Ive got a tip, if your looking for a driving instructor never pay for a bunch at once always pay for the 1 lesson that way if you dont lile the instructor you can always change without having to continue with them because you have paid in bulk.

Congratulations Josh! You and the videos on this channel have put my mind at ease and given me motivation. I was with a driving school and the instructor would bite my head off for little things making me so nervous for the rest of the lesson. My last lesson with him I was nearly in tears and ready to storm out of the car, but I remained calm and carried on. I have now changed instructor and have learned so much; she puts me at ease. So your point of being calm and relaxed is so true. Thank you for the meditation tip too! Well done again and stay safe on the roads.

Congratulations Josh. You are the same as me, I was with an instructor that didn't pay attention to what I did and wasn't really motivated. Failed my test because of that and afterwards I went to another driving school with an instructor that was really focusing on what I did and while driving pin-pointing every fault I did. I could say anything to him and he would listen. Do any manoever, etc. After a 3-4 weeks of taking lessons again (6 to 8 lessons, just like you) with the new instructor, I did my test again with my own car and it was a blast. There were times that I almost wanted to give up, but just like you said just keep going and keep trying and it will work out. The bit of where you said don't tell your friends, that is so true man. I first told them what date I was going to go, etc. Just made me stress more! The next test I did I just didn't tell them, and went from school to the driving center, passed. I called my friends and basically was a surprise. I PASSED BOY, haha. Lastly, the instructor I left was getting personally attacked and called me saying 'do you find me a bad instructor' blablabla, and I just did what felt right in my Heart and see what that brings. Passed with flying colors. Have fun on the road, lad.

I can see why Josh passed his test - he has a great attitude and was clearly ready to take the test. Congratulations! Before I passed my test (second attempt) I used to dread certain manoevres, but my instructor made me practise them until I was sick of them but could execute them perfectly. If you're thinking of taking your test but still dread some manoevres, you're not ready.

I got the exact same examiner as Josh today, and she failed me for a car overtaking me as I was reaching a junction which I’m still unclear how it’s quite my fault? It’s a shame her name didn’t reflect my result.

In the Isle of Man driving test you need to do reversing into a junction, turn in the road (3 point turn), parallel park and emergency stop, not just one manoeuvre and sometimes an emergency stop At least you can drive at 16 though

I passed with just one minor, had the slightest kiss with the curb when pulling up. I also felt my test was easy, it was on very familiar roads and I'd made every turn multiple times before. Nailed the parallel park. It was short too, I think we were only out for just over 30mins which I think was because after my test was lunch. So my advice would be to book your test for just before lunch time.

I think I'm ready for my test and it's booked for the 21st however my instructor hasn't done a mock test with me he's only done a 20 minute sat nav drive. I feel I need a new instructor though because sometime's he'll just sit texting on his phone while i'm driving. This isn't an independent driver either. He's from one of the big driving school's known across the country.

How does the SAT-NAV work I'm guessing it's not too difficult but will try it out, I had an instructor about 8-9 years ago don't have one now so learning wth friends & family, will look at the beginning of next month to book my test, cheers well done Josh

Hi Sukhdarshan, the Sat-Nav is used on 4 out of every 5 tests statistically and it forms the 20 minute independent driving section where you must follow a pre-planned route. It's really not that difficult when you get some practice in with one. The Sat-Nav they use on test is the TomTom Start 52. And thank you!

The satnav does not show you the speed limit on the road. I know this because I I was driving at 30 and wondered if I was in a 40 zone. Fortunately it wasn't and passed on my first attempt. In fact I passed my full motorcycle test on my first attempt 2 years earlier which probably helped pass my car licence test.

Just got back from my driving test, failed for the 3rd time. Pulled up onto the right, reversed up hill 2 car lengths checked my mirrors blind spots and the examiner said I didn’t check my right blind spot for more than 10 seconds which is rubbish my instructor said I checked earlier. Can’t debate it he failed me, they’re making a killing off failing people for nothing. Got 2 minors the whole lesson. Shit.

Hi Joshua I couldn't find an instructor after passing my theory test & the only driving schools available were A.A., B.S.M.& Acclaim Driving School but couldn't afford it even whilst working, I've been practising with my dad& so don't have an instructor, I've not booked my practical test yet, not too sure how going to tackle the SAT-NAV, + I'm contemplating of hiring Arnold Clarks learner driver car for my test, just wanted to say the amount of instructors I've tried, either fully booked, waiting list+ half off them not getting back to me

That seems like it must be really frustrating for you. I'd advise you to get as much practice in with your Dad as possible and make use of the KZbin content provided by GO2 Driving School and elsewhere. If you can get in a few lessons with a driving instructor before your test I'm sure it'll help alot to correct any bad habits you may have picked up driving privately (if any of course). If you can't afford it right now, as I know a lot of people can't, I'd wait till you can afford around 3-4 lessons and get them back to back within a week or two-week period before your test and smash it, though don't book your test until you feel ready yourself and a trusted, grade A instructor like Matt tells you that you are! Good luck mate!

First time I thought I’d failed in the first 5 minutes, turns out I was going to get a perfect pass until I made a serious fault on the way back. Just be confident and chat to the instructor they’re human too and probably would rather be at home in bed

20 years ago I failed my test clean sheet but like an idiot forgot to indicate into the test centre.. .going for it again now after driving on and off over the years on my provisional paid £200 For 5 2 hour lessons to brush up to test standard but ice a feeling the instructors going to give it the old oh I think you need a few more despite me driving everyday town at night in bad weather if that's the case I'm just going to put in for my test I think if I fail again I'll be giving you a call 😂😂😂

If I'm honest, I can perform all 4 manouveres to a good standard as required by the test. Out of all 4 though, I'd probably say the one I am best at and prefer to do the most is the parallel park or 'reverse around a car'.

To be fair I found my first driving test extremely easy, but finished with 1 minor and a serious fault at the very end. (didn't stop at a crossing.) My second test was a much harder route but managed to pass with 3 minors. Something can also be said to how strict your examiner is. I could almost guarantee the examiner I had on my second test wouldn't have bothered failing me for not stopping at the crossing. There can be a lot of luck in the driving test.
