In this series we will cover a variety of topics as we prepare for Josh Duggars upcoming sentencing. The Duggars were considered "America's Perfect Family" when they were first documented on the TLC Show "19 Kids and Counting". Since that time, secrets have been revealed that indicate otherwise. In order to understand the Duggars you must understand their belief system, the IBLP and how founder Bill Gothard came into power. In order to understand that process, we must go back in time.

I’m not very far in, but I think it’s interesting to point out that JFK was the first catholic president, and faced a lot of criticism and skepticism because of it. The actions he took that are described in this video were probably extremely helpful for showing the public he wouldn’t be a “puppet of the pope” which was a common belief back then

Not exactly. Jesus came to save people from their sins. He did not come to bring an uprising against Rome, He even said give to Caesar what is Caesars and to God what is God's. He taught us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. He also said if anyone was to hurt a child it would be better if a millstone was tied around his neck. Jesus came to die in the place for the sin of everyone. He was a man of peace, he was not a zealot which is why pilot didn't want to crucify him because he found him not guilty of any wrong. Bill Gothards teaching goes against much of what the Bible teaches. Jesus was kind to women and elevated them greatly in a culture that saw them as less then. People are awful, but the Bible says that a false teacher will be harshly judged.

Great video!! The funny thing is, people born in the 60's are exactly like the ones who were complaining about the kids in the 60's. My husband was born in 66, he was kinda wild as a teen, raised as a latch key kid by parents born in the 40's. Both his parents worked. Never got in trouble as a teen, but raised totally different than I was. There were 3 kids in his family, and the all were given cars, had lots of free unsupervised time to do whatever. He's 55 now, has kids who are 24 and almost 28. He was kind of strict with his kids, but bailed them out alot. Didn't get your homework done, ok I will stay up all night an do it because I don't want you to fail kind of parents. This was him and his ex wife, mother of his kids. I was born in 73, my parents born in the early 50's. I had a stay at home mom. Raised in church, parents were strict, we weren't handed cars, had to work an buy them. I grew up appreciated of what I had and took good care of my things. I raised a girl that lived with me starting at age 13, and my nephew who I got at age 9. I was more like my parents, I didn't bail the kids out, I encouraged them to be independent and they grew up to become independent adults. They work hard for what they have. I remember at one point in my life going to an assembly of God church. They were against the music of our time. Then the southern Baptist whom were basically the same. When I was in 8th grade we went to some kind of program where they played rock music backwards and it was some kind of devil something or another. I don't remember alot of details. I do remember my mom throwing out some cassette tapes my brother had of some rock artist. Such a different time. But all pretty much the same. Each set of parents from each generation talk about how their generation is better, and how kids are out of control lol

“There is no such thing as a non-religion” is such a weird misleading statement. I know that it’s a common refrain that “all beliefs are religious”, but I don’t need any faith to believe that my sheets are clean if I just washed them and can smell and see the fact, I still /believe/ they’re clean, but I’m hardly now a member of the first church of clean sheets over the matter.

I am a Christian. I believe in miracles. I believe that God forgives but does not always give the miracle of being cured. I believe it is through these struggles against addiction (pedophila in this case) that God brings a Christian closer to God through the need to totally lean on God to stop the addiction. Our path in life as Christians are our own to face sometimes different and sometimes the sales trials but must be faced to some degree individually. Even Mother Teresa had battles against depression and questions of if there was a God. Some are given cures that change the very fabric of their being like St Francis of Assisi. I am not Catholic, but wanted to give examples easy to research. Josh has not been given a “miracle cure.” He has not put his desires to God on a minute to minute, hour by hour, day by day basis. Even in prison/jail he still seeks to blames others. Pedophilia can’t be cured by man. It can be acknowledged, but not cured. His faith believes repentance is enough to stop pedophilia. It is not enough unless his repentance is each minute, every hour and daily acknowledging his every thought of sex toward children. He has not done this and shows no inclination to do so.

@@angelawossname because in communist societies they can't have anything that would threaten the authority of the government. Every religion believes it's a higher authority than any government. Same reason North Korea set up the Kim's as living gods, why bishops were regularly sent to gulags or just straight up kicked out of the USSR. And why, even now, religious persecution of all kinds goes on in China. It's about power. Control. Politics. Not religion. At least be honest. That's a whole commandment.

Scary to think, but my family went to churches for years that taught very similar to IBLP. (in the southeast Georgia area) Listening to the teaching on this video made me feel like I was back in one of those churches. (The Elders went as far as saying an ADHD child just needed more discipline.) I cringe to think of it now. its easy to get "sucked in to this and other screwed up theologies that claim they are Bible based. They take some truths and mix in extremely subtle lies. Advice: Read for yourself. Observe and then test everything before jumping in.

When I worked in a grocery store, a lady flagged me down because we were out of an item that was on sale. She was wearing headphones and had to take them off when I was helping her. Half way through our conversation, she interrupted me and said "I'm sorry, this music, it's just so bad", which I kind of shrugged off like, yeah, it's 70's rock grocery store playlist. She was like, "NO ITS ALL SATAN SATAN SATAN" and I said "Well I don't know about that" and she told me that she did because she studied it in college and it's all Satan. My manager showed up at that time and I ran off. Imagine not being able to go into a store that was playing any kind of nonchristian music with out a melt down, but thinking these abusers and oppressors are holy people.

It’s why those who minister to the red light district are led astray. It’s why convents and monasteries were so popular. Escape the reality of pleasure through the act of procreation. In fact, in many many monasteries men used whips on themselves to stop thoughts of sexual pleasure to get closer to God. And yet, the brain can and will train itself to find pleasure and release in that act of pain. So what they thought was the ecstasy of closeness to God was just a form of a pleasure release similar to what joggers experience as a runners high. Is that closeness to God? Only God can tell you.

It's easy once they've been brainwashed by religion. We all know very well that you don't come back from death. You can have a near death experience now that we are able to bring you back with technology. We know you can take certain things to look like you're dead and then have it wear off a few days later but we all know that once you're really dead, you are NOT coming back. So people know if you believe that, you'll believe anything. That's why they want to know who is a Catholic so they know you don't think for yourself. There's actually another Heaven for those staunch believers who can't tolerate that "others" go to Heaven. How clever is that ? God has an amazing sense of humour. Anyone who terrorizes you with eternal damnation is evil themselves and in need of therapy. It's a vile thing to do to children who have just come from Heaven and instinctively know that's wrong. God loves us that's why we were made eternal so we could have numerous chances to find our way back to God. Putting someone in he'll forever is not allowing for any improvement. We have numerous lives. If people went to he'll for every little thing, there wouldn't be anyone left by now. 😅 God has everything growing. Even the Universe expands but we believe He'd throw us in there over some small mistake ? What kind of faith is that ?!!

I definitely see some similarities bt IBLP and Scientology. Both have leaders who create rules upon rules to control followers. And the Principle of Responsibility seems to be at the heart of Josh's "fall". I will say though, I don't think the teaching MADE Josh. Josh had predispositions that were fed by these teachings. Unfortunately, these teachings were the wrong food for Josh. Too bad his parents leaned on a list of rules for parenting, instead of wisdom and discernment. Again, a thorough, organized, clear presentation of facts. Kudos 👏

Watching the Kennedy speech about separation of church and state and wondering why the constant push back in time these days :/ It is possible to be a good, moral, upstanding citizen without this fear of god bs. Brilliantly researched and sourced, as always!

I've been thinking a lot about the subtle racism/xenophobia that is tied into the "No music with a beat (or even saying 'no jungle beat music')" doctrine. Given how many cultures (particularly non-white, non-western cultures) have music that involves complex rhythms and yes, a beat, and they're banning it on the grounds that it's "tempting the devil"... what exactly about middle eastern, Indian, or African cultural/musical expression is "devilish", I wonder (sarcasm, of course. Lots of covert racism with these groups. They're just subtle enough that you can never call them on it).

The Smith college song will haunt me forever. The fact that a college promoted anti-intellectualism to female students is really depressing! I’m so grateful that I grew up in the 90s, and my family was not this level of religious. It’s terrible that this level of misogyny has ever existed, let alone still exists in these fringe groups. I’m always surprised women choose to be in these religions. It’s one thing if you are born into it and brainwashed your whole life, but to have a regular upbringing where you are given the same options as boys/men, and then choose to give up your autonomy for religions like this, is really weird to me. It happens though, and I’ll never understand that. You can be a SAHM and still keep your autonomy, have a balanced view of the world, and not live in fear of religion.

In that footage about how "we've got money that says 'In God we Trust'" and "all presidents have said this," wow was he lying! Guessing he didn't know Jefferson cut and pasted a Bible, known as the Jefferson Bible, of the stuff he liked and removed what he didn't! Also, that wasn't added to the money until 1956, prior to that it said "E pluribus unum." Guess he wouldn't want me pointing that out though, since as a woman I shouldn't know that!

Another fantastic, well-researched video that makes my brain feel fuller. :) It's really cool to see how much you've grown in the short time you've been creating youtube content, Bee. (Be? Bea? 🐝) It's refreshing to finally see an impartial person just spilling the facts, not trying to sway the audience one way or another. Thank you, I can't wait to watch the next one! I've seen both sides of the world. I am a Christian I've seen Jesus when I nearly died but this Gothard guy definitely got in the way of God a lot with his teachings and dictating things that weren't even in the Bible. The problem with guys like he who become too powerful start to use the Bible legalistically which hurts many and is not at all christian. Sadly it happens too often.
