nooooo not Wild Season, I didn't even know you could still buy that?! I was one of the early backers, at the time it felt like there was a lull in the farming sim scene ("cozy games" wouldn't even be a term for years), stardew valley wasn't out yet, and the devs SEEMED very open and communicative with the community. I even just searched "wild season quickfire games" on youtube and their channel is still up with all the podcast episodes where they were talking about the development process. TBH I still think the hook about ending up in one of those cozy farm sim small towns but they're very suspicious and uneasy of you at first is a pretty neat idea and I still want to know how it would've played out. when they suddenly made a statement that the game was going to become episodic people were pissed, then the actual 'episode 1' released and things got worse, and then as far as i know all the quickfire games accounts were ghosted. there's probably more story out there somewhere, some years ago I tried to look through their accounts again and some twitter statistics bot had taken over their twitter account for months. any time a friend sees that game in my account and asks about it I just have to respond with nervous laughter.... oh, wild season. one of my clearest memories of that game is going into some sort of beach area and walking right until i can see the edge of the terrain and solid black beyond it. that was the moment I realized there was no hope left for that game.

The first one has an arrow before words to imply it’s a narrator but that doesn’t really help much especially if you don’t know what that means nor notice it. It’s even worse since the player character’s portrait shows up during this so makes them look lazy by putting it in the player’s talking box. Also fun fact Farm Debt Repay Life is copyright infringement, those three girls are from a visual novel series about the main character running a pastry shop with his sister & their pet cat girls joining in. Lotas is Azuki the munchkin cat(also the oldest of the cats), Gothilia/Godzilla is Cinnamon the scottish fold, Lily is Maple the American Curl.

I'm someone who doesn't program and I've been messing around with a project to develop an HM fan game using the BYOND engine and the first game mystified me because the core gameplay seems to be barely functional. It's like looking at the fangame I'm afraid to make but it's a game people buy for real money. The diagonal movement thing is something I ironed out quickly referring to documentation by others so I'm sure for whatever engine Wild Seasons was made in... SURELY someone had documented a way to fix this very, very common issue in pixel games? And the fact putting items into the shipping bin is so difficult is craaaazy, one of the first things I implemented was picking up items and putting them into the tile your player is facing... I'm actually not sure how they messed this up given the engine seems to be RPG maker? So, basically, what I'm saying is as someone with next to no coding experience who is making a fan game for free, the immediate issues jumping out at me are ones I fixed within a few hours of studying and troubleshooting. Wow. I feel so bad for anyone who kickstarted this. My condolences, y'all.

I once was hit with the desire to play stardew valley, but had no computer, money, and the mobile version hadn't come out yet. So I downloaded this mobile ripp off called "Harvest master". To say this game was bad would be an understatement. It was the most boring, mind numbing game I've ever played. There was no crafting, no customization, and no combat. it had cooking, but only a handfull of recipes, and you where the only one who could eat them. The characters where all boring, had no routines and had no portraits, the ugly sprites is all you got. The town was bare-bones as crap, no props for any of the events and the screen would tear. your energy would ran out so quickly you could barely get through half your tasks without needing food. and once you got the tool upgrades, farming became so easy you could complete all your tasks in less than a day, but it would be torture because aside from farming there was nothing esle to do. so you would just be left running around waiting for night fall. And the devs knew this. They were so aware, that the paid version of the game (cause yes they had the gal to charge for this) didn't come with extra content, but instead came with a FAST FORWARD BUTTON!! So you could get throught the day faster!! It was so bad it made me make up a whole new game in my head. Idk why I would keep playing it, maybe hoped I'll unlock more content or something? Never did, it was just bad.

I never comment on anything but this video was so funny that I have to "recommend" two very bad games for you to waste more of your sanity on. First is "Pretty Princess Magical Garden Island," as far as I know it's only available on Switch, but it's a terrible Animal Crossing clone with bad controls and game mechanics. I wanted to enjoy this game -- really, I did -- but even the "pretty princess" veneer wasn't enough to make me want to play more. Second is "Brookhaven Grimoire," a game that has so many problems I don't know where to start. Aside from looking like it stole assets straight from Stardew Valley, it has enough mechanical issues to render it unplayable, the story hook starts intriguing and goes right into "disturbing," and on top of everything else, it has been abandoned by the dev. Honestly I felt so bad about buying this game that I uninstalled it and hid it on my games library. If you review either of these games (or both? haha /jk but what if), I would be both elated and VERY sympathetic for what you'd have to go through.

It's almost like this is their way to raise money to develop the game and it's just the start instead of something far enough along for play testing (so early access).

The option to just sell the farm and have the game end is absolutely hilarious, especially since it's clearly the superior choice 😂 Tbh, the whole review was hilarious, your sarcasm is just great 😂

I feel your pain Josh- I think the worst farming game I played was Big Farm Story. I don't mind grinding in a game, but this was just stupid LOL

In Lamu the bat doesn't kill you, it's actually rabies slowly cutting your health.

Wild Season is so bad it gave you a way to quit. Just sell the farm then the game can be over. I would be curious to now how many people accepted this offer then never played the game again.

Hey Josh, long time casual viewer. Like you, I got my finger on the pulse of farming sims (first was Harvest Moon 3 on GBC). Keep this up: the farming game niche is exploding, and I've been scammed so many times on promising looking games by this point I could probably fund the development of my own
