after three months of wear daily at my job, the 990v6 are perfect. very cushiony and lightweight compared to my 993s i used to daily. no issues other than the longevity, i feel like they get dirty and creases on white midsole way faster than my 993s

I had the grey for a year and a half now. It’s nice and I enjoyed wearing them last summer but have mostly gone back to my favorite (990v4). Recently picked up the black V6 and it has really started to sell me on the 990v6. This silhouette just looks awesome with the black white and grey on it, and I’m not even usually a huge fan of black sneakers. They look awesome on feet. I’m going back for the triple black v6 soon for my next pickup because of how good the normal black one is.

These are indeed some comfortable pair of sneakers. What I’m not understanding though, is why reviews don’t mention the pressure point under the tongue area - more precisely where the tongue is stitched to the front part of the shoe. (Not sure about the technical jargon, apologies) If you reach into the shoe, you can feel there is a huge clump of textile right above your feet, kind of like a knot. I have experimented with 3 different sizes (one way above my usual size) and they all have the same problem. So does the 990v2. Surprisingly, I have only found one review so far which mentions this shortcoming, plus a few reddit posts. This pretty much makes the shoes unwearable for me. What about you guys?

Thanks for the video, how's the comfort compared with the V4, V5 are they more squeezy since I don't like overly soft soles, struggling with plantar fasciitis so arch support and the right amount of softness is really important, thx

from the early leaks i said these were gassss! I agree that the dramatic change in silhouette made the model quite polarising, but think about the dramatic changes from the v1, v2, & v3? After the shoe was leaked there had been some subtle changes, which i think were for the better. Early samples had the shoe looking somewhat bloated (reminiscent of a yeezy wave runner), and the final product is sleek and clean. Doesn't have that 'classic' running shoe look like previous models, but it's a welcomed change in my books.

Love my v6's after a couple wears. They're wayyy different than my v4's though. You definitely want the right size in them, the fit on the top of foot with the tongue is much different because the heel feels more elevated or raised up. Very glad I didn't size down. Also they're more narrow from heel to toe. They don't actually fit longer to me though, just more narrow. Definitely more sporty shoe.

I heard they run big so I wear a 9 1/2 10 in Nike so I just went 9.5 I haven't tried on a pare new Balance in years? Hopefully I got the right size.

I still love my V5, they fit my foot just right specially on the toes. Enough support even when I’m standing the whole day. But definitely not something I would wear jogging on the treadmill, that’s something I think the v6 might be better at in terms of cushioning.

I tried them on in store. I wear size 11. These fit true to size, but I did have to go with the wide version because the regular version runs a bit narrow at the toe box area.

I agree. I wear a 10.5 comfortably in the v3’s but tried on a 10.5 in the v6, just too big. The 10 fit better length wise but I had the get the wide version because the model is just more narrow than the other 990’s.

Go down a half size on the 990 V6 in the US. I wore a 9 wide in the V5 and 8-1/2 was spot on on my new V6's. It even says it on the New Balance website in the US. I agree with all Josh said about the V6. They are well worth the $199 we pay in the USA. I went with the gray and may also buy the black.

I just got my 990 v6 last week direct from New Balance online. (White….11 4E) I absolutely love this pair overall. I could wear these everyday. BUT………this pair is like champagne to me. AND……Made in the USA! (Which is a rarity these days.) Definitely collector’s item material like Jordans.

Are the outsole heels still fairly firm on the v6? I noticed the heels mashed some when you pushed down on them. More than previous versions? One of the things I loved about the 990s were the fact they had a firmer heel strike and more durable bottom soles, than say mushy or squishy running shoes. I hate mushy heels on some running sneakers. Thanks.

The heels on the V6 are a lot more squishy than previous versions, so if you don’t like that then you really won’t like these shoes

@@JoshDominic So they aren't somewhat firm, like say 990v4's? I still have a pair of those. The foot beds can be cushioned inside, but the previous versions have pretty firm outsole heels (under the encap) as I recall. The current 880v13 and v14 have freshfoam, but the heels have a lot if squish like hokas. Ever tried those? One would think the new 990v6 would be firmer than that? Just curious.

Not sure about V6s. When I wear them, it feels very running shoes on feet (too light, too soft), not lifestyle shoes like my V5s. Also, the chunky 3M pieces on both sides visually compete with the N and it bugs me.

👍Great no-nonsense review + thoughts. 990v1, the OGs, are the first and the best. I have the v5's in grey & navy & they're great everyday-wears. Eventually I'll get some v6's (of course) but I do think they look... IDK, like to me Air Max 90s are to 999v1s and Air Max 97s are to these 990v6s. (Edit: 998s are my fave after the 990v1, and 996s are close 3rd, but for sheer comfort the v5 is hard to beat; these v6s look great for casual/weekending, like a softer v5) They do look more modern, less classic. And that's fine. Room for all of them on my racks. 🤷🏼
