Hi. Thanks for your advices! I got a rc4wd tf2. I use all 3 stock leafs on it. In the beginning suspension was very hard and didn't almost flex at all as you can see in my video of my first test ride. But driving and additional weight made them softer. Now I am quite satisfied as I don't want my rig to flex too much anyway. It now weighs 4.6 kilogramms rtr btw.

Because of torque twist the Tamiya Bruiser are fitted with a kind of rear bar/links ,mine run on single leafs front and rear only for crawling speeds. I loosen the front of the rear spring hanger now they can work like a link maybe its work like shackles on front and rear of one leaf and the rear links hold them in position.This give the rear nice flex. I think the best way for me one axle with great flex and one a bit lesser .

I'm new to rc crawlers and just started a jeep xj scratch build. I'm wondering if anyone uses the shock set up that a real xj uses for axle wrap. You should be able to use a softer leaf to get the flex you want and make up for it by adjusting the shocks which are toward the center of the axle to allow the flex at each end. That was my plan anyway for scale looks but watching this vid it seems like it will just work good too.

@@RCeveryday Thank you, and add an adapter for the hex?

The wheels are Rc4wd 1.55 wagon wheels. No adapter needed. They have the standard 12mm hex

Doesn't links stop the axle from twisting? Axle wrap.

Hey do you think getting them red hot with say a torch then letting them cool down will make them any softer? (Less springy)
@RCeveryday3 жыл бұрын
Not sure. I’m pretty sure they are hardened steel so it might weaken them too much.

I wonder if those would work on my scx10?

It has been done before.

Ok, cool, getting tired of dealing with shocks, especially if your trying to get that realistic look according to the age and era of vehicle.

Do u have a part number for the springs you used
@RCeveryday8 жыл бұрын
I dont, sorry. All the leafs I have came off of vehicles and I never had packaging for them. All RC4wd leafs are the same size. Tamiya has different lengths for the hilifts/bruiser/and hilux as well as the semi trucks. Most all crawler leafs are RC4wd size.

Dude thanks. I'm working on a build and im doing a leaf springs set up always around. What about the shackles? Any tricks on those for more flex?
@RCeveryday9 жыл бұрын
Barry Runion not much you can do with the shackles. I really don't like the rc4wd shooter shackles either. They provide a lot more flex but don't look scale to me. All of my end bolts on the leaf springs I use a standard diameter bolt. It fits though the shackle and hanger but is loose inside the leaf eyes. So it does give a little more side to side movement without affecting the scale look. I may have to do a follow up video on this. Hard to explain clearly without showing you.

Josh Dutton Yeah... I've heard you could grind down a bevle on the outside and inside of the leaf eyes to help with flex. Didn't know if you might have come across that before. I saw this video on axle wrap up while back. I'll try and find it and share it with you. Might be something fun to fabricate.
