Until you get into his politics, the church he belongs to is pretty bad news. I do like Josh though, but that’s one reason people don’t

Psshhtt. Go to The Gear Page. Plenty of nagativity there and other f-rums and groups, too. They're usually stuck on his politics/support of certain groups and people, something he did a few years ago, or that he's just copying other people's stuff, tweaking a few component values, and renaming it. Threads will go hundreds of pages. Smdh. It's usually all pretty ridiculous.

I love all the white space on the series 3 pedals and that you can draw on them with markers. I think you should do an episode where you have elementary school kids come in and draw on each of the pedals, giving them keywords like Fuzz, crunch, waves, chorus, etc. Then, you can auction off the pedals and give the profits to a non-profit for music education.

@@MannysWorldd I also learned a lot from JHS about pedals, tones, a bunch of other companies, which lead me into other channels, where I learned even more. I used to use my Line 6 POD HD Pro, but I spent more time tweaking than playing. It's been difficult creating great tones on it, because I didn't really have a reference tone. But when I built my first pedalboard ever at the start of 2020 (it has grown since then), I have been able to find my base tone, embellish it a bit, but also go crazy with a bunch of effects. It's a much simpler setup than a digital modeller gives, there's no option paralysis, but I've still got a lot of versatility.

The JHS Show has inspired me to enjoy playing guitar again, build a pedal board with a mix of classics and recommended budget (ish) noiseboxes I can afford , and just try stuff and rock out! The (off topic) nerdiness and chaos and weirdness is refreshing and unique and relateble to zillions of people out there. JHS is to guitar influencer social media what grunge was to poser metal in the early 90's, and I know cause I was there ... Painting it white with black 'generic trash' anti-graphics is an insult 2 the customer. it doesn't cost more 2 do it in 'pro' style like black box with some bright color 4 the labeling & stuff. The 'Sansamp' look nice even though very 'cheap' style 2 make = just simple black with yellow lines.
@Deathrape20012 жыл бұрын
@@antihero0101 Black background with yellow graphics is FUNCTIONAL = clear, easy to read, & gets out of the way = disappears =) If something is going 2 B a light color, it should be fancy looking, not 'boring industrial'. The cost of doing white is the same as black, but looks ugly because black does not draw attention whereas white does, saying 'look at me! I'm purposely designed to look as cheap & cheesy ugly ridiculous as possible like 'generic milk' =)) If they simply made their 'budget brand' with BLACK boxes and yellow or beige lettering (Sansamp style) would look nice & 'pro' for a great value price = but that is not their goal. He is deliberately CRIPLING the product trying to make owners feel like a dork for owning them, to try & encourage them to get rid of them & buy a 'real' pedal to replace it as soon as possible. It's a $cam. Of course, everybody knows all of this, & U R just trolling =))
@Deathrape20012 жыл бұрын
@@antihero0101 BTW: WTF with JHS deliberately dorky names = it's like 'choose your level of dork-ness', from 'generic junk pedal that is not actually inexpensive at all ($cam = looks infinitely worse than the fancy sleek colorful aluminum Chinese $hit on Fleabay for $30 or less) to the 'Grandmas Table Cloth' overdrive & 'Bicycle Tire Delay' LOL = just so OMG deliberately goofy, childish krap =)) Say if that Paul Gilbert pedal were simply black with yellow lettering, & called 'The Paul Gilbert UltraDive' or something, would sell way more of them, even at the same price. The light blue 'pair of socks' pedal or whatever makes people RESIST the very IDEA of owning it = doesn't 'inspire' you to do 'edgy guitar solos'. Looks more like some kind of 'cooking ingredients box' LOL 'Paul Gilbert Blueberry Cream Jello' pedal? HAHAHA I'm not saying he is in some 'failing business model' no = lots of '$uccess', but he could have way MORE if his stuff wasn't all so LAAAAME in visual design & name choices =) Where is the 'SoulCrusher / DoomGod' pedal 4 instance? It's not that hard =D His $hit is like Danelectro without the 'retro diner vibe' = like just a generic red box & calling it 'cinnamon toast' = stupid. Now, if it's shaped like an old car, or a toaster, then that's 'cute & funny' in an artistic way, not a dorky 'I just don't give a fuk & want 2 B goofy' way. Maybe JHS could start a 'sister brand' made wherever cheap place in Asia or something, with FLASHY design or simple black box design, & use more interesting names. I would suggest those cool 'colored aluminum' type 'extruded' boxes from Fleabay, with 'mini' design & names like 'Twang King Surf Box' or something, with a picture of a wave & a surf board &/or crown. It's so E Z 2 make something NICE instead of just 'goofy'. When U stare at the cute little 'surf box' in shiny 'aluminum blue' it makes U think of the ocean & the whole 'vibe' 2 help inspire, rather than 'The JHS My First Pencil Sharpener Overdrive' with a picture of a pencil being sharpened on the orange box = WTF? =))

After 15 years I sort of moved on and didn't really play for a few years. Then the youtube algorithm lead me to one of your videos, I don't remember wich one, but honestly: Josh, you got me hooked on my guitars again! This was the best video you guys ever made. Some of the cutaways like the one about gaslighting and Josh is just staring at the camera with no comment are just hilarious. Some of the messages are just too quotable. lol This went exactly how I figured and I'm happy to see that. I'm always tuning in and out when I see another great informative video on company history that I'm interested in. The things like "he has the box" are just icing on the cake. For the record It's never even crossed my mind once that you were pedaling, pun intended, or selling something on this show. Again, Nice job, I laughed this whole episode. By the way the theme song is fine the way it is. It has always evoked a feeling of nostalgia which is perfect.

Somewhat newb sub-y here. This channel is a hub for all things pedals. But also, it's much more than that. It has become my new favorite youtube channel as of late! Thanks for sharing your passion (obsession) for pedal circuitry, and explaining what makes things sound the way they do in such a laid back way that most anyone can understand. If there's a Bill Nye the Science Guy of guitar pedals, it's gotta be you! 🤣😆

Wow. In reality, somebody had a bad day, stopped taking their meds, broke up with their main squeeze or whatever, and they take their frustration with real life out in KZbin comments. Let's be real. Your show rocks, your pedals rock (I keep 3 on my board regularly), you entertain and inform, you (Josh) are selfless enough to promote other maker's pedals when you make comparable or better ones of your own. I don't know where you found the fortitude to address half of those comments, but kudos, gentlemen. Way to let it roll off your back.

Dude was right about the pronunciation of Moog but he clearly didn’t do his homework because Bob Moog himself said that people can pronounce it however they want.

Just wanted to say I love you guys and everything you do on this channel. I've learned so much about pedals and the history of guitar from you. You've helped me make far more informed decisions while building my first pedal board than I otherwise would have and I think you're an invaluable resource. My third (and final) son was born this week so I'm just getting caught up on this video and watching while holding him was just the best way to come home. I love all you guys, thank you so much, and I can't wait to see Nick back from his much needed vacation. Keep trying stuff!

I have nothing but love for Josh and this channel. You guys have helped me so much to traverse the sonic universe as I’ve learned to play guitar the past 3 years. Seriously. You’re integrity incarnate.

I struggle with the hateful comments and the anxiety that I have developed is all tied to the growth of the internet and social media.. it has gotten to the point that I won't even open emails at times and I basically never respond to any replies to my comments. It's probably the most irrational fear I ever had in my life but the way that the perceived anonymity of the internet's asynchronous communication has empowered people to just be hateful is in my mind the worst thing to come out of the last 30 years or so of public discourse. I appreciate you all wanting to have a cathartic moment and found this episode encouraging but would add that If anyone ever attacks you ad hominim about your hair or eyebrows or whatever that's even worse than the swearing and hope to see them get banned from the comments on your videos as well.. anyhow, glad I came across your channel. Keep up the good work Cheers

Here's A Positive Comment: In October 2021, my wife died at the age of 45. Your show gave me some much needed distraction filled with hilarity, and for brief moments, I could laugh again. Keep up the good work! BTW: I have a your Lucky Cat pedal, and it's a great delay!

I just cannot understand these comments. You guys are funny, honest, comfortable enough to make and take jokes at your own expense, and it is clear that over all you are simply doing what you love. Glad to see that you will keep doing that!

Much respect for you Josh in regards to how you have built your business. Amazing classic American dream come true. A real inspiration to us out here still trying to make it. The old saying do what you love and the money will follow rings true always. I live not to far from you and am proud to know you are fellow Missouri resident. Keep up the great work !

We love you Josh and JHS team. Thanks for all you do! Got tremendous respect for you all! And Josh I really like your playing. You usually are showing off the pedal instead of your playing. You play with a more modern style which for most people is actually more useful for seeing what the pedal will sound like in the context of something they'll use it for. I can't believe how mean spirited some people are. Even if they're joking its too far.

this is super healthy. when you name something you can let go of its power over you, and it works even better when you share it. love your show. people who wrote most of these aren’t providing actual constructive criticism, they’re just displaying their own bitterness and pain to the world.

All my love goes out to Nick. Ok, he is a drummer (besides a million other things he does at JHS). I like everyone with personality who contributes and is creative. And I really like his drum playing in the jams. I feel he really got better. These are good grooves. And I am a guitar player, who would have thought?! Cheers from Germany
