the films and "pass the touch" officially to John Stewart. So basically Hal Jordan will not be the "main" lantern and the main Gunn-Universe lantern will be John Stewart. To be clear, I have nothing against Josh Brolin and think that he is a great actor. He was absolutely SPECTACULAR as Thanos, and I enjoyed him as Cable as well. And in interviews he is always so humble and so respectful to the fans. I really, REALLY like him. But he would not have been my first choice for Hal Jordan. ...to be fair, so far I haven't been particularly impressed with ANY of the casting choices for the new DC films. I'll definitely give this DC film run a chance, but so far I'm not excited AT ALL and the images that I've seen have been underwhelming. The more I learn the more disappointed I become. 😕

Look, I’m the type of person who is willing to give actors and actresses a fair shot when they get casted to play a certain character, but I honestly think that Josh Brolin is a bad choice for Hal Jordan because from my understanding of Hal Jordan, he’s never been portrayed someone who is over 50 he’s always been younger than 50. I get that they want him to be a veteran Green Lantern and John Stewart is a rookie, but they should’ve casted someone in his mid to late 40s for Hal since John is a rookie. And I do think that Josh Brolin is a great actor and this may sound mean, but I honestly hope that he doesn’t accept the role. And isn’t he also still contracted with Marvel?
