In this powerfully inspirational story, we follow a brave young soldier from a battlefield in Iraq, where he sustained traumatic injuries in a mortar attack, to Fort Riley, Kansas. There, during a thunderstorm, a kitten suddenly appears to save the soldier’s life, then later disappears, only to reappear at another pivotal moment in both their lives.

I even have some of the insulated tubs with heating pads for winter. I donate significantly to food banks, foreign medical assistance, and TNR and other cay causes. I feel almost sick about Biden's decision to abandon Afghanistan, the women and children especially , and especially the interpreters and their families that will be imprisoned and likely murdered for helping us there. We could have done almost nothing without their help. I still fell so hurt, sad, and tearful with the death of my favorite cat, Lynx, 6 weeks ago from thyroid cancer. He just wandered into the house and sat on the sofa 6 years ago! he would often sleep under my chin or cheek. He was such a friend to me, much more than many humans ever were...

Makes me smile to see more and more stories of how cats helped pull a person through a tough situation - it's usually a dog or a horse or.... My girl found me 9 years ago. She kept me going through one of the worst periods of my life. Unfortunately this story makes me think about "the end" and how I don't know how I'm going to say good-bye when that time comes.

We had three cats and a dog, but two of them passed on within one week. We were crushed. We'd been together for almost 16 years, and I think maybe they couldn't go on without each other. I had a very hard time dealing with the loss. For the two years since then, our cats have been a Godsend. They were already affectionate, but they we're right on us when we were crying, depressed and missing our best friends. They make our day every day :)

it is tough - we lost our Momma Kitty 4 years ago this past Thanksgiving. She had cancer and nothing could be done about it. Even though we knew what was coming, it doesn't make it easier. On Thanksgiving Day, we had 2 trips to the specialist vet (3 hours roundtrip) and the 2nd time she just couldn't get her breathe no matter what they did for her. We couldn't keep putting her through the pain and not being able to breath just for our selfishness, so we made that horrible, awful decision and let her go to the Rainbow Bridge. It's never easy and you know the grief is coming so strong that it'll take you to your knees sobbing but to show your love for them, to stop their pain, that decision has to be made. When we got back home, I bundled her up and held her in my arms like a baby until we laid her to rest by our Jack Russell the next morning. Momma Kitty, you will always be our loved and loving little girl.

I was diagnosed with stage 4 peritoneal cancer- a very rare & incurable cancer in men. My surgeon, who at first said it was too advanced, decided to perform a HIPEC. It was a 10 hour procedure and I almost didn't make it. I was in ICU for 5 weeks & the hospital 3 months. What kept me going was the little furball at home. My sister was caring for Oreo. Hospital staff was always asking me about Oreo. And a PT in rehab even adopted a cat after seeing my love for Oreo. Today I'm back home with 98% of the cancer removed.

Josh, thank you for your service and I am so sorry you have had such a struggle. I am in tears after watching this. I have a SIL that suffered in the same way Josh did after serving several tours in Iraq and suffering a TBI. When my daughter brought future SIL home the first time, my cat bonded instantly with him and my future SIL with my cat. One could literally see the stress drain from SIL. It broke my heart to give my cat away, but SIL needed him and it was the least I could do for someone who served for our country. Cat went home with my daughter and him that night. My daughter has commented many time how much cat helped SIL. Four months ago, after 8+ years together, the cat passed away. Hearts are broken, but SIL is in a much better place after having cat in his life. Sometimes animals just know.

1CherryTree Well you had no idea when your Cat came into your life back then that years later he would be having a greater mission in rescuing a human in need. But he knew ... that's why he was sent. He was biding his time waiting for your future son-in-law to walk the through the door. Chances are he recognized him on sight though they never layed eyes on each other before. There's no denying as you even said yourself there was something special and quite mystical about the first encounter. There are forces in the universe we will never understand but the animals, ahhh they do... and especially the Feline. The Animal Spirits send them as our guides to watch over and protect us with love and a spiritual connection straddling Both Worlds- theirs and ours with the gift of seeing our world through their eyes. It was a wonderful sacrifice you made and the circle of lives that it touched is immeasurable and beyond your son-in-law and daughter there are all the people they touched all because of one Cat sent to heal through a family who loves. I would like people to contemplate for a moment the same with Josh finding a place in veteran services, as he said serving in a different uniform, with the people he touched, the lives he improved and all the lives of those people whose lives they touched in ever- increasing and never-ending spheres of influence all set in motion by a solitary Cat appearing in the rain. If you think about it boggles the mind that Generations from now there will be a descendant of someone that Josh helped with their trauma, through their post-war experience, who were healed by Josh's care then went on to found a family, help neighbors, take care of a loved one and on and on to be continually passed along all set in motion by the one who was made well, but none of that would have happened if it wasn't for Scout. Makes me shiver or really, more like Goosebumps It's incredible, it's moving, and it fills the heart with love... And the Cats come down they know their purpose and they do it without fail and we are so much better as a species because of our Feline Animal Friends. And you and your family will always be held in high esteem by not only people like myself who are touched by your story and grateful for your selfless actions but also as your place among the Karma that Loosely binds all living things with our Cats as the eternal cohesive bond Blessings to you and all your family. ^-.-^

So many parallels to a couple stray cats and what I am going through. I have PTSD but not caused by war caused by life events. I will be homeless in 2 weeks just like they are now. I have been feeding and caring for these cats for 3 months. There will be no net that catches us soon. But at least I know I helped them while i could.

This moved me so much. My cat Gray Boy came into my life during a difficult time. I was walking down the street late at night after leaving a night out and someone approached me with him saying “take him or he’ll freeze!” Handed this gray kitten to me and ran off. Of course I could not leave him, but it was so sudden. I drove him home with me in a cardboard box I found. He wasn’t even scared. It’s like he immediately trusted me, he fell asleep on the ride home. My now fiance and I decided to keep him. We had him for three years until he died suddenly from an undetected birth defect in his heart. I still think about him every day. I have 4 more cats in his honor.

My yorkie saved my life too. I became disabled and my whole life was taken from me. It's been 12 yrs now and he still keeps me going. This was a great story, I'm happy that he was able to reconnect with scout after coming home. This video is also proof that cats have an amazing memory of the person they end up choosing, and it also shows that cats do have the ability to love unconditionally. When he announced that scout had cancer, I already could see where this story was going, and by the time he said scout passed away, I was a blubbering mess of tears, and when my cat saw I was upset, he came over to me, hopped into my lap, made a little trill, then started to rub his face against mine, since he knew I was upset, he was comforting me.

My Jenny was my best friend (also a Tuxedo) she slept on my lap in my chair. When I was not in the chair she sat on the back and swatted at everyone to pet her as they walked by. She was our 3rd Tuxedo cat other two male. Now my daughter's cat a tortie sits on whomever sits in my chair, sleeps next to my husband on the couch and yells in his ear before the alarm goes off. We love all of our rescue animals, 2 dogs, do not remember how many cats have passed through our lives, and a Guinea Pig; they rescued us not the other way around. The Guinea pig was a trip, took her outside on a leash in the grass.

I heard the saddest meow from my backyard in August of last year. It was a tiny orange tabby cat barely hanging onto life, abandoned by his mother. I took him to the vet and they said he was positive for feline leukemia and I could put him down or take him home and give him love until he passed. I took him home and fed him with a bottle and bird fed him raw salmon…it was gross but it was working. Two weeks later back at the vet and they were pleasantly surprised and started to actually care for him. Now his bigger than most cats and he has tested negative for the virus on the last two test which means he is in the small percentage of cats that shed it on their own. He is the picture of health and my best friend. He sleeps in my chest the same way he did when he weighed 6 ounces. I love my Leo and we saved each other❤
